Issei was standing inside the headquarters of his peerage, he stared down at the unconscious figure on their sofa which was (Y/N) with bandages wrapped around his arms and legs, he scowled at thinking what happened after Asia left with them.
(Flashback)
(Y/N): Damn you, fallen angel scum...
His head dropped to the floor making Asia gasp in shock and Issei to grit his teeth from the pain, he attempted to crawl over to (Y/N) only to be stopped by Raynare's voice.
Raynare: Well then, shall we go Asia?
Issei: No! I won't let you!!!
Raynare: Oh? Still trying to save her? Well that's no good, the way I struck (Y/N) down means there's many openings in his body which could cause him to bleed to death, unless you get the proper attention straight away the boy will die.
Asia: No! You promised!!!
Raynare: Did I? I don't remember making a promise where I'd keep him alive, the only thing we need... is that earring.
Issei gasped in realisation before looking down at (Y/N) who had blacked out from the blood loss, more specifically the white orb earring attached to his left ear, Raynare's grin grew wider at seeing Issei's expression of realisation.
Raynare: It's your choice Issei: you can try and stop us and get both yourself and (Y/N) killed, or you could take that earring off him and hand it over, that way you can guarantee everyone's safety, even Asia!
Issei: Yeah right! What's so special about his earring anyway!?
Raynare: Weren't you listening before? That earring holds great power and could potentially become one of the most powerful weapons to ever exist, it could solidify my survival in this world at not only Twilight Healing, but whatever that earring does too!!
Asia looked to be on the brink of tears when she saw the amount of blood forming under (Y/N), his skin was even starting to grow pale, Issei growled as he realised the situation: risk his life to save Asia but let (Y/N) die, or let Asia go so (Y/N) can live. It was a tough decision, one that wasn't fair, and he didn't have much time either as (Y/N) was still dying from blood loss.
Raynare: Make your choice: give me the earring, or try to save her...
He knew there was an obvious choice in the matter but he couldn't help clenching his fist in anger, but then, he sighed in reluctance and looked away.
Issei: Fine...
(Flashback end)
(Y/N) no longer had his earring on his left ear and Issei couldn't help but feel guilty about it, he clenched his fist again, this time he was angry at himself. If only he was stronger, then he could've easily avoided a situation like that; Asia would be here and (Y/N) wouldn't be unconscious, he even felt tears form at the corner of his eyes.
Issei: Why? Why am I so damn weak? (Y/N) and Asia have suffered enough, and I wanted to help them but I only made things worse... what would've happened if I never went to that house and never found that crazy exorcist?
???: They would both be dead...
Issei jumped at the voice and turned to see a blonde-haired male with blue eyes and wearing the same school uniform as Issei, although the only difference was that this boy wasn't wearing the blazer, he had the white shirt underneath on instead.
Issei: Kiba, what're you...?
Kiba: Fallen angels are known to be the wickedest of all three factions Issei, even if you never messed it up as you claim, they both would've been dead. It's actually good that you met and interfered with the fallen's plan.
Issei: Why's that huh!? How is this better!? Asia's probably going to die soon and (Y/N)'s lying here not doing anything!! He's even lost his earring, it was the one thing that was giving him his strength.
???: No, you're wrong.
They both turned to see a small girl with short white hair and hazel eyes wearing their school's uniform, she was holding a chocolate bar in her hand obvious signs of being bitten into as she stared emotionlessly at the two.
???: I can easily sense the potential in him... he's still strong enough to take on devils, maybe even those fallen angels. Issei, you said he used light weapons, right?
Issei: Yeah, what about it?
??? + Kiba: Because he's awake.
To prove their statement true, the little girl barely missed a light spear that would've pierced through her stomach if she was slower. Kiba suddenly had a sword out of nowhere but Issei jumped in front of him.
Issei: I already told you before: don't attack him!
(Y/N): Where... the hell... am I? Issei!! Where the hell is Asia!?
