Chapter 8

I envy people who have a normal life. All they have to do is wake up, go to work or school, come home and go to sleep; then repeat for the rest of their lives. To me, that sounds absolutely blissful.

Waking up, kissing my mother and father on the cheek before I leave for school, father going to work, coming home to find my mother in the kitchen cooking dinner. Sitting at the table, surrounded by books when my father comes in and kisses my head while I study for my next exam. Eating dinner together as a family while we discuss the events of today before settling down and relaxing before going up to bed and repeating the process the next day.

Routine.

I wished for normalcy. The whole town thought my mother was not right in the head, causing me to not have that normal fantasy while growing up. Instead of partying with friends, I was hiding away in my room wishing I could join in on the fun.

Other girls went shopping with their mothers, trying on dresses and sipping on lattes while being spoiled rotten like princesses. But for me? My father took me fishing and hunting. He raised a boy, not a girl. It was not until I received my first period did my father truly accept that he had a daughter, not a son.

I never went to a house party. I never went dress shopping. I have never been to the prom or any dances. I never went out to a club. I never went on study dates with friends or even a regular date for that matter. I have never sat in the cinema and watched a newly released movie while munching on overpriced popcorn.

Looking at Sam now, I saw all of those missed opportunities flash before my eyes like lightbulbs going off one by one. This was a new opportunity, a chance to finally decide what I should do next. This is could be the last time I ever get this offer, to be part of a family and feel that normalcy for once in my pathetic excuse for an existence.

A new family. A new life. A new me.

I wanted all of that. I needed it. The feeling of being a part of something, of feeling like you are wanted and needed by the people around you. To feel like nobody is holding you back, but rather has got your back and will push you to do things you thought you never could. That is what I wanted. I will not let this opportunity drive by me, smiling and waving like I used to do. I am going to jump in the car and wave to those who did miss this opportunity.

Sam dismissed me with a wave of his hand, ordering me to get the clothes I arrived in earlier today. Kicking off the heels, I grabbed them and raced up the stairs to Merida's room to search for my clothes.

Grabbing the simple black and grey clothing, I returned to Sam. He took them from me and we began walking out of the office. A few members of the pack came along with us as we entered the woods.

The darkness covered us like a thick blanket while the fog tickled between the trees and slithered its way along, attacking everything within its sight. The slight chill clung to my clothes, but due to the fog, became damp which invited even more of the cold to envelop me.

My chattering teeth filled the silence. If it were not for my new hearing capabilities, I would have assumed I was alone - but the steady beating of three other heart beats around me told me I was not alone.

That was when the fear combed his fingers through my hair, brushed his hands up and down my arms before plunging his deathly cold hand into my heart and spread his infection all over my body within a matter of seconds.

My pulse thrummed quickly in my ears as my blood raced through my body, trying to keep me warm when fear had prickled my whole body with ice. My breaths quickened as my eyes darted around, searching for anything that would leap out and attack.

Despite the horrific cold battling me, beads of sweat dripped down the sides of my face as well as my back and clung mercilessly to my hair and clothing. Every part of my body was alert, yet was also hazy with fear.

I tried listening for any sounds, but it felt as though I was underwater trying to listen to the voices above the surface. I tried searching for faces I knew to help me lull myself to calm down, but everything was a speedy blur. I even tried to reach out to the people around me but a nagging voice told me that if my hands searched any further, they would be bitten off by monsters.

Wrapping my arms around myself to provide some kind of protection, I crouched to the floor and clenched my eyes shut. I did not want to see the monster come out to attack me, I did not want to know where it was creeping before it finally decided to attack me.

It was not until I felt large, warm hands grip my upper arms in which I screamed. Flailing, I tried to push away from the sudden contact. The monster has caught me, and this time I will not survive.

"Please!" I begged. "I don't want to die!" Tears rolled down my cheeks as I shook violently with the panic that had consumed me whole.

I was pulled into a warm chest. The sensation made me feel protected. I felt as though I were merely a child and my father had hugged me to him to provide protection and comfort from the monsters that surrounded us.

My body slowly relaxed as I became less tense. A hand gently stroked the length of my hair in a soothing gesture. Safe. I felt safe for the first time in my life. I was finally safe from the monsters lurking all around me.

"I should not have asked you to come outside when it is dark like this," came Sam's voice. I could sense the irritation towards himself in his tone. "I should have known that you would react like this to the darkness ever since the attack."

