Alec bolted upright in bed, taking him a moment to realize where he was. His eyes greeted the sight of cream-colored walls and a tabby cat resting underneath a chair; soft snoring from the living room sang like melody in his ears.
Seeing Magnus's angelic face resting and peaceful made Alec relax a little and think how young he looked like-so carefree and vulnerable. His stance wasn't guarded nor was his expression, but it was blithe and relaxed. For a moment Alec thought there weren't any secrets between them, forgot about that silly argument they had, and that their breakup was just some impractical joke but as his mind wandered over to the dream, he suddenly felt cold all over.
What had the demon said?
Unless his attention is diverted elsewhere.
Alec shook his head, knowing it was just a stupid dream.
Besides, he refused to believe the fact that Magnus is cheating on him. Magnus was many things, but a cheater? That's not him.
Feeling as if a bucketful of ice has been shoved down his shirt, Alec got up and decided to make tea.
Tea always manages to soothe his nerves. Magnus knew this too because his cupboard was stacked with them. But then again that was back when they were dating; he was actually surprised that his former boyfriend hadn't thrown them out yet.
Reaching into a drawer and pulling out a teacup, his mind went over the past day's events.
The rejected phone calls and ignored texts to Magnus, catching his little sister and a vampire making out on a tree, that damn creature who almost ended his life, and finally, Magnus healing him back to normal and telling him that they should talk.
Alec gulped down the uneasy feeling in his throat.
That doesn't sound so good.
What else do they still have to talk about?
Just another way to add more salt to the wounded knee?
No thank you.
Or perhaps, a decent explanation on why they really broke up.
Don't you think it's a little unreasonable for him to dump you just like that? If Magnus truly loved you, he would have forgiven your silly little actions.
He shut his eyes, willing the voice to go away.
"Alec, are you alright?" a voice said, startling him. The teacup he was gripping tightly flew to the ground where it crashed into a million pieces.
In an instant Magnus sat upright on the couch, face etched in concern.
"What's wrong?" asked Magnus worriedly. "Did something happen?"
"N-nothing," Alec stammered. "I'm perfectly fine."
He bent down to pick up the fallen porcelain cup; the sharp edges cutting through his palm when a hand touched his lightly. Surprised, Alec looked up to see Magnus crouching beside him.
Under the faint luminescence shining from the window, Magnus's face was almost angelic. His expression was soft and sweet; lips slightly parted as he breathed, the cold atmosphere creating chilly frosts. The light touching his dark hair almost looked silver, sticking out in tufts of feathers. His luminous gold-green eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief.
"Let me take care of it." Magnus snapped his fingers and the pieces vanished in thin air. He took a sharp-edged glass from Alec's hand, the latter not realizing he had been gripping it so tightly blood ran down his arm.
"Alexander, what is it?" Magnus said quietly as Alec, flustered, clumsily fumbled for his stele. "Tell me."
And something inside Alec finally snapped.
"What about you tell me?" Alec shot back, and he couldn't help but feel like his grandma on the verge of menopause. "I know that what I did was wrong, but why did you breakup with me? I deserve an explanation aside from that goddamn immortality bullshit."
It's only rare times that Alec uses swear words but when he does, it takes a whole lot effect.
Magnus hung his head back. "So that's what this is all about."
"This is what everything is all about!" Alec said, voice rising. "If you would have given me a decent and reasonable explanation, we wouldn't be in this mess at all. I certainly wouldn't have dreamed of you seeing someone else!"
Uh oh.
Word vomit.
Magnus stared at him. "You dreamed that I was cheating on you? Alexander, I would never do such a thing."
"Then tell me why you broke up with me because I deserve the right to know! Or will you keep this from me too?" he added bitterly.
Magnus looked like as if he was slapped. "I'm afraid of losing you Alec! You're mortal, I'm immortal. You age, I don't. You'll die someday, I live forever. I don't want to lose you over and over again, waking up in bed just to remember you're already gone. I don't want to continue life without you, and I want to prepare myself when the time comes. Do you know how hard it is to accept the fact that someday you'll be gone? Someday, those blue eyes that I love would never open again; that sweet voice that sing like melody to my ears would never speak again; and that heart full of promises and innocence would never beat again. Do you know how hard it is, Alexander, to live a life without you in it? Because I do, and these past few weeks were a hell of a proof of that."
Alec closed his eyes, willing himself not to cry. "So you're punishing yourself because of my mortality, is that it?"
