The sound of monitors explodes in my ear drums. I hate hospitals; they are so sterile and white. I'm only minorly injured, but ever since Kyle, Mom freaks out at the slightest of injuries. Mom rushes me into a room to be evaluated.
"Looks good to me. She only has a minor sprain, nothing to freak about, Honey."
"Oh, thank goodness! Will she be okay?! Should we cancel our trip?!"
"No, go to Hollywood. Maybe some fresh air will do you both good. Just grab the crutches at the house. Annalise, stay off of your right leg."
"Got it, Dad." Oh, Zac swapped from neonatal to E.R. ten years ago. He wanted to help people like Kyle. He's also now my doctor.
"Are you sure that she won't try to hurt herself?"
"Brittany, Annalise is fine. She's not suicidal. Clumsy, yes but she's not suicidal." He's got a point there. The ground and I have always been on a first name basis. We are one step below dating. "Well, I'm going to get back to the injured. I love you Annalise; come give me a kiss. I love you, Honey."
Mom and I chorus with, "I love you too."
As Mom and I hobble out of the hospital, I can only wish better for this trip. Hopefully Hollywood is better than Maine.