Issei looked down in shame as (Y/N)'s expression was a mixture of emotions: confusion, anger, and a slight tint of fear although none of them could see that emotion. He only just noticed something that instantly calmed him down.
(Y/N): Hey... where's my trench coat?
Kiba and Issei's eyes go flat at that question, they stared at the boy in disbelief whereas the white-haired girl walked out of the room.
Issei: That's your biggest concern?
(Y/N): Idiot! Didn't you hear me ask where Asia was!? The trench coat comes second...
???: You mean this trench coat?
Everyone looked to the source of the voice, only to see the white-haired girl had the trench coat on her, obviously it was too big for her as the bottom part dragged across the floor while the sleeves ate her arms. She pulled one sleeve up to reveal the chocolate bar she had before and bit into it.
???: It's comfy, so I'm keeping it.
(Y/N): No, you're not, that belongs to me, devil...
Kiba: You know what we are?
(Y/N): I've reluctantly hung out with Issei, and I can easily sense your devil signatures... hang on, why do I feel an unnatural breeze in my... left... ear...
(Y/N) instantly grew a dark aura of evil intent while Issei went to hiding behind Kiba who started to sweat nervously at the pressure coming from the boy in front of him. Despite them being at the same age, and the fact that Kiba should have a natural advantage over (Y/N) due to him being human, Kiba couldn't help but gulp when he saw only one eye appear on (Y/N)'s face which was glowing red.
(Y/N): Issei, did you let them have my earring by any chance?
Issei: Uhh...
Two light spears appeared in his hands while his expression turned to one of fury.
(Y/N): You idiot!!! I'm gonna kill you for letting them have it!!!!!
Issei: Have mercy on me!!!!
(Timeskip)
Issei laid beaten and broken on the floor next to the other three, Kiba had white eyes filled with fear while the girl seemed unfazed while snuggling into the trench coat she took ownership of, (Y/N) meanwhile was looking out the window of the building he woke up in.
(Y/N): What's the fastest route to the church?
???: What makes you think you have a chance?
(Y/N): Experience.
???: But that's useless against them, by now they'll probably have that girl's sacred gear... what was it again?
(Y/N): Twilight healing, a sacred gear capable of healing anything and I mean anything it touches. It's the ultimate in healing... 'Is what an idiot would say, they probably have no idea about the relic of Grace...'
Kiba: Really?
???: Then there's no possible way you can win...
(Y/N): Shut up! Even if there's no chance to win, if there's any chance to save Asia I'll gladly do it, even if it costs my life!
???: You're that willing to save a girl's life? And what do you want from her in return?
(Y/N): What!?
???: Men are always selfish, so you obviously want something from her, is it her body?
(Y/N): Excuse me...?
The same dark aura from before appeared, only this time Issei could swore he saw some electricity flowing off his body, Kiba backed up slightly at seeing the same dark aura as before whereas the girl wasn't even fazed.
???: Your eyes don't show signs of lewdness, corruption or anything that would make me want to punch you...
(Y/N): Huh?
Suddenly the girl took the trench coat off and tossed it to (Y/N) who caught it with a scowl of confusion.
Koneko: The name's Koneko, and you're the first boy I don't want to kill.
All (Y/N) did was scowl further before slipping his arms through the sleeves of his trench coat.
(Y/N): (Y/N), and don't bother following me, I know you won't dare risk your lives for someone you've never met.
With that (Y/N) walked out of the room, manoeuvring his way out since this was a building he had never been inside before, he saw that it was starting to get dark, but he couldn't care less about the time. Only two things were on his mind.
(Y/N): I'm going to kill you... Raynare, and I'll save Asia from you.
(Timeskip)
Standing in front of the church, (Y/N) couldn't help but scoff, for the first time in forever, he was standing in front of enemy territory, ready to risk his life for Asia.
(Y/N): Last time I felt like this was when those religious nuts captured her and attempted to burn her since they thought of her as a witch.
His thoughts were interrupted by a noise behind him, he didn't even bother turning around as he'd already knew their devil signatures and scoffed at their appearance.
