Designed to add to the intimidation,
A meditative ocean of secrets
Unlike anything I've ever known before,
Betraying neither subtlety nor openness,
Confidence nor vulnerability.
They are not a lover's eyes;
They are not my lover's eyes, yet they still
Hold a glimpse of something austere and
Utterly perfect.
You hold me in your arms, and there is a space
In which I cannot help but fit perfectly,
Despising you for being so arrogantly blatant, a
Self-assurance that comes with years of experience
I have yet to discover.
You are terribly misguided if you believe you can make me happy,
But, for this moment, I am yours,
And you know as well as I that everything else
Is simply an irrelevant inconvenience.
You remain an unspoken challenge,
A glittering example of the unattainable
You imagine I cannot see---
