Kiibo's POV
Sleeping wasn't a function that had been installed on me yet.
So, instead, I'd usually just stay up studying biology or the ways human worked. It fascinated me how they could construct immaculate scenes and characters in their heads, each detail refined and perfect, but struggled to draw a stickfigure in real life.
Dreams - one of the things I wanted more than anything.
So, there I was - crosslegged on my bed in the dimly lit dorm room.
Kokichi's room lay on the left, Y/N's room on the right.
Y/N, truly a character. She was the SHSL Oneirologist, which I believed meant that she studied dreams. She could talk for hours at a time about a dream she'd had, and I'd listen for as long as she'd talk.
I closed the book, my fingers tapping on the cover.
Crying.
I heard crying.
That's weird. Humans usually don't cry while sleeping.
I move closer towards the thin wall to my right, listening quietly. Yes, it was sobbing. I tried to search what the problem could be, even tried to bring myself to knock on the door. However, instead of doing something, anything, I just sat and listened.
Y/N's POV
My bedside lamp dimly lit up my face. I pulled my knees up to my chest and rocked back and fourth, trying to mask my sobs as just heavy breathing.
The dream I had... mortifying.
There was loud thundering sounds and explosions all around, the sounds of guns and yelling filling my head. I vaguely remember seeing Kiibo's usually calm face harden into a stern look, glaring at me, making me yell more. I'd woken up in a fit of tears.
I'd always been the paranoid type, worried about the robot uprising and aliens and zombies and stuff since I often had nightmares about them. But when I met Kiibo, I found myself more at ease... even if I was in a murderous killing game. I heard the sound of my doorbell.
At first, I didn't trust whoever was behind that door. My dream was definitely a bad omen - I was not risking it.
My mind started to race. What if not opening the door triggered a series of events that lead to the dream I'd had?
The doorbell rang again, and a voice came from the other side of the door. "Y/N-san? It's late, why are you crying?"
"I-I'm okay!" The hiccup in my voice didn't help my case.
He asked me to let him in, so I did.
He sat himself down on my bed, querying why I was shaking so badly.
"I... I..." When I looked at him, I only saw the deadly glare that he had shot at me, and the weapons on his person. I worked hard on steadying my breathing.
"A nightmare, wasn't it?"
I barely heard him over my loud thoughts. All I managed to say was, "Bad... omen."
He hugged me and told me that it was just a dream. That I'd be okay.
And for a while... I believed him. I shivered when he looked me in the eyes, but his voice seemed to melt the fear away.
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
The school was crumbing down, waves of dust seemingly trying to shelter the school from the despairing destruction. I was running around, yelling, screaming at the top of my lungs. Kiibo was flying high up in the air, firing mercilessly at each and every building.
When he saw me crying, he knew what the dream I'd had so long ago had been about. How did I know that?
He slowly descended until his feet landed on the hot ground. With each footstep, I sobbed more. I trusted him - he was going to kill me.
He crouched down next to me and watched the school burn. I coughed from the smoke.
"...I wish you'd told me..." He said, his expression quiet and his eyes dull, like unpolished metal.
"Don't go."
"Stand back."
My phone buzzed in my pocket as he flew up into the night sky, so close to the dome that had encapsulated us.
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
He exploded.
I yelled.
My phone glitched.
