Nandini woke up early. She checked her phone to see if there were any messages or missed calls from manik. Unfortunately none. She was missing him badly. Dressing up in her casuals, Taking her bag she left the house.

She reached the college and saw it was fully decorated with red hearts and balloons. There was love every where. She was passing by the notice board when she saw a hug crowd gathered there. Curious she went there and saw that apart from the first lecture, rest all the lectures for the day had been cancelled.
Nandini: pehla lecture toh waise hi koi baith ta nahi. Matlab aaj pura din off hi hai. Aiyappa! pehle message kar dete yeh log toh main college aati hi nahi na.
Talking to herself she reached the canteen and saw the entire gang seated there talking and laughing. Smiling she went to them and occupied an empty chair.
Nandini: hi guys!
Cabir: what's up Nandini! Aapke aashiq nazar nahi aa rhe?
Nandini simply rolled her eyes and chose not to say anything to his sarcastic comment.
Nandini: woh he has gone to Pune. Uncle needed him for certain signatures.
Cabir: tabhi main soch........ ki aaj pure college main love is in the pyaar oops I mean love is in the air aur aapke majnu nazar nahi aa rhe. Aaj kal toh jahan love ho waha bas Manik baba ke hi gun gaan hote hai.
Everyone rolled their eyes on his another lame comment.
Nandini: shukar manao Manik nahi hai. Agar hota na toh ab tum zinda nahi hote.

Just then Nandini's phone rang. She saw the caller and smirked looking at Cabir.
Nandini: lo aa gyi ruqawat.
Cabir made a bad face while the rest of them giggled. Nandini picked up the phone still giggling while Manik too smiled listening to her giggles.
Manik: kya baat hai subha subha itni khush! Mujhe toh laga tha madam sad hogi mujhe miss kar rahi hogi lekin yahan toh manjra kuch aur hi hai.
Nandini: aisa kuch nahi hai. Woh bas Cabir tumhe yaad kar raha tha.
Manik: accha toh aap yaad nahi kar rhe the mujhe.
Nandini: nahi bilkul nahi.
Nandini took her bag and walked away while all her friends gave her teasing looks.
Nandini: main toh Infact bohot khush hoon. Ek din tumse chutkara mil gaya. Aaj pura din itna shaanti se guzar ne wala hai. You know without any Monster hovering around me.

Manik: kya matlab?
Nandini: matlab ki woh bichari ladkiya tumhari hot looks se nahi tumhare hot headed attitude se jal ke Mar jaati hai. Aur waise bhi har kisi main talent nahi ki woh The Manik Malhotra ko handle kr sake. Except The Nandini Murthy.

Both of them laughed.
Nandini: accha where are you?
Manik: office main. Thodi der main Dad ke saath jaoga in conference room. He says he wants to introduce me to some clients who are very important so he is like abhi se tujhe important clients se introduce karwa deta hoon so that you don't have any issues in future.
Nandini: toh isme galat kya hai Manik.
Manik: galat kuch nahi hai Nandini. It's just.....idk.....Matlab what the future holds. Maybe I might become a musician. I haven't thought about all this future and career and it's all so complicated.
Nandini: it's okay Manik. Right now just meet the clients with the only intention in your mind that you are going to follow your father's footsteps. Then see how smoothly the entire meeting goes. Agar tum aise disinterested hoke jaoge toh it can not only have a bad impact on the deal but also create a wrong impression of your and uncle's image. She was about to cut the call when Manik's words stopped her

Manik: why so grumpy today? Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Kisi se jhagda hua?
Nandini:nahi bas aise hi.
Manik: Nandini something is bothering you. And please kuch nahi hai toh bilkul mat bolna.
Nandini smiled widely listening to his last words.
Nandini: you remember these are the ex.......
Manik: yes the exact words I spoke on our first official date. Uss din bhi you didn't tell me. Just a few days before Valentines.
Nandini smilingly nodded.
Nandini: Yes. It's scary Manik.
Manik: what is scary?
Nandini: all this that's happening. You know everything is so perfect. You, me, Us, our friends. Everything is just so beautiful. I don't want to loose it.
Manik: Nandini come on....you are never loosing any of this. And I doubt now there would be any misunderstandings between us.
Nandini: how can you say that Manik. Tum jaante ho, you and me, we always keep arguing on every small thing. We always a difference of opinion. Then how can you say we won't fight.
Manik: I never said we won't fight Nandini. I just said there won't be any misunderstandings. Nandini it's just that we have passed that phase. We understand each other better now. We are too different people so fights are bound to happen lekin you don't have to bother about losing me or anything else for that matter.
Nandini smiled: tum na mere jaise baat karne lage ho.
Manik: ab kya karu sab sangat ka asar hai. Agar Cabir ne suna na toh pakka Baba Manik karke pura din pareshaan Karege.
Nandini giggled listening to him while Manik sighed listening to her giggles.
Nandini: Manik woh....I....I really miss you right now. The entire college is decorated with hearts all around. Red and white. Your and my favourite colours. It's just that.......I shouldn't have come to college only. It's all my fault. Tum waha kuch naya karne wale ho aur main yaha. I sorry Manik. I am so sorry. I didn't mean to upset you woh bas....

Nandini: what first?
Manik: first time you have expressed yourself to me. First time you have openly expressed. First time you have confessed that you miss me.
Nandini's lips curved in a smile while her cheeks turned red.
Manik: nice improvement Ms.Murthy! Agar aisa hi hai toh I should stay away more often shayad issi bahane meri girlfriend thodi romantic ho jayegi.

