"You're late" Tj says as I enter the studio in his house.
"Yeah, I know, don't ask me why" I say and sit.
"Now that we're all here. Ruby, Matthew, please take the floor."
I move my seat forward and Matthew does the same so that we are facing the rest of them.
"Where's Naomi?" I ask, when I notice her absence.
"Right now her new boyfriend is more important." Seyi answers.
"New boyfriend? I didn't know she was one for relationships."
"Why"
"I don't know, she seems so different."
"Enough about her love life, can we please get back to rehearsing?"
I roll my eyes.
"If you keep doing that so often, its likely they roll out one of these days."
Another eye roll.
"Just start." Tj says tiredly.
Handling a group like us is definitely not an easy task.

I just realized that Julie knows nothing about the competition and the band.
Or she wouldn't be telling me about an outing taking place on the same day.
"Ruby, serious, it will be nice."
"I can't go, Julie, I have something else to do that Saturday."
"Like what"
"Well, I have somewhere very important to be at"
"You didn't answer."
"Go without me, we'll go together some other time, okay"
She frowns and says. "Don't talk to me again" then walks away to the field.
"Love you" I call out.
"And I love you too"
I look up and see Tj getting settled on the grass beside me. I eye him questionably.
"No body was talking to you."
He shrugged and smiled.
"I know" I roll my eyes and look out to the field.
Today is sports friday and everyone is out here on the field, well, except the naughty ones.
"Why are you not playing football with them" I ask.
"I'm not a fan of football" I gasp.
"Seriously, who taught you to lie"
"I'm not joking"
"Wow, that's very rare." I let out a small laugh and shake my head.
"And why are you not with the other girls"
I look over at them. Different polo shirt colours with short skirts. They are all just talking. Probably gossiping.
Typical.
"No thanks, I just like to be alone, most of the time"
We sit in silence for a few minutes.
"So what's the deal with you and Matthew" He suddenly asks.
"Nothing, really, we're just neighbours, and our mothers were classmates."
I explain.
He nods.
We spend the next few hours just talking about random stuff. Before...
"What are you doing this Saturday"
His question takes me by surprise.
"Nothing, why"
"I was wondering if we could go to the cinema and hang out"
"Sure, what time"
"Around five"
"K" We smile and stare.
Just keep smiling and staring. I don't know, but his face is... I really don't know.
I notice a scar on his left cheek. Its not that visible but I saw it. I want to touch it but I don't know if I should. I look closer and notice other ones.
"Why-" I start quietly before I become rudely interrupted.
"Hey guys" Seyi takes a seat beside me.
He's in his jersey and he's all sweaty. Gross.
"Are you guys through" I ask referring to the match.
"No, just took a break and told someone else to replace me."
I nod.
"I just don't know what's so intriguing about the game."
"That's because you're a lady" He argues.
"But Tj is a guy and he doesn't understand it."
"I never said I didn't understand it, I said I don't play" He says lying down with his eyes closed.
"Hey, you're supposed to be on my side " I frown.
He shrugs.
"So, what have you guys been doing all morning" Seyi asks as he also lies down.
I'm about to answer when a ball comes flying at me from nowhere.
Being the idiot I seem to be in this type of situations, I quickly stand up but almost immediately Tj pulls me to back down and I collide with his chest.
The ball misses me by a few inches but that has been long forgotten as we stare again.
He's handsome.
And his scars make him look more handsome.
Someone clears their throat and I blink realizing the position we were in. I sit up and smile tightly.
Those around us were staring but they were few so, oh well.
I look to my side and see Seyi smirking and wiggling his eyebrows.
I glare back. Then roll my eyes.
I wonder how my eyes are still in their sockets.
I look up and see Matthew staring at me.
It makes me wonder.
What the hell just happened??
Then he mouths.
"You're an idiot"
I know.

"Seriously, what were you thinking" Julie says between laughs.
I groan. Turns out word about my idiocy spread faster than I could say 'stupid'.
"Julie just let it go"
"Do you know what people are saying"
I roll my eyes. "I really don't care"
She continues however. "Some say that you're an idiot"
"Tell me something I don't know"
"They say that you and Tj kissed."
"Well, we didn't"
"OK, whatever you say"
We are at KFC. I and Julie decided to have a girls day out.
Then my schedule pops up on my phone telling me something about hanging out with someone tonight.
Oh.My.Gosh.
I check the time.
4:15
"Hey, Julie, can we get going?" I say packing my things.
"Why, what's the rush"
"Well, I'm hanging out with Tj this evening"
"Wow, you're going on a date?"
"Not a date, just hanging out"
"Where is he taking you" She folds her arms.
"The cinema, okay maybe a date, but we're not together."
"Yet" she adds as she also packs her things.
"Whatever"
I leave and get a cab to my house.
My mum and dad went to an event and took my brothers with them since I was hanging out with Julie. They won't be back till nine, so I just have to be back before then.
I open my closet and pick out a pair of jeans and long sleeved top. I packed my in a bun and did light make up which is just white powder and lip gloss.
I get dressed and pick my phone to call him when his call comes in.

OK, I'm outside.
And he hangs up.
Wait, I didn't tell him my address.
He lives in the next street and is friends with Matthew, you idiot.
Hey!
Oh, well.
I pick my purse and go downstairs to open the door.
He looked really handsome in dark jeans and a shirt.
"You look beautiful" he says after a few seconds.
"You're nice too" I say back with a smile.
"Come on" he says.
I lock the door and nod.
