(Out in the jungle. Laurence looking for Emily.)
Laurence: Emily! Emily?
Emily: (Who has obviously been crying) Mr. Robinson?
Laurence: Are you alright?
Emily: I- yes - I don't know.
Laurence: I know it's hard, dear.
Emily: I didn't mean it...about the orange plantation.
Laurence: (With a little laugh) I know you didn't.
Emily: (After a pause) Sometimes it's wonderful, being here on this island. Franz, Jacqui, Abi... they're the younger siblings I never had back home. And Fritz... (Glances nervously at Laurence)
Laurence: (Nodding) I know what being in love is like.
Emily: (Smiles, then looks down) But sometimes I feel like I don't belong here. This is your family's island, and... I don't want to be a burden.
Laurence: You're not a burden, Emily.
Emily: (Standing and walking away a few steps) But, if I left, all of you could just be one happy family again. You wouldn't have to worry about someone else. Just your family.
Laurence: Elisabeth wanted me to come find you. She said...she didn't want her daughter eaten by a tiger out here.
Emily: Her...her daughter?
Laurence: Yes.
Emily: But -
Laurence: And mine. (Pause) Please, come back, Emily. You're one of us.
