Floating...water surrounding me... the smell of jasmine and salt water in the air, with the Evanlite suns beating their warm rays down on me. I was at peace - a feeling I had never felt before.
Oh! I glance up and see two figures in the distance. They suddenly became very close to me, so close in fact that I could see them smiling. My parents! It had been so long! They look at peace as well. My mother strectched out her hand gracefully. Oh they are so close now! Excitement bubbled up inside me as I started to meet her hand halfway. However, a feeling of drowsiness instantly overwhelmed me. What... no! No...
"Mother I can't reach you!" I tried to shout, yet my jaw seemed locked into place.
Mother and Father's mouths started to move in sync but no sound came out. Everything turned hazy and then I heard muffled noises... but it didn't sound like what I thought my parents would sound like. This voice sounded harsh and high pitched and, from the little memories I have of my parents, it wasn't what I had imagined.
The peacefulness inside me had now vanished and fear replaced it instead. I couldn't smell the jasmine or sea salt, nor was I warmed by the suns. Instead I was shivering and a damp smell invaded my nostrils.
The voice had become clear now.
"Yvaine! Get up!"

A/N: So that was the first chapter. Sorry if it's short, my future chapters will be longer (this was more of a prologue really). btw I will be explaining what some words mean here, sort of like a glossary :)
Evanlite= The equivalent of the summer season in the world
Also, this world has multiple suns, and in the Evanlite there are two. Hope that clears things up.
