John and Cynthia were finally getting a night out on their own and they were thankful for it but they were worried as Paul was the only one who could babysit for them. They both knew that Paul was good with kids but he was not around them often as he was the only one left out of the boys that did not have a kid yet
" Do you think he will be ok with Julia?" Cynthia asked full of concern for what may happen
" He will be great he's a smart lad our Paul and Julia likes him" John answered half listening to his wife as he was busy fixing his tie
" I hope he does not invite any women over you know what he's like"
" He wont as he know's i would cripple him. Im away to check on the little angel" John said walking out of their bedroom and entering Julia's where she is lying on the bed
" why are you lying on your bed? are you excited to see uncle Paulie tonight"
" NO" Julia answered her attitude seeping out with every word
" Why not" John asked confused as Julia loves Paul
" Because i want to go out with you and mummy to get ice cream" she said jutting out her bottom lip
" We are not getting ice cream but there is ice cream in the freezer and if you are a good girl i will tell Paulie to get you some"
" what flavour is the ice cream?"
" strawberry your favourite"
' Daddy chocolate is my favourite" she huffed
" Julia you told me yesterday that strawberry was your favourite"
" well today chocolate is my favourite"
There was a loud knock on the front door and Cynthia rushed to answer it
" Ello Cyn" a cold looking Paul said shuffling from one foot to the next
" Hello Paul come in out of the cold" she said while taking Paul's coat
" so where is my girl then?"
" im afraid she is in the middle of a tantrum as she does not want us to go out" Cynthia said laughing
" oh dear"
John entered the room holding Julia
" Well you told me strawberry was your favourite" John said
" i didn't i said chocolate"
" no you didn't"
" Yes i did"
" no you did not"
" yes i did"
" Julia you didn't"
" John will you please stop arguing with a 3 year old" Cyn scolded
John placed Julia back on the ground and himself and Cynthia put there coats on
" Julia baby it's time for us to go" john said
" Why can't i go? is it because you don't love me no more?"
Julia had never been babysat before and had no idea what was going on and now that Julia said that John did not want to leave her
" Cyn we should stay in you no"
" no John she will be ok with Paul im sure that he can cope"
" I can do not worry just go and have fun"
" Daddy please don't go let mummy and uncle Paulie go out for chips and you can stay with me" Julia begged holding onto John's leg
Paul grabbed Julia and held her in his arms
" Just go now while i have her she will be fine once you have left" Paul said urging them to just go
John and Cynthia left the house and Julia started to cry
" Stop crying love it's ok"
" I want my Daddy" she sobbed
" Daddy will be home later" Paul said rubbing a circle into the child's back to soothe her
" You pwomise" she asked rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands
" I promise"
Julia nestled her head into the crook of Pauls neck
" so what shall we have for dinner?"
" chips" Julia yelled finally cheering up
" and what shall we have with your chips?"
" more chips" she giggled
" i think i can manage that"
Paul set Julia back down and she ran into her bedroom and emerged with her blank sheets of paper and her crayons which she promptly set up on the kitchen table while Paul giggled at her climbing on the seat so she can sit down
Paul put the chips into the oven and cleared up the kitchen while Julia drew a picture
" uncle Paulie i drew you a picture"
" you did" he replied walking over to the child and looking at the picture
" That's lovely uhm what is it"
" it's you having a cup of tea with a sheep silly " she giggled
" oh that's nice i have always wanted to drink tea with farm yard animal" he joked making Julia giggle again
Paul walked over to the oven and took out the chips then when he divided them into two he setJulias plate of chip's in front of her
" can i have some blood please?" she asked
" You want some blood" Paul asked shocked wondering what on earth was happening on this household
" yes it's in the cupboard
Paul walked over and quickly opened the cupboard and sighed when he realized she meant tomato ketchup
" oh you mean tomato ketchup"
" yup me and Daddy call it blood to freak mummy out " she laughed
Paul covered her chips in 'blood' and they ate while Julia started to hum the tune of help
" you like the song help i hear"
" yeah i love my daddys songs"
" i hope you like mine as well" Paul asked
" yeah but there not as good as daddy's"
Paul laughed as he knew that John would of loved that reply he was always joking about his songs being so much better
Once that dinner was finished and once Paul washed all the tomato ketchup of Julia's hands and face Julia went back to drawing this time she was drawing her daddy a picture
"can i have some juice please"
" of course"
Paul grabbed a glass and filled it up with orange juice and handed it to Julia
" thank you Paulie boo" she laughed
Julia was in the middle of taking another drink of juice when Paul dropped a plate and the sound of it smashing against the ground made Julia jump and her juice ended up all over her hair. Paul looked at her covered in juice and he laughed
" im all sticky" she giggled
" come ead lets get you in the bath juice girl"
Paul filled the bath with water and lots of bubbled while julia sat on the toilet swinging her legs back and forth
Paul set her in the bath and began to clean her up while Julia splashed and sang and once she was out of the bath he put her into her duckie pjs
" uncle Paulie can i watch the little mermaid?"
" yes come on you get settled on the sofa and we will watch it together"
He put the dvd on and once the movie began he disappeared into John's room as he knew that Cynthia owned alot of wigs which she wore when the press did not know about her or Julia and everytime she went out with us she wore a new wig so no one would recognize her.
Julia was staring at the tv intensely when Paul walked n wearing a long red wig which made Julia laugh
" you look like Ariel" she laughed
Paul sat beside Julia threwout the whole movie wearing the wig the whole time and he and Julia sang along to the songs. And when it got to the part where sebastion had to get the boy to kiss Ariel everytime the crab would sing kiss the girl Paul would kiss Julia. Once the movie ended John and Cynthia returned home
" nice wig Macca the red really brings out the colour of your eyes" John said in a ladys voice
" thanks John i just fancied a wee change" Paul joked back
"Ello princess i missed you"
" Daddy can you's go away again i want to play dollies with uncle Paul" she whined
" Oh charming when i left you were crying because you wanted me to stay and now you want me to leave again what have you done with my daughter Macca"
" it's not my fault girls love me"
" hey Julia why dont you show John the picture you made for him"
" oh i forgot about that"
Julia ran into the kitchen and returned with the drawing which she handed to John
" wow what is it?"
" it's Paulie in the sky with diamonds" she answered
" wow that's beautiful and that would make a great song title"
After all the worrying about Paul babysiiting it turned out fab and Julia told everyone that she wanted Paul to mind her again