Manik laughed. They continued talking for some more time until Mahir came to call him for the meeting. Nandini kept the phone back in her bag and was walking towards the canteen when Aaryaman approached her.
Aaryaman: Hey!
Nandini: hello!
Aaryaman: woh I was thinking ki you know since Manik isn't going to be here so maybe.....just for tonight....you know only for the party if you....I mean...
Nandini: aaryaman stop stammering

Nandini: urm main Manik se iss baare main baat karke tumhe batao.

Nandini: shut up Aaryaman. Aisa kuch nahi hai. Woh abhi Manik is supposed to be in a meeting toh isiliye main baad main phone karke baat kar lungi usse.
Aaryaman: arrey nahi usne abhi toh mujhse baat ki. Itni jaldi kaha se meeting main hoga woh.
Nandini: hmm what?
Aaryaman realised what he said.
Aaryaman: woh...woh...I mean tumse. Abhi tum ussi baat karke aa rhi ho na toh I was saying ki tum abhi usse baat karke aayi toh itni jaldi how can he go for a meeting. Waise bol raha tha main. (Murmuring) Haan waise hi bol raha tha main....shayad!
Nandini: aaryaman! Are you okay?
Aaryaman: haan mujhe kya hoga? Tum fisool ki baat chhodo aur usse call karo.
Nandini: arrey he really is in the meeting usne mujhe bataya. I will talk to him as soon as he gets free and I will let you know.
Aaryaman: matlab aaj main party main jaa hi nahi pauga.
Nandini: arrey baba maine bola na I will let you know.
Aaryaman: yaar Nandini you will let me know by what around mid noon. Tab tak main tumhare answer ka intezaar karuga. And agar tumhare monster ne Naa bola jiske chances high hai toh phir main kaha se koi Dusri date dhoonduga aur kaise jaoga party main. Matlab no parry for me. Theek hai ab kya kar sakte hai main bichara akele single person......
Nandini sighed: Aaryaman....
Aaryaman in totally bichara tone: tumhe kya pata single person hone ka dukh. Arrey single ladkiyon ko toh phir bhi koi na koi mil jaata lekin hum single ladko ko toh ek raat ke liye bhi pyaar ki hawa naseeb nahi hoti.....
Nandini: AARYAMANNNNN
Aaryaman dramatically: hum toh Zindagi bhar kunware hi Mar jayege. Aur kabhi inn couple parties main nahi jaa payege. Kaise jayege. Jaane ke liye ek mehbooba bhi toh honi chahiye. Aur phir kabhi sochte hai ki apne doston ka sahara lege toh dost bhi dhokha de dete hai......kaise tum batao kaise kar sakte hai humare saath bhagwan aisa.
Nandini rolled her eyes: Okay fineeee
Aaryaman: aur phir hum sochte hai ki tum jaise acche friends ki help le. Lekin tum toh already booked ho. Life time ke liye. Meri toh Zindagi hi......
Nandini: AARYAMAN I SAID OKAAYYY
Aaryaman: haan?! Okay!! Reallyyyy!!! Thank god!!! Kaam ho gya meraaaaa! Bacha liya aapne mujhe! Haiyeeeee! Thank you Nandini....Thank you so muchh!
Over-excited, Aaryaman started dancing doing weird steps right in the middle of the corridor gaining the attention of a few students.

Nandini: Aaryaman can you stop!
Aaryaman straightened himself.
Aaryaman: haan haan sorry woh main kuch zyada hi excited ho gaya.
Nandini: bohot zyada.
Aaryaman smiled sheepishly.
Aaryaman: oooo...kay then see you at 7 in the evening. I will pick you up. Is that okay?
Nandini simply nodded. Aaryaman waved a bye and went away.
Nandini: strange. He is never so dramatic. God only knows what happened to him today.
On the other hand Aaryaman fished out his phone and kept it on his ear.
Voice: iss duniya ka sabse ghatiya actor award goes to none other than Aaryaman Khurrana.
Aaryaman: saale ek toh tera kaam kiya upar se tu mujhe hi suna raha hai.
Voice: tujhe nahi lagta tune kuch zyada hi over acting kardi. Shaq ho jayega usse. Hoga kya. Ho gaya hoga already.
Aaryaman: Meri galti nahi hai. Yeh saari training Navya ne di thi mujhe.
Voice: expected.
Aaryaman: Tera kaam ho gaya ab mere kaam ki baari. Chal bata tune mera kaam kiya.
Voice: kar diya bhai. Woh bhi bina kisi over acting kiye maine tera kaam kar diya.
Aaryaman: dekh ab ek aur baar tune sunaya ma mujhe toh I swear main Nandini ko sab bata dunga.
Voice: chal chal dhamka kisko raha hai. Manik Malhotra kisi se darr ta nahi.
Aaryaman: exception Nandini.
Manik said nothing while Aaryaman laughed. Manik was called again by his father.
Aaryaman: chal bye. Tu jaa. Baad main baat Karege. And yeah thank you.
Manik: thanks to you too bro.
That's how Manik and Aaryaman's relation had changed after the talent hunt. For Manik, Aaryaman was the first friend who was not a part of Fab5 or from his school days. For Aaryaman, friendship with Manik meant something different. Where he had come to seek revenge from Manik for his sisters death and where he was right now helping Manik like a friend. Their relation changed from enemies to friends. And maybe in future to best friends!
