this is kind of short compared to how long my other imagines normally are, sorry ):

You sat quietly and contently at your desk in the school house, doodling random drawings on your slate board. It was lunchtime, but you weren't very hungry nor did you particularly enjoy sitting with Josie Pye and her whole group or being outside with all the rowdy boys. Normally, you sat with Anne and Cole but, she wasn't here today and Cole was too busy sketching away in his notebook to even notice that it was time to eat already.
The dust from your chalk started to spread all over your fingers as you fiddled with it in your hand. You couldn't help but wonder what Cole was drawing, or how he even came up with such detailed pictures of everything. He is a brilliant artist and you always compliment him on that. The way he draws things, the way he could draw a flower or a person or a place, and always make it look so realistic and beautiful, you admired that so much.
Curiosity consumed you as you got up and sneakily made your way over to Cole and peaked over his shoulder to see what he was working so intently on. Your eyes widened and your face turned a bright red.
"Is...is that me?" You stuttered.
Cole gasped and quickly scrambled out of his seat, he slammed his notebook shut and pressed it against his stomach. "I'm sorry, I—"
"No! No! Don't be sorry, I think it's lovely!" You gently pulled him back down to the desk and you both sat down.
"You do?" His eyes met yours for the first time today. He let go of his notebook and slipped it onto the desk. Cole anxiously picked at the sleeves of his sweater as he imagined how weird you must think he is. You two weren't extremely close but you have both shared personal things with each other and there was undeniably a strong connection between the two of you. You understood each other.
"I'm really flattered that you would ever even think about drawing me, Cole, but...why? I mean, why would you want to draw me?"
Cole stood up and gently grabbed your hand. He quickly made his way over to the back room, students weren't technically allowed here but all there is inside is just extra chairs and books. He pulled you down to the floor and didn't let go of you.
"Drawing it...it helps." He spat out, clearly flustered.
"How does drawing me help you?" You asked quietly.
"Ugh! It...it helps when I can't stop thinking about you! You and you're annoying cute face!"
Your face softened, and you lightly squeezed Cole's hand. You chuckled a little and shook your head. "Cole Mackenzie, do you like like me?" You smiled as Cole blushed and avoided your gaze.
"Because you should know that I may or may not have a crush on you." Coles eyes shot up as soon as those words slipped from your mouth. He couldn't help but smile.
"Well...I may or may not have a crush on you too, Y/N." He flirted.
"Good because, if you didn't then...this would have gotten really awkward."