Magnus buried his face in his hands. It was the first time Alec had seen him so unnerved that a piece of his armor cracked. "I don't know, Alec," he admitted quietly. "I've never felt this before--this love so strong and passionate that it's scaring the living daylights out of me. You're the first to make me feel this way, Alexander, and I'm frightened of what it is doing to me."
Alec's eyes softened. "There's nothing to be afraid of, Magnus. I would gladly die anytime, if that meant spending the rest of my eternity with you."
With some hesitation, Magnus leaned forward and pressed his lips to Alec's.
It started out slow and soft, savoring the delicate moment like fragile porcelain, afraid to break it into pieces. Their lips moved in harmony like a blazing fire replacing a dull ember; sparks flying everywhere. Alec grabbed the front of Magnus's shirt, pulling him closer as he parted his lips, tongues moving in synchronization expertly. Driven by desire and passion, Magnus caught a fist of Alec's hair and kissed him roughly, all the weeks of holding back and restraint breaking into a thousand splinters. A hitching gasp escaped Alec's throat, and he ran his hands along Magnus's stomach; smooth, lean, and strong. Magnus pushed him back and they stumbled onto the floor, with Alec pinned underneath him. They locked gazes for a moment-heat, passion, love, and desire mixed into one-before Magnus placed his hot lips on the sensitive spot on Alec's neck, making him gasp.
"W-we need to stop," Alec said roughly.
"M-hmm," Magnus mumbled, his lips still lingering on Alec's neck.
Magnus caught his lips again, his hot breath fanning Alec's cheek. He gently nibbled on his lower lip, teeth clashing with his making Alec moan.
"M-Magnus," he said raggedly. "I'm serious. We need to stop."
Magnus made an aggravated noise and rolled over, his back lying flat on the floor.
"I'm sorry," he said a little breathlessly. His lips were red and swollen, and no doubt Alec's was too. "I got a little carried away."
"I-I should probably go," Alec said, scrambling to his feet which was almost impossible as his knees seemed to be made of jell-o.
Before Magnus could even reply, Alec grabbed his boots and bolted out the door.

Clary was sketching on her notepad when Jace entered the kitchen, about to grab a cup of coffee before training.
"Good morning, sunshine." Jace greeted, placing a light kiss on his girlfriend's forehead. "Why are you up so early?"
She slapped his arm playfully. "First of all, don't call me sunshine; you sound exactly like Magnus. Second, you very well know I'm an early riser."
"Ah, hitting two birds with one stone?"
Clary caught the undercurrent of desire in his words and tried to fight off a smile. It didn't work. "Don't you think it's a little bit too early for that?"
"Nothing's too early for anything," said Jace, leaning across the countertop to kiss his girlfriend when Isabelle barged into the room, looking furious.
"Where on earth is my brother?"
"He's in the infirmary, Izzy." Jace rolled his eyes. "Getting his rest."
"Oh?" Isabelle inquired sarcastically. "Tell me then what that stupid cat is doing in his empty bed?"
Clary suddenly seemed very interested in the coffee pot.
"Stupid cat?" inquired Jace. "You mean Church? I don't really think he would like that description of him."
Isabelle glared at his stepbrother. "Alec is nowhere to be seen and he isn't fully healed yet. Who knows what could have happened to him?"
Jace raised a hand, and placed it on his parabatai rune. "Chill, Izzy. He's alright. I could feel it." Seeing Isabelle's unsatisfied look, he sighed. "Have you checked the garden? He sure likes to go all sentimental and play 'Breakeven' on repeat, gazing dramatically out the window."
Looking even more furious, Isabelle opened her mouth to reply when there was a loud bang and a silhouette emerged in the doorway.
Alec looked ruffled and his shirt was wrinkled as if he had been sleeping in it, his blue eyes very much alive. His lips were swollen red and Jace would have thought he had gotten into a fight were it not for the huge red mark on his neck.
His eyebrows shot up to his hairline.
Isabelle had her mouth in a big O, and stared at her brother as if he was sprouting two heads.
Only Clary seemed unsurprised.
"I'm guessing it went good?" she inquired, eyeing the hickey on Alec's neck.
He instinctively covered it with his hand, cheeks flushing. "I-uh, well-" Looking embarrassed, he turned around and went out of the room, leaving Jace and Isabelle gaping at him.
"What just happened?" Izzy demanded.
"Well," Jace said, looking at Clary with a hint of mischief. "It looks like somebody had a great time."
