As soon as we walked into the palace, tears filled my eyes when I saw my parents waiting for me in the entrance hallway. I tore away from Dillon, who had his arm around my waist and sprinted to my parents. I jumped into their arms, wrapping mine around their necks. I didn’t realize how much I really did miss them until now. I was no longer mad at them for how they reacted to me being a werewolf because I would have acted that way too. All I wanted was my parents right now, because maybe they could protect me. My father was still king, so maybe his guards would lock Dillon away.

“Please, help me.” I whispered to my parents as I still hugged them tightly.

My mother gave me a sympathetic, but also confused look. Did she not know Dillon was bad? Dillon walked over and ripped me away from my sobbing mother and my shocked father. Once my father saw Dillon, he frowned. He never liked Dillon which used to anger me, but now I couldn’t be more thankful.

“We appreciate you finding out daughter, but you are still banned from this kingdom and palace.” My father said sternly.

Dillon let out an amused laugh, clearly not taking my father seriously. My father called for the guards but was shocked when they came and didn’t capture Dillon, but my mother and father. I watched in horror as my father yelled at the guards as they forcefully put him and my mother in handcuffs.

“I’m the new king of Cadellan. Your guards are now mine and are ordered to lock you both up in the dungeon.” Dillon spoke loudly to my father and his guards.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as my parents were taken from me. I tried to run to them, but Dillon held me back, pulling me into his rock hard chest. I struggled against him, but that did nothing. Once they were out of sight, Dillon released me, causing me to almost fall to the ground. I turned and faced Dillon, extremely upset of what he did.

“How’d you get his guards to be on your side?” I asked, wondering how my father’s guards would just betray him like that.

“Easy, they are all vampires. I had his old guards killed and replaced with vampires that obey me. Your father was too selfish of a king to notice that his original guards were replaced. It was too easy.” Dillon laughed.

“You’re a monster. I hate you.” I growled, feeling more powerful than before.

Could it be possible that my wolf was waking up? Maybe he didn’t give me as much wolfsbane as he thought he did. If I could escape, then I could go find Jace and we could come up with a plan to take down Dillon. I couldn’t stay here and get married. I just prayed that my wolf would be awake soon and I would be able to shift.

“Well you need to get over that because tomorrow night is when our wedding is scheduled.” He said, smirking.

It was about four o’clock in the afternoon right now, so that meant I had about twenty four hours before I was forced to marry Dillon. Without thinking, I took off running towards the front door, hoping that I could shift but when I tried, nothing happened. Dillon tackled me to the ground, making me cry out in pain from the impact. I struggled to get up, but he pinned me down.

“Guards! Come lock Isabella up with her parents until the wedding. I can’t have her escaping or causing trouble as the preparation are being arranged for tomorrow.” Dillon shouted, and three tall, muscular men came and helped Dillon and I up. They grabbed onto me, causing me to squirm and fight them. A pair of pure silver handcuffs were placed on my wrists, causing me to scream and fall to the ground.

“Put her in cell 3 since that’s the newest one with pure silver railings. I’m glad I had that installed. Also, she needs more of this, since she is getting stronger.” Dillon said, as he walked over to his bag and pulled out a syringe filled with wolfsbane.

“No, please don’t.” I begged, but he ignored me and inserted the liquid into me, instantly making me feel weak inside.

Dillon ignored me and walked away, leaving me with the guards. They started to pull me through the hallways that were so familiar to me as we made out way to the stairs to the dungeon. So much for my wolf waking up. I could already tell that I wasn’t stronger anymore and that fighting these vampires was pointless.

“We could have some fun with her, before we lock her up.” One guard said, sending chills up my spine.

“Nah, Dillon will be pissed if we do anything to her. He is marrying her tomorrow.” Another guard replied and I wanted to thank him for not letting the first vampire ‘have fun with me.’ Were all vampires this cruel and heartless? What did I ever do to deserve this?

We made it to the cellar doors and one guard walked in front of me and the other two walked behind me as we descended down the stairs. Everything was pitch black except the little light candles gave off that were hanging on the sides of the walls. Every step I took, the handcuffs would rub against my skin, causing an intense amount of pain. I hated silver so much now, it wasn’t even funny.

Once we were down at the bottom, there was a twenty degree temperature drop, which caused me to shiver; after all, I was still only wearing my white short, shorts and my teal tank top that were Alia’s. We walked down the line of cells until we came to the cell marked number three. The first guard unlocked the door and I was roughly pushed inside and the cell was locked once again. I touched the metal bars and let out a scream as pain filled my body. Dillon wasn’t lying about the silver bars keeping me locked in here.

