One year ago today i lost my Nanny.
She was a funny woman, brave, unafraid, cheeky and just wonderful.
We shared the same initials.
We used to enjoy Philadelphia and sweetcorn sandwiches together because we were odd.
We both loved musicals, like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.
One time when out walking woth my mum when she was a child, the elastic of her knickers snapped and they fell to her ankles. My Nan being the woman she was, stepped out of them and kept on walking.
I go past her old flat on the train every other week. Which is odd to me because I remember watching the trains from thay window woth my sister. And now the flat is empty and I'm on the train.
My mum used to give her a rock music test every week. She never failed her!
When my nan had her leg amputated, she said the her sister in law,
"Honestly Di, it's a great way to lose weight!"
She once thought she saw a friend of hers climbing into the back of his work van, so she gave him quite the slapon the backside.
It wasn't her friend.
My Nanny was quirky and crazy, loving and wonderful. She never failed to make me smile and I miss her so much.
So here's to you Nanny. I love you and i miss you. I hope the barricade boys are looking after you.
One day more,
One more day,
One day,
More..
