I laid on the cold, hard cement in front of Al's Pizza Parlor soaked in my own blood. The cars and sounds of the city New Kyoto would've drowned out any sound I would make, if I could. I continued feeling colder and colder each minute that passed by. I tried to scream out for help realizing that my lungs couldn't get enough air to scream out. I was in agony, the knife that he had plunged into my rib cage felt like it punctured my lungs as I could feel them quickly filling.

I prayed for a miracle. I kept trying to reach out to my animamealta or my twin spirit but he wasn't listening. I was not going to give up that fast, I never did. 'Dammit Altair, you can't still be angry.' I thought panicking as I reached out again. *Altair, help, sos, dying, outside Al's, send help.* Again, silence.

A tear trickled down my cheek as I realized that no help was coming. The rain went from a steady drizzle to a heavy downpour, causing the rain to turn deep red all over me. I started to slip into the unknown when I saw a shadow coming towards me with a very familiar shape, I felt him gently lift me up as my head leaned against his chest.

As you can tell, this story isn't rainbows and butterflies. I am going to warn it's scary, it's sad and if you are one who cries easily, I would recommend setting this book down, getting up, going to your bookcase and get the happiest book on your shelves. Read that instead of the book in your hands. If you do continue, don't say I didn't warn you.

"C'mon Kiera, don't give out on me now. Stay awake please," Altair begged me. I tried to keep my eyes open as much as I could by looking at the stars in the night sky and the colorful signs that passed by us on the way to wherever he was taking me. I looked at his face as tears streamed down his face. The rain had soaked both of our clothes but I could still see he was crying. I raised my hand and wiped the tears off of his pale face, his black hair stuck to his face. The lights of New Kyoto lit his face up and made his eyes sparkle. I realized in that moment something so important to both of us, something I should've seen before.

I was born in the country of Asaela, in a city known for its fierce black magic called New Kyoto. With Black magic being so strong, there was a surplus of light and mid-magic people who stood against the evil. My parents used magic and were one of the many on the police force that stood against the evil in New Kyoto. When I was a year old, there were a group of fanatic anti-magic people who started bombing places where many people gathered. My parents rushed to the scene of the third attack, where the group attacked again with more than half of the city's police force in the vicinity. 176 people were injured and 25 had died, two of those who died were my parents. President Seer, the President at the time and current President, made it a point to make capturing the fugitives the number one priority, it took them a few months and ten attacks later to find them. I didn't know them well, I was only one year old, but I knew them by the stories I was told of them.

When they died, I was sent to my grandmother's. She had the gene but refused to use magic. She wasn't very nice, she smelled of old lady and the eighty year old had way too many cats. I only stayed there for about one year and then she died in her sleep, I was 3 years old. I didn't understand why everyone was leaving me. I was then sent to my only last living relative, my estranged uncle Joshua. Unlike my grandmother, he used magic. He taught me what I know today and while he was very eccentric, I didn't much care. In my eyes, he was awesome.

Joshua took very good care of me and taught me how to use my powers for good, not evil. He taught me all he could, including raising me into the woman I am today. I loved him dearly, he would become one of my only support systems through this entire thing. My uncle was my father's only brother and the only one who truly pursued magic since their great-grandfather. He was my favorite person in the world, he was into teaching me everything he knew about the world. However, he refused to teach me magic till I was prepared, in high school. To me, I understood. Magic was dangerous, though natural now to the human race, it was still dangerous and like anything that could be used as a weapon, it was something that I had to wait to use till I was prepared.

See, about 70% of the human race has a magic ability, 30% had none and that number grew smaller every century. Magic hadn't been around forever though. One day, about two hundred years before I was born, a giant asteroid sailed straight past Earth leaving a particle that floated to the people below it's path, many gaining magical powers each one different than the other in its wake.It was passed down generation through generation, changing with each child. No one knows how this "gene" worked, they are leaning towards a virus that changed the DNA of the normal human being. The people with the gene usually had a specific type of magic they could do, all pertaining to an element- Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Some, even had all of the elements, having all the elements plus the new element of Spirit was rare only one child in every generation was born with this gift.

The gene made the world advance ten times faster than before but society changed, civilizations crumbled and fell. This caused the world to fall back to what it was like in the 21st century. Luckily there were people who used their powers for good, healing, making things, crime fighting, and more.

Where there is light though, there must always be dark. There were many people who found the dark side more appetizing and began using it to their advantage and with that came war, famine, and atrocities. World War 3, 4, and 5 came to pass because of this, the history of countries like the USA and Britain were soon being lost to the history books. Countries like Asaela and Eliso rose to meet the challenges of what the USA and Britain had set out. It became a good versus evil, light versus dark, instead of country versus country (how it used to be).

What we didn't realize was that everything that had happened in those two centuries, was nothing compared to what we were about to face. We were about to face one of the scariest and darkest people that has ever walked this earth, the strongest dark warlock in history... Lazarus.

