to be more original, i suggest
staying away from the bit overused
plots listed below.
DONTS:
if your oc is related to tony,
give them a more complex relationship
with him!
best shield agent💀
overpowered original character
with no weaknesses
stealing lines from other
characters
when the avengers are out of character!! (tony is more than a player, thor is not dumb, steve is more than just a sweet friend.)
steve treats oc like
daughter/sister (only because this
happens in every single book!! make
him have a different type of relationship
with the oc for once)
mary sue
every avenger loves the mc
peter parker always has
a crush on the mc.
i know my boy is a softie
but still doesnt mean slow burn
ships are not possible for peter parker fics.
overused marvel faceclaims
(cough, camila mendes &
danielle campbell for
peter fics, cough)
unrealistic powers in the mcu
(the mcu is SCI-FI, not fantasy.
take that into consideration when
picking a power.)
give absolutely no explanation as
to how they got their powers.
give basic explanations as to how
they got they powers (they were experimented on by hydra! how original!)
(mostly for steve or bucky fics) they've
been kidnapped by hydra and wake up almost a century later with no memory of their pasts. aka the most overused marvel plot

foreshadowing for the infinity war movie
give your character motivation for being good/bad
give your character a reason to be involved in the avengers. what does she offer? what does she change?
make your oc's power develop instead of the oc reaching the full ability of her powers from the start of the book/series.
your oc DOES NOT have to be friends with all of the avengers to become one.
different, original relationships between your oc and avengers. maybe the oc hates captain america? maybe they feel closest to falcon?
give your oc a weakness
for once make your oc have a crush on peter before peter develops a crush on the oc
your oc might be collateral damage from past movies!
your oc does not have to be an avenger. make her a shield agent, a guardian, from wakanda, there are endless possibilities.
a bucky love story stand alone set in ca:tfa (every bucky fic is a trilogy when it doesnt have to be)
