My parents didn't move. They just sat there looking out the window watching the neighbor hood I grew up in crumble.
The debris flew and the STOMP STOMP STOMP of soldiers boots across the cobble stones. The pitter patter of running footsteps of people fleeing that I could blend in with.
My parents didn't budge. I wanted to leave bit I didn't want to leave my parents. I looked at my mom and for the first time since the thing started she looked at me.
She had tears in her eyes, and suddenly a lot sprung to my eyes.
"Please come with me. I don't want to lose you. But we can't stay. I love you some much." I whispered after I was giving her a hug.
"I can't honey. I wish I could. You are more than you know. I love you so much. Keep what is important to you, and make sure you do nothing that you will regret," she lifted the long skirt away from her ankles. There was an anchor that connected her to the floor. "I did and this shows anytime I wish to leave. Your father has it too."
He lifted up his pant leg and he did.
"We love you so much. We already packed bags and backpacks for this. Honey, you have to go. You aren't safe. This is the only way we can save you."
I gave them a big hug and kiss. I started to sob and my parents did too while straightened my hair.
"Go to Jess and find a Miss Sadie Amangra. You need to know that this will change your life. We are sorry from keeping it from you. We love you so much."
I said my last good bye, grabbed my bags, and left the house.
I am on my own now. I've gotta find Jess. I am an orphan and I'll have to live that way.
