A/N
It took longer than I thought it would to write this, but I hope you enjoy and I'll try to get the next chapter out as soon as I can, but it'll still be a while (probably a long while)
Lance
Pidge and Shiro go to find Pidge's brother and father. I head off to find Blue. This place is a maze, I think as I go in search of her. Blue, where are you? I reach out to her and finally find her. I smile and head to where she is. I place my hand on her particle barrier and she doesn't recognize me at first. The door opens behind me and Galra soldiers come in. I growl, forming my bayard into a pair of guns and start shooting them as they come in. I form it into a sword and rush at them, ripping the robots apart. I turn back to Blue, my pupils in slits, as she roars, finally recognizing me.
"Took you long enough," I say and she tells me to shush. I walk into the cockpit as she leans down to let me in. I take a seat and pilot her out of the Galra ship. "God, I hate the Galra," I say as I grit my teeth. "They used to be good, but over the last 10,000 years they've become harsh and merciless." I pilot Blue towards the planet, the others joining, Hunk after he smashes the ion cannon on the ship. I look at it. It won't take them long to fix, but it should be enough time to get ready. We return to the castle and I get out of Blue and examine her to see if there's any damage to her. I know she's tough. Not as tough as Yellow, who's the tank of the five lions with it's massive amount of armor. Red is quicker and has more agility and speed. I go to the main room where the others are. They look at me and smile slightly. I nod to them and look to Allura. "It won't take them long to fix the damage to the ship, but we have long enough to get ready to fight. I suggest you get the barrier up and the rest of us get to our lions. We should get in position, the castle can't move yet, so we'll need to make sure it doesn't take too much damage."
They all nod and Coran and Allura get the particle barrier up and the rest of us go to our lions. I smile at Blue. As soon as we are in position, we see the Galra have fixed their ion cannon and have come down to fight. I get Blue ready to fight, pressing several buttons fire at the ship. I fly towards the ship, fighting the drones when they start coming out. I hear the other paladins talking in the comms and they call me back down so they can attempt to form Voltron. I fly back down and join them. They're running along the ground and I see Yellow ram into Red and facepalm. These guys are terrible at this... I think and the lions get defensive of their paladins, saying that they're not as experienced at this as I am and they haven't had as many battles together before this. I roll my eyes and run my hand down my face as the lions yell at me and the paladins try to figure out what to do. We start flying in formation, by Shiro's recommendation. It's a start, but can we actually do it? I focus on forming Voltron, but nothing happens and I groan in frustration. What are they not getting? The lions get defensive again and I groan. Even Blue is lecturing me. They tell me I'm expecting too much from the humans. I see a purple light and groan again. And now we're about to get captured by the Galra.
~Time skip, because, again, it's the same as the show~
We get back to the castle and they celebrate the win while I just cross my arms and watch them. I look out the large window at the land outside and the wrecked Galra ship. I glare down at the ship and suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder. I look behind me, pupils in slits until I notice it's Keith. I turn back to glaring at the Galra ship.
"What's wrong? We won," he says. "Lighten up." I look at him silently before walking away. Only Keith knows I leave, but he doesn't follow me. I go to the training room, which was one of the only things I used during my 10,000 years alone here since I needed to keep up my abilities. As soon as I walk in, I activate my bayard into the dual guns.
"Start training level 10," I tell the computer. The gladiator drops down and I fire at it as it charges at me. Just before it hits me I jump into the air and form my bayard into a sword, striking the bot in the chest and slicing diagonally. It gets destroyed. " Start next level." A new gladiator drops from the ceiling and it charges at me immediately and I roll out of the way before swinging at it. It blocks my swing with it's staff and I push against the side of my blade, pushing it's staff at the same time, towards it. It pushes back and I release it and drop under it's staff, slamming my shoulder against it's chest to send it backwards when I come back up. It goes back and I jump to a raised area, forming my bayard into a gun and shooting several shots at it. It blocks two of the three shots, but the third shot hits it's chest and creates a hole in it's chest, destroying it. I go through several more levels in such a way until I finish level 15. By the time I'm done, I'm sweaty. I put the bayard away and leave to go take a shower. I leave the room and walk down several halls, walking into the lounge area (The room with the couches) to see the other paladins there, talking. Keith is standing against one of the walls, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro are all on the seats. I just walk past them to one of the other doors.