(Y/N): You probably only showed up to not look evil or something.
Issei: What!? That's the thanks we get for showing up!? Forget what I said before! You're not cool at all!!!!
(Y/N) growled before slamming his fist into Issei's face sending him flying.
(Y/N): If all you're gonna do is shout you might as well tell the bastards we're here Issei!
Koneko: You're shouting as well...
(Y/N): Shut up!
Koneko: Make me.
(Y/N): Grr...
Kiba: This isn't the time for arguing, Issei already told us how you hate devils, so think of this as a favour for Issei and not you. Ok?
(Y/N): You say something pretty boy...?
Kiba started sweating again at seeing the boy's dark aura yet again, he quickly shook his head before his face quickly became serious.
Kiba: Come on, we better...
Koneko: They know we're here.
And just like that Koneko kicked down the door causing all inside to grow alert, but there was one man waiting for them, his sick grin and sword instantly gave him away.
Freed: Took you long enough boss...
(Y/N) growled while forming a light sword in his hand, only to be interrupted by Kiba sliding in front of him with his sword drawn instead.
(Y/N): What the hell do you think you're doing, devil?
Kiba: The name's Kiba, and I'm giving you an opportunity, even if you fight this guy Asia is still here and will die if you don't get to her fast enough. So go on, leave him to me...
Issei: Me too! I got a score to settle with this freak...
Koneko: I got no problem with this guy...
Freed: Oh, what's this? Shouldn't you be in bed by now kiddo?
Koneko: He's dead... hey, (Y/N), let me break this guy, go on ahead, now...
(Y/N): Tch, this doesn't mean I my view on your kind's changed...
Freed went to intercept (Y/N)'s path, only for Kiba to cut him off. The three devils engaged in battle with the stray exorcist while (Y/N) ran through the structure, he gritted his teeth trying his best to find Asia's signature, it was extremely weak, he had to hurry. (Y/N) snapped his head to the door leading to the basement and nodded to himself before bashing the door down and causing his bandages to fly off his arms and legs.
(Y/N): Asia!!! I'm here!!!
The human boy ran straight to where he could faintly feel Asia's energy, only to come across a gruelling sight: Asia chained up to a cross with her clothes torn and her body full of bruises and cuts. This caused (Y/N) to grit his teeth in anger before he ran over to Asia, only to stop in his tracks when a familiar pink light spear lodged itself into the ground in front of him.
Raynare: So, you survived...
(Y/N) looked up to see said fallen angel, only this time she had his earring in her left ear, it made him even more angry making his hand clench into a fist so tightly that he drew blood. Raynare merely giggled at his entrance.
Raynare: Come to save your little friend? Well it's too late...
(Y/N): No it's not, if I can kill you right now, then Asia's free!!
(Y/N) tossed five light spears at Raynare, only for her to sigh and effortlessly swat each one away, she shook her head in disappointment.
Raynare: Remember...
She gestured towards the earring with a wicked smile.
Raynare: You have no chance against me now...
(Y/N): Like hell I don't!!!
Raynare: I would love to play around with you like old times... but, time's up...
Suddenly Asia let out a scream of pain catching (Y/N)'s attention. He saw something weird happening to Asia as a faint green glow appeared on her chest before it caused a strong wind to kick up and make Asia's hair flow with it, (Y/N) was about to run to her, when suddenly the green glow literally exited her body in the form of two rings.
(Y/N): No...
Raynare: At last... Twilight healing, it's all mine!!!
All (Y/N) could do was look at Asia's lifeless body hanging from the chains on the cross, for the third time in his life, he felt helpless and afraid. He knew he'd failed and that just made it worse causing him to fall to his knees in disbelief while Asia's sacred gear travelled over to Raynare.
(Y/N): Our... promise... I broke it, I... I...
(Y/N)'s fist clenched even tighter causing more blood to draw, but what neither Raynare nor (Y/N) noticed was that fist was occasionally being surrounded by red and black electricity.
