on the way to the itoyama's seven star hotel grand opening( second division in japan), a 24-seat white stretched limousine came to a sudden stop.
"oi. did that on purpose?! imma kill you for getting in the way of my sleep."
"ahh .. summan ito-sama." the driver apologized while scratching his head waiting for his reply.
*ito-sama .. short for itoyama-sama*
he ignored the driver then later on, continued, "Nemui." meaning ~i'm sleepy. he then got back to his comfy seat trying to take back his lost sleep. he couldn't. so he gazed through the window. he saw a brand new Chevrolet Volt beside them. his older sister natsuki-san wanted one then changed her mind again. setting his eyes across, he found a girl behind the dark glass window, wretched. he rolled down his window to see clearly, as if it would make any difference. he stared intently, her eyes were so heartbreaking. someone caught his attention.
"onii-tan? are you listening?" miki spoked softly and vexed.
he looked at his little sister and said "gomen, miki.. i was just~" he spaced out as he glanced by the window and found the Chevrolet Volt wasn't there anymore.
That was the first and last time he saw her. She wasn’t even at the grand opening party.
*** FIVE YEARS LATER..
"thanks for the hard work kichi-chan!" a work buddy uttered.
"oh, no problem. baibai~"
"oi kichi! Chotto matte, i''ll walk you home. its late."
"ryo-kun, no need. thanks anyways. Mata ne!" she winked and went on.
“aho. (dumb ass)” he whispered as he looked away.
Okada Ryoutarou. ryo-kun. The boy next door, he has a pleasing personality that’s only true for those who know him well enough to see him as such. His family owns the shop where kichi hangs around most of her time. He’s a sweet guy who thinks he knows everything about kichi, but he doesn’t. he’s fun to be with though he’s not that talkative nor funny at all.
Kichi. Her nickname means 'lucky'. she loiters around one of the best karaoke blocks in the country, owned by the okada household. She’s useful at times they fall short on staff, coz they can’t just possibly depend on their next hopeless big boss, ryo. She was recently invited to join an elite boarding institute at the high school department. She was taken in by the Sato household five years ago, after her parents died and her brother vanished from her life. The head of the household that took her in died of old age a few years back, he has a despicable grandchild, akira, who is about two years older than her. They squabble from the crack of dawn to dusk, which is one of the reasons she accepted the invitation for school and was looking forward to it.
Sato Akira. Aki-ni or aho-ni [aho means stupid, so it means stupid-brother or something like that] or plainly stupid head as kichi calls him. Akira is a charmer, oddly, his magic doesn’t work on kichi. He wants to be her friend but whenever he tries to, they wind up wearing themselves from blustering at each other all day long. I don’t get it either, but they seem to be enjoying it. He became her older brother, her best friend and her personal assistant through the years though none of them noticed.
***kichi in an elite university, high school division.. opening week.
[April. Schools in japan start the school year in spring.]
She was walking along the corridor while on the phone with akira, and a girl in a white tight hanging sleeveless that’s cut right above her pierced belly button, camouflage short-shorts, black-green-white bangles in her right wrist and a one-inch thick white watch brace, tied into a ribbon and a three-inch white peep-toe. Kichi sensed a spill of her superiority as she was nearing. The girl with her rather unruly hair, which looked quite normal given her outfit, looked at kichi from head to foot.. up and down, up and down then rolled her eyes. She’s not even wearing the school uniform, but neither was kichi. Who would? It looks awful, like they were from a ladies university of northern England.
“geez! People here treat me like I’m a freaking commoner!” she complained to akira.
kichi returned the up and down look and rolling eyes to her. She was stoned, she didn’t expect that from kichi.
“YOU are a freakin commoner!” akira remind her then laughs. “just chill lil sis and stay outta trouble.”
“this sucks.. get me out of here you damn shithead.” she grumbled.
“wait, are you serious!? You’d rather come home and see my face everyday than be in school? man. Makes me wonder what that place is like, and I’m really enjoying the fact that you hate it there.” He said, mocking her with a grin on his face at the other end of the line.
She hangs up and with all her frustrations, she ended up in the rooftop. “nemui. tch. what the hell is with rooftops and sleep?” with that, she had a long peaceful afternoon nap!
Kichi, with what her nickname means (lucky), has lived up to it up until now, she recently found out from the final checklist that she and the girl in a bitchy getup, Ichihara rin, along with three other unfamiliar people were in the same first year class - section A, and she’s stuck with them for the rest of her high school years. It couldn’t get any worse, rich people ~ spoiled, conceited, and egoistic ~ … what’d she expect?
A serene week passed, kichi was in her room. her phone started vibrating like crazy. she didn’t mind it, she thought it was aki just checking in or probably just wanna piss her off. she left the room and went to the hall with her laptop waiting for dinner. Several i.m’s popped, she was giggling to herself. Someone walked pass her with a ‘psh.’ sound. she stood up and took a deep sigh. she tried to keep herself cool. she tried, but she snapped. “what the hell is wrong with you?! gotta problem with me?! say it to my face. damn it!” rin, fell silent for a while, then she told her that people like her (commoners) were simply an annoyance to people like them.
A guy her behind assured her, “she’s just pissed that you got the best room in the dorm, little miss norm.”
as ireful as she was, she just walked back to her room without dinner :( she’s going nuts.
Just as she took her first step up the stairs, the crowd fell silent.
“i-itoyama?” stuttered.
'Itoyama' a single word that scared the hell out of the crowd. she didn’t look back instead, she continued walking upstairs. Puzzled, maybe it’s just her imagination, she didn’t know any itoyamas from her class or elsewhere (she’s still not familiar with everyone in her class, or maybe she just doesn’t care).
She knows she heard that name somewhere. And it terrified her how the name seemed so familiar, knowing she’s not good with names.
she jumped on her bed and got her phone. '8 missed calls' it stated. and the number’s not listed in her phonebook. hm? Its probably miyu or riku, now she’s positive. But knowing them if they need her they’d just barge in her room like a fanatic, even though they’re both at the other half end of the planet.
she did a little research on the itoyamas. Turns out, the family’s rich.. big time! 2 daughters, one is an international lawyer; the other is in middle school and a son, exactly kichi’s age, 16. Probably studying in the same school as she, maybe she just didn’t notice, or maybe he’s abroad, for a better-quality education. who cares? So, the rumors say that when one gets into even just the tiniest bit of trouble with them, he’s as good as dead.
