Castle, Beckett, Ryan, Esposito, Mcord and Tom went to the crime scene by walking, it wasnt that far from the precint. While walking they talked and laughed, well Tom was already part of the group, he was a really social person.
When they arrived at the crine scene, there was a car burning but the firemans were already there, but that car wasnt the thing that called beckett's attention, there was a officer with a girl next to him and the girl was crying. Beckett started walking in the girl's direction amd Castle followed her even without knowing where she was going. As they got closer to the girl, they could see she have a school bag in her hand and was pointing to the car, that didnt made any sense on Beckett's head
"Hey, why are you crying?" Beckett asked the little girl
The officer next ti her answer for the girl
"Her parents were inside that car, she saw the car exploding"
"So it was an explosion" Castle said
Beckett was now on her knees, she looked again at the girl and asked
"What's your name swettie?"
"Maddy" She answer betwen tears
"Look at me, Im going to investigate this, and I'll put the bad guys on jail, I promise." Beckett said
"I want to go home" Maddy said
Castle looked at the officer and said to him "take her to the nearest familiar she have"
"Thats the problem, the only family she had were her parents, she family now"
"Castle lets take her to the precint, she cant be here" Beckett said
"Im going to tell the others we're going"
In their way to the precint the girl didn't stopped crying for even a second, Beckett gave her hand to make her feel comfortable
In the precint
Beckett sat on her desk and the Castle gave his chair to the girl, it must be a horrible feeling to see your own parents being murder
"How old are you Maddy?" Castle asked her
"10"
Beckett sent Castle a look saying 'poor girl'
"Maddy, Im sorry for asked this but what were you doing when the car explode?" beckett asked
"I forgot my pencil case on my house, my parents were at the car waiting for me and when I opened the building door, I just saw the car exploding, and then a guy ran in front of me and Said 'Say godbye to your family' and then I ran to a payphone and called 911" Maddy explained
"Wait, can you descrie that man?" Castle asked
"Not really but The only thing I can say about him is that he was a black person (an: I'm not racist)" the girl said
"we need to get a hand on all the cameras in that area" Beckett said
"Meanwhile, what are we going to do with her?" Castle asked beckett
"Stay here for a moment sweetheart , we're coming back in two minutes" Beckett said and pulled Castle by his arm into the break room
"Castle she lost her parents a hpur ago and she dont have any family" Beckett said
Castle sat in a chair and took his hands to his head
"What is it Castle?" Eckett asked him
"I cant imagine what she's feeling right now, we need to talk with Gates"
"Lets go"
They explained everything
"Right now the girl needs to stay with us, she's a witness, later we'll see whats going to happen with her"
"But where's she going to stay while the investiation? She dont have any family now!" Beckett explained
"Lets send her to the adoption, but we'll go there everyday to see if she can help us on anything in her parents case, just then she can be adopted" Gates said
But then Castle felt like he needed to do something "Can the girl stay with us?" he asked
"If detective Beckett agree there's no problem with me"
Castle looked at Beckett and she thought for a moment, then smile and Gates could understand that smile meant YES
"You both go home and try to get something for her, dont think this is a day off, you're still working on the case, and meanwhile, I'll said to the other detectives to keep you update on every detail"

In the Car
"Are coming with us detectie Castle?" Maddy asked Castle who was driving
Beckett turned back to see Maddy at the back seats
"He lives with me" She said
"You should say 'I live with him'" Castle said
"You're a couple?" The girl asked confused
"We are" Both Caskett exclaimed at the exactly same time making Maddy laugh a little
"Thats cute, how i like to work together all day and then go home togetjer again?" She asked curious
"Its nice"
"Are you married?"
"yes" Castle answer
"Hey Maddy, do you like babies?" Beckett asked her
"I love them, why?"
"Cause we have a daughter" Castle said
"Really?! Whats her name?"
"Stana" Caskett answer
"And we arrive"

at the loft
"Wow your house is awesome" Maddy said
"Hey castle, Alexis left a note, she went in a walk with Stana" Beckett said
"Who's Alexis?"
"My daughter"
"How old is she?"
"21" Beckett answer
"Wow"
"She's just my daughter, its from my previous wife" Castle explained
"Ah ok that explains a lot"
"Why dont you go take a shower Maddy?" Beckett asked
"Can I?"
"obsolutely, I'll go take you a towel and I'll show you where the bathroom is ok? Follow me" Beckett said and went to the bathroom
While Maddy was taking a shower, Castle and Beckett started working on the dinner:
"Hey" Alexis said as she opened the door with Stana on the baby car
"Hi" Beckett said taking Stana out of the car
"Alexis just to warn you, we have visitors" Castle said from the kitchen
"Who?" She asked
"A ten year old girl who parents died this morning in an explosion, she had no one to stay with so we offer to stay with her" Said Castle from the kitchen
"Where's she?" Alexis asked
"Right now she's taking a shower" Beckett said. Stana started crying
"I think she's hungry" Alexis suggested
"Im don..." Maddy said but stopped cause she saw Alexis
"Hey dont be scared, my name is Alexis, you must be Maddy right?"
"Hi Alexis" Maddy said. She was wearing a pajama from Beckett that it was big on her but she looked cute on it
"Dinner is ready" Castle screamed
"Lets go eat" Beckett said and all went to the table

After dinner Alexis went out.
Castle, Beckett and Maddy were sitting on the couch and the girl was playing with Stana
"She's really adorable" Maddy said
"She seems to like you" Said Castle
"I really like babies, I was going to have a brother/sister but now..." She said and started crying
"Oh swettie" Beckett said and Maddy putred her head on her shoulder to cry "look at me" the girl looked at Beckett and tried not to cry, Kate putted e piece of the girls hair behind her ear and said "do you want to know sonething?"
"What?"
"When my baby born, you'll probably not be here with us..." She was cut by maddy
"What do you mean with I'm not going to be here?"
Beckett looked at Castle looking for help
"Look Maddy, we think you a really sweet kid but after your parents case close, you'll have to go to a place, a place where there will be people who will want to be your parents" Castle said
"You mean I am going to adoption?" She asked and staryed crying again
"Swettie its not our fault its the law" said Beckett trying to calm her down
"But I dont know anyone there" she said still crying
"Look Maddy, when that time comes, we'll see what happens to you and Im sure whatever they do it will be for your best" Castle said and Beckett smile hearing this
"And I think its time to go to bed" Then she said "you'll sleep in the guest room ok Maddy?"
"Sure" She answer
Maddy followed Beckett to the guest room, she layed on the bed and when Beckett was about to left she called her
"Detective Beckett?!"
Beckett get back inside the room and sat on the bed looking at the girl
"What were you about to say downstairs in the couch?"
"First you can call me just Kate, and I was going to say that when you left us, you can come here whenever you want to play with Stana and the new baby"
"The new baby?!" She asked confused
"Im pregnant Maddy"
"Really?! that's awesome"
"Now try to get some sleep cause tomorrow you'll need to cone to the precint with us ok?"
"Ok...but...hum...Kate can I have a hug after fall asleep please?" The girl asked a little shy
"Of course you can! Dont be afraid to ask"
Kate gave her an hug and then she left to her own room where Castle was waiting for her
"Did she fall asleep?" Castle asked as Beckett got inside the room
"Not when I left. But castle poor girl I cant imagine her pain, she's just ten and her lige is about to change in a space pf a day"
"Dont worry Kate, something is telling me the thing will be ok"
They both get in the bed and fall asleep with Castle's arms around Beckett's small bump
