Rachel's POV
We were about half way through the clean. This room had more dust than an abandoned building! We'd already filled four bin bags; three rubbish, one charity! I was clearing the rest of the floor whilst Joe was dusting.
"So, how long have you been doing youtube for?!" he asked.
"Since I was 19" I answered.
"Why did you start?!" he asked. That was a sensitive subject for me. None of my subscribers actually knew the reason why I started youtube, only Erin knew. But for some reason I felt like I could tell Joe. I felt like I'd new him for years. I trusted him.
"Sorry! You don't have to answer that!" Joe said, looking guilty.
"Really!" I said, shocked.
"Yeah, why would you think you had to!" he asked, confused.
"Oh, it's just with Harvey, I always had to answer him and do everything he said, or they'd be consequences." I explained.
"Oh" Joe said. "Honestly though, if there's anything you don't want to say or do, you don't have to!"
"Really?!" I asked. Was this really true?
"Of course!" he said. "That's not a normal relationship what you and Harvey had!"
"Oh!" I said. "The thing is, he was my first boyfriend so I thought that's what a relationship consisted of. That's why I never told anyone about the abuse. I thought it was normal!"
Joe came up to me and gave me a side hug.
"You don't have to tell me why you started youtube!" he said, in a comforting voice.
"It's fine!" I said, giving a weak smile. "My parents, well my adoptive parents, died when I was 19. After that, I realised that life could be taken away from you so quickly. I'd wanted to do youtube for years before I started it, but I never thought it would be the right time." I explained. "But after they died, I realised life was too short. So I started youtube."
"I'm sorry!" Joe said, putting his hand on mine. I felt a spark in my stomach. What the hell?! Normally if Harvey touched me, I flinched. But I liked Joe's hand on mine. It felt right! Rachel, what the hell are you talking about. Just think about the reasons Joe wouldn't be interested in you.
1- you know you're weak, he'll think it too.
2- he's just being friendly.
3- he feels sorry for you, maybe even pity's you.
4- He's JOE FREAKING SUGG! He would never be interested in someone like you!
"It's fine!" I said and I started to clean again.
At last, we had finished cleaning. Joe's phone bleeped.
"I'm sorry, but I need to go!" he said. I was disappointed. Although more than half the day was really bad, the time I spent with Joe made me forget about it all. For the first time in ages, I was truly happy. I never want this feeling to go away.
"It's fine!" I said, smiling. "Thanks for all the help!"
He looked almost disappointed to be going. Wait Rachel! You're just imagining things, he won't be! He likely can't wait to leave! He's probably disappointed that he's wasted his whole day on me! Yeah, that's right!
"no problem!" he said.
We walked to the door and gave eachother a hug. That really nice feeling spiraled in my stomach. Rachel stop! He won't feel the same!
Joe passed me a piece of paper.
"Bye! Maybe we'll see each other again!" he smirked and left.
I closed the front door after he left. I opened the piece of paper to see eleven digits. OMG! Joe Sugg just gave me his number!
