"Ava, your dad and I are going out for a meeting there's some left over lasagna in the fridge from yesterday, if you need anything call me. Bye honey!" My mom yells from downstairs then there is the sound of a door being slammed shut.
Both my parents work so neither of them are home so often, but I'm not complaining.
My family lived in Sydney but we moved to San Francisco to start afresh after my grandmas death.
She meant a lot to us, we were really close to her.
I have two siblings, my older brother Brian who is in collage, he's 22 and he lives with his girlfriend Andy, in Australia. He didn't move because he wanted to finish University back in Australia.
I was not happy moving to San Francisco, not just because of my grandmas death but also because of my child hood best friend Sam.
Sam was my best friend since we were in diapers, I didn't tell him we were moving until the very last day in Australia...but I told him through text, I know that was a stupid thing to do but I couldn't face him.
He read the text but he didn't respond, I don't blame him, if I were him I wouldn't respond to me too.
I have a younger sister named Sophia, she's 15 but she looks older than her age.
We moved here a week ago, school starts in two days and I'm not looking forward to it at all. I have so many questions in my head.
will I make any friends? How will they treat me? Would people like me there? What will—
My chain of thought where broken by a knock on the door.
"Come in" I say.
My sister walks in with a bowl of lasagna.
"Sophia, I'm not hungry" I mumble.
"Ava you haven't eaten anything since morning, you need to eat something...look I know you didn't want to leave Sam but you have to let go of things someday in your life."
"I love you, I don't know what I would do without you" I told Sophia.
"I know I love myself too" she chuckles.
Sophia and I talked about random things until she told me she had to go sleep because she wants to wake up extra early so she could go for a jog, Sophia and I are siblings but we don't have many things in common, for example she likes waking up early to go for runs and I don't...I'm not a morning person.
I quickly eat my lasagna and get ready to sleep...well not exactly cause all I could think about was how I would cope in my new school.