I merely nodded my head in understanding. I had previously given all of the details regarding the attack, to Sam. He wanted to know how I had become a werewolf as I was not born from two wolf parents. He required every last detail of the attack.

Helping me to my feet, he kept a firm arm around my shoulders as I gripped onto his shirt. I just wanted to get this over and done with so I was able to go back to the house and be safe under the covers of my bed.

"Amy? I am going to hand you over to Will now, is that okay?" Sam asked, his voice was gentle - as though he were speaking to a kitten who would run away at the slightest indifference in his tone. I nodded my head.

Reaching out into the darkness with my hands, I jumped when I felt warm hands gently take my own and pull me into another warm, hard chest. Arms wrapped around me as I balled up the man's shirt in my fists.

One hand rested lowly on my back, making sure I stay as close to him as possible, whereas the other massaged the back of my head while I rested my forehead on his chest and tried to control my breathing. The steady thumps of his heartbeat helped me remain focus on calming myself down.

"Amy? My name is Will. I am going to tell you something that you probably didn't know about us werewolves alright?" The man I clung to desperately informed. I nodded my head and he continued. "The popular belief is that werewolves can only change on the full moon. That is actually not the case. Yes we change on the full moon but we have no choice in that matter, but we can actually change whenever we want and when our alpha requests it of us."

I looked up at Will with a confused expression. I raised an eyebrow as though to say, 'what are you actually trying to say and why are you telling me this?' He shook his head and spun me around to face away from him, his arms still wrapped around me tightly.

'Watch this.' Came Will's voice in my head as he pointed at the other pack member and the Alpha having a discussion. 'It is useful information to know. The reason why can shift at any point we please is beneficial for us. Not only does it make it look like we are regular wolves who live in the area, but on the full moon the hunters would not hunt us down and kill us if they saw our wolves at any other time that was not on the night of the full moon.'

The other pack member nodded and stepped back from the Alpha. I watched with awe and fascination at seeing his human body shift so quickly into a wolf. I admired that he did not scream or even look to be in any form of agony.

'The more you shift into your wolf, the less it hurts each time and the faster you will be at shifting. It's pretty amazing,' Will informed me. The shaggy brown wolf sat patiently in front of his Alpha, waiting for his instructions. His obedience was admirable.

Sam told the wolf something in a hushed voice. My jaw dropped to the floor when the wolf grabbed my clothes from Sam with his mouth and began ripping it to shreds. His head shook violently like a dog trying to ravage a bone. The damned beast even tugged the clothing my pinning it to the floor and stretching the fabric that he still in his mouth until the heartbreaking sound of a tear ripped through the forest.

I actually liked those ones too, I thought sadly to myself. When Sam said he was going to tear them up a bit and used the fabric to make it look as though I had gotten attacked, I didn't think he would actually get a wolf to fucking maul my own damn clothes!

'Gotta make it believable,' Will announced in my head. I shot him a glare to which he responded with a toothy grin. 'At least you're not shaking in fear anymore.' I looked down at my body and then back at Will, his eyes were focused on the scene ahead.

I followed his train of eyesight. I had to admit, Will is right. At least I am not shaking with fear like I was before. Although I was still frightened, I had calmed down a generous amount and was not panicking. Instead, my heart was breaking at seeing my clothes being torn to shreds.

Another tear echoed through the woods. It felt as though someone had shot an arrow through my heart. They were my favourite work out clothes as well. A tear fell as I saw him rip my pants clean in half. They will be dearly missed.

Dear, oh dear. Amy's clothes have been torn to shreds! Her precious heart must be broken to see her beloved work out clothes so easily ripped to pieces as though it was a normal, everyday thing for the others.

In other news, I have altered the ending to this story slightly just to give it more impact. You'll see eventually what I mean. But I will admit it is more dramatic now with that added little flourish.

By the way, seeing as you darlings are such treasures, can anyone recommend some new stories for me to read? I mainly stick with Vampire, Werewolf, Paranormal, Romance mixed with the odd occasion of teacherxstudent and even BDSM. Also, don't shoot me but with 18+ chapters too?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. If you guys want to create a cover for any of my stories then please feel free to do so. If I'm impressed then I'll replace the covers with the ones you send.

If you're enjoying this story so far and don't want to miss a single thing, then please don't forget to vote, comment, subscribe and add this to your library and reading lists.

XOXO