"Where have you been?" I hear someone ask. I look behind me to see everyone looking at me. "Why are you all sweaty?" Keith asks.
"I was training," I say simply. They all nod. Shiro stands up and looks at all of us.
"We should try forming Voltron because we're going to have to do it again," he says and I nod.
"Give me a few minutes, I'm going to go shower really quick."
They nod and I leave to go shower. I walk into my room and to the bathroom. I remove my armor (the only thing he has to wear) and step into the shower. A few minutes later I step out, put on my armor and step out to go join the others. I stop outside the lounge area to find them still there. I listen to their conversation for a few minutes. Hunk says something about Pidge having a girlfriend teasingly and Pidge retorts she doesn't have a girlfriend. I tilt my head at this. Was having same sex relationships not normal? I continue listening to them.
"Have you guys noticed that Lance seems to be a bit agitated or stand-off-ish?" I hear Pidge ask.
"He seemed a bit upset after the battle with the Galra earlier even though we won," I hear Keith say. That's because you all are terrible. You have no clue how to do anything. I say in my mind. The lions start to lecture me again. You guys get attached too fast, seriously. They don't say anything, but I can tell they're angry. I mentally stick my tongue out at them.
"He's just not used to us. And we have to keep in mind that he's used to the original paladins and knows more about the lions than we do. I'm sure the original paladins were much better and seeing how we fly them with such little experience must make it frustrating. Just give him some time," this time it's Shiro. I lean against a nearby wall.
"Just because we aren't experienced with this doesn't mean he should avoid us or be angry with us."
"He doesn't avoid us, but he certainly seems angry," Hunk says. He's correct, I am angry, but not at them, at their lack of experience. I sigh and finally step into the room and they stop talking.
"Alright, lets go to our lions and start," Shiro says and we separate to our lions. I step into Blue's cockpit and take a seat on my chair. I grab the controls and fly out to the front of the castle. The others fly out, Hunk taking a bit longer. I roll my eyes and turn my lion to face away from the castle. We start to fly in formation. The others let out yells of 'yay' as if they're little kids about to do something awesome. When flying around doesn't work we land and are about to head back to the castle when Allura comes on the comms and starts to test the castle's defenses on us. I smoothly dodge the hail of lasers. The others get hit a couple times and this goes on until the firing stops and the particle barrier goes down. I frown as the others go back to castle. I follow, knowing I won't be able to do anything on my own. I get out of my lion and go to the lounge area, where the other paladins are. I glare at them and they sigh. I notice Shiro isn't here, however. Allura and Coran walk in.
"What are you doing in here? Did you form Voltron?" She asks.
"No, princess, the firing stopped and we returned." I say.
"What?" She asks and Coran says it's his fault, he had to turn it off to run a different test. Allura sighs.
"What are you all doing in here? We're not done," Shiro says when he walks in. I look at him and the other three paladins groan. Coran suggests a bonding exercise. We go to the training room and he gives each of us a headset-thingy and we start. We all put them on and envision something. I envision the original paladins and I on a mission, leaving Zarkon out. I imagine Blue and focus on forming Volton. The only one having trouble is Pidge. I open my eyes when she tosses her headset to the ground. We look at her and she complains about people poking around in her head. Shiro says something I don't listen to and she says she's just tired. We take a break and Coran brings us water. Allura walks in. "What are you all doing lazing about? You should be training."
"We're taking a break," Shiro says.
"Get up, it's time you faced the gladiator." She says and we all get ready to face the gladiator. This will no doubt be set to a simple level, perhaps I should sit this out?
"Princess, perhaps I should sit this out? If I participate it would be over very quickly. I have already faced the gladiator on level 14 before." I can actually go farther than that, but I prefer to start at ten and work up each time, see how far I'll get endurance-wise. I look at where Coran and Allura are.
"You will participate, but will only step in if the others get beaten." She says and I nod.
"Okay."
She starts it and as I thought, it's slow, not using many of the skills available to it, focusing more on striking. Once the others are defeated, I step in, rushing at the gladiator and slamming against it to keep it away from the paladins. I form my bayard into a sword and slash it's head off. I put my bayard away and look to the paladins on the floor, who are staring at me. I shake my head disapprovingly. Allura and Coran come down and start talking to the other paladins while I talk to Coran about possibly checking certain systems they may not have checked and tested yet.
