Negative people. They're like black holes which suddenly come out of nowhere and just suck the life out of you.
Ya know the one I'm talking about. The one who constantly see the negative side of things, never happy, always bitching and moaning excetera exceitera.
At first I was going to actually title this chapter "Those That Complain and Act Depressed" But then I didn't feel like having a bunch of people comment and 'complain' to me about how I'm wrong and what not and that depression isn't a joke. Well come talk to me when you get diagnosed and not have some over glamorized and romanticize, sick twisted thoughts on your reality. Okay? Okay.
When I refer to people 'acting' depressed I'm talking about those people who constantly self-pity themselves.
There is nothing I hate in the world more than receiving pity, whether it is warranted or not. For some reason though, there are people out there who welcome pity at every angle they can get it.
I understand that you may be sick and need to stay home from school, but why would you feel the need to complain about it to anyone whom is willing to listen? This is because we crave attention in any form we can get it and it's pathetic. People will literally brag when they get sick, making a huge deal about a little cough.
For instance people who say things like "bla bla all my friends are prettier than me" but you're absolutely gorgeous and has a lot of friends. I've also seen this other kid say "I only have 3 friends and everyone hates me", yet he has over 5,000 friends on Facebook. If everyone "hates" him, why would that many people add him on Facebook? Not just that, it's also irritating when people complain about relationships, and I'm always just thinking "well, I wish I at least HAD a relationship to complain about, because I never have". It's just like... I wish those people could walk my shoes for a day.
We all have Wattpad friends that use the site as a platform to air every single grievance that they experience in a single day- I really mean, every-single-grievance. From the alarm not going off (aren't you just delaying your morning further by stopping to tell Wattpad?) to the clouds naturally expelling raindrops, my news feed is constantly filled with the mundane complaints of my friends
I have this friend and we're extremely close and I love her to death, but it's draining to talk to her.
Every time I call this friend of mine, I know what I'm in for: a half-hour rant about everything that's difficult, miserable, or unfair.
Sometimes she focuses on the people she feels have wronged her, and other times she explores the general hopelessness of life. She never calls to see how I'm doing, and she rarely listens to what's going on in my life for more than a minute before shifting the focus back to herself.
Honestly, I didn't have the mood or energy to do anything after our conversation. It felt as if someone had sucked the life out of me, and it wasn't until 2-3 hours later that the effect wore off.
This is prime example of a toxic person.
What is a toxic person you ask?
I'm glad you asked concerned reader.
Firstly: my definition of a toxic person- Someone who complains and dumps their problems on you but doesn't do anything to change their situation.
Here are some reasons about why toxic people whine and complain all of the time: They may have a big ego, or think they're better than the rest, and that's (usually) not true. Usually people who complain are unhappy. They are unsatisfied with life. They are not getting what they need or want to be happy, so they complain.
The people on Wattpad that seem to be very emotional, they are always angry and "stressed". They normally have statuses like "Fuck everyone" and "No body fucking talk to me right now I'm pissed off". Usually they claim they have haters, when nobody even notices them.
I see this basically everyday I go on Wattpad. You see I listen to pretty much any genre of music: folk, EDM, raggaetone and a very unique genre music. I'll just call it 'rock' to eliminate confusion. And in this particular genre I've noticed the increasing number of self harmers and/or people who are suicidal. I'm not judging them because ultimately I don't know what they're going through but when I follow those type of people and everyday they post a depressing status or send negative messages to their 2,000 followers just because they can annoys the life out of me.
We understand that people need to vent here and there, but there are some attention seekers who have to whine or complain about something/anything just about every day and we are tired of them.
I really try not to get mad at them because I'm not inside the person's head so I can't fully experience that person's specific issues. I give sympathy to a point as long as they're not blatantly looking for attention.
So think twice next time you want to complain about the traffic, the weather, or people in general. People (i.e me) may not take your complaining as a relateable topic, but rather an annoyance.