Altair was the only thing that was in my eyesight and I continued trying to keep my eyes open watching his beautiful face. I loved him and that was the truth I hadn't accepted till I was dying. A tear trickled down my face, he looked down and saw my face buried in his chest, "Kiera you can do this, we are almost there. I was trying.

Lazarus had begun from humble beginnings. Sadly, humble beginnings mean nothing when someone is pure evil. It only takes one event to show their true personality. His father was a carpenter and his mother a stay at home mother. He had four siblings, three brothers and one sister. He was the eldest of the five children and strived to show his siblings that you can do anything you want to do, and he achieved his dream when he was accepted into the best Magic School called Nicholas Flamel's School of Magic. It is the most prestigious high school you can go to in the country and he was accepted. Excited he attended and strived to do his best but in his second year a boy named Ira who specialized in White magic and not mid (mid means that the person uses white and dark, allowing a balance between the two.) like Lazarus, transferred in based on recommendation. Ira stole the top spot in his graduating class. It angered Lazarus, so he just strived to do better.

One day, before third year finals, he walked into the library and sat down across from Ira, hoping to make friends with the guy who took his top spot. What he found instead was Ira cheating, he stood up and shouted, "So this is how you've stolen my spot?! You have been cheating and now you'll graduating in my spot because you have been cheating! You shouldn't receive your degree! I am telling the principal." He got up and pushed the chair out, grabbed his pack and heading for the library door.

"I wouldn't do that," Ira threatened. Lazarus stopped and growled. He then went to open the door and was attacked by Ira. Ira had sent a white bolt through Lazarus which knocked him face first into the shut door.

Seated on the floor, Lazarus turned around, he wiped his nose and saw blood. "How dare you attack me! I did nothing but call you out on your lies. Even worse, how dare you use white magic against me?!"

Ira growled, then laughed like a maniac, "You really believed that I was using white magic?"

Lazarus glared and tried to get up, finding out his arm and leg were broken, "You're evil."

"Thank you," Ira said bowing. "You won't be a problem or threat to me anymore." Ira got out a knife and stabbed himself twice.

"You're insane!" Lazarus screamed.

Blood soaked Ira white uniform shirt, "HELP LAZARUS STABBED ME!" Ira hollered.

"But, but, I didn't!" Lazarus shouted.

The librarian came running in, "What the hell happened in here?"

Ira cried and clutched him bleeding stomach, "He, he stabbbed me," Ira pointed to Lazarus who was in tears.

"Ma'am, I didn't, he was cheating and I threatened that I would make sure he wouldn't graduate and then he attacked him, I couldn't have stabbed him him if I wanted to. He broke my arm and my leg." Lazarus mumbled.

"He lies!" Ira pointed at him, his long white hair stained with blood swayed.

The librarian pointed at Lazarus, "How dare you lie to me boy. The police are coming, don't think about trying to escape!"

Ira smiled with an evil look about him, his snake eyes glaring with hate. The librarian grabbed Lazarus up by his broken arm and he screamed. "You can't do this, I did nothing wrong!" The police arrived and Lazarus pushed aside the librarian. "You are all corrupt! You think that dark magic is light and light is dark, you allow people like Ira to get away with everything. I was the hardest working student and I found he was cheating, called him on it and I got hurt, yet you all believe I stabbed him." he screamed. "No more! You will all regret this day, you have not seen the last of me!" Lazarus began to glow with a red light, no one had ever seen this type of magic before. According to accounts, his short white hair changed to red and his face became scarred with a red scar over his left eye. "You will regret this Ira!"

And he was gone just like that, for years the police searched but got no where. When Ira was found murdered in his bed, the police knew he was back. I was ten when this occurred. Ever since, people were put on high alert and told to stay away from people they didn't know. Groups sent to find him never returned, you either never returned or were found dead. By the year 207 A.M (After magic), he had began gathering more and more followers, some even in the highest reaches of government. Those that feared him followed him, those that fought, fell. He got what he wanted from his people, fear and power. Only a powerful magician could defeat him and that person hadn't come along.

My uncle taught me all he could when I turned 15. He was an amazing teacher and part of a group of magicians called The Magica Coloris. The group is a secret organization with the job of protecting the world from people like Lazarus. Unless you were in it, no one knew they existed for their own safety. They've stopped people for ages and still do. I was brought up to be a part of it as soon as I came of age. I was excited, I was fifteen in two months when everything began. Fifteen the age of power, the age you find out what powers you have.

Laying in Altair's arms, I started to drift in and out. I was in too much pain, I couldn't hold on much longer. My lungs were so full that I felt like someone had a pillow over my head. Aleric was still running, he had used a spell that made him run super fast and I knew he was trying to get back to headquarters. I felt I could fall asleep and be ok. My eyes closed, next I opened my eyes and I was on a bed, Aleric was calling for help. "Aleric..."

He turned to me with tears in his eyes, "Don't let go..." He whispered to me.

"Altair, I love you." I whispered and everything went black.

In order for you to understand how I came to be lying in a pool of my own blood, I must take you back to the beginning. So let's begin, shall we?