The vampires snickered at my pain, but turned and left, heading back upstairs. I looked over and a wave of relief filled me when I saw my parents sitting down in the cell next to me. I rushed over to their side, making sure not to touch the bars. They joined me and I wanted to cry just by seeing them.

“I missed you guys so much.” I whispered.

“We’re so sorry, Iz. We were wrong to judge you for what you were. We should have helped you through it, instead of you running away all by yourself.” My mother sobbed, making me teary eyed.

“It’s alright, Mom. I learned a lot on my own. I fell in love, with an amazing guy. You would both love him.” I said, smiling at the thought of Jace.

“Really? What’s his name? I’m so happy for you.” My mom exclaimed.

“His name’s Jace and he loves me more than anything. I just want to see him again, but Dillon is making that hard.” I said, tears lingering in my eyes. I started to talk about Jace to her, feeling happy but sad at the thought of Jace. I loved him so much and wanted to marry him, not Dillon.

“Baby, everything will be alright. We’ll get through this.” My mother encouraged, even though I didn’t believe her for one second.

“He’s making me marry him tomorrow. He used to be my best friend, why does he want to hurt me like this?” I asked, tears now cascading down my reddened cheeks.

“I knew that boy was nothing but trouble.” My father muttered, the first time I heard him speak. Of course, he would give me the whole, ‘I told you so’ crap. This was just like him, like I know Dillon turned out to be a betraying monster, but I don’t need it being brought up in my face.

“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re right and I’m wrong. This may sound crazy, but he’s a vampire.” I said, expecting them to freak out but they didn’t. Why weren’t they freaking out or anything? They didn’t even seem shocked by my words. If only they acted this way when I shifted. I stared at them, waiting for a reaction of some type.

“We know, Isabella. Your mother and I did some research while you were gone.” My father said, softly. I didn’t speak, knowing my father wasn’t done talking.

“As we looked back into our family tree, it turns out, your grandfather, my dad, was a werewolf. I’m not a werewolf because my father was bite and changed into a werewolf, instead of being born as one. This caused the werewolf gene to skip a generation, me, and be passed on to you when you were born.” My dad explained, which shocked me. How could you not know your dad was a werewolf?

“Since he died before you were born, he wasn’t here to help you. I never knew he was a werewolf, and if I did, then maybe I could have helped you more. I’m so sorry, I regret trying to fix you, when there is no way of doing it.” He apologized.

“Well that explains a lot.” I said, still in shock.

I wished I could have met my grandpa, before he died. Maybe he could have explained being a werewolf to me and helped me through that awful first shift that I had. I felt different and not apart of my family because I wasn’t human like them. If my grandpa was alive, I could have been with him and wouldn’t have felt so different.

“Dillon put my wolf to sleep so I can’t shift and fight him. What am I going to do tomorrow? I can’t marry him.” I asked, terrified on how tomorrow would play out.

“Honey, as much as you don’t want too, I’m afraid there isn’t much to do but go along with it or pray someone stops the wedding. If you disobey, he’ll hurt you and I can’t stand to see you get hurt.” My mother said, shocking. How was I supposed to do nothing? Great advice, Mom.

“He’s going to force me to have sex with him! Don’t you care at all?” I shouted, not caring how loud I was being.

My anger kept building up, but maybe that’s because of how frightened I was. I always imagined that my first time would be with someone I truly loved, not by someone who was forcing me. A few tears ran down my cheeks as I cried.

“Now, I wouldn’t say I’m forcing you because you may hate it at first, but then you’ll love it and want more.” Dillon’s voice echoed through the dungeon, making me jump from where I was standing. I turned to see Dillon was standing in front of my cell, smirking at me.

“What do you want?” I snarled.

“I just came to say goodnight to my beautiful fiancée. You’ve been away from me for a few hours now.” He said.

Dang, had it already been hours of talking with my parents? I didn’t even get dinner. Sure, I had a late lunch on the airplane here, but I still could always eat more food because food was food, you didn’t need to be hungry to eat it. I wasn’t shocked that Dillon wouldn’t let me out of here, because he knew me too well. I would try and escape if I was let out of here. I guess, he isn’t as stupid as I thought he was.

“Whatever.” I mumbled, not making eye contact with him.

“I suggest you get rid of that attitude before tomorrow or you won’t have a pleasure evening, I’ll tell you that for sure. And my first act of king will be to murder your parents.” He threatened, causing my eyes to widen.

I couldn’t let him murder my parents because of an attitude problem. I nodded, saying I understood. He smiled in achievement and left the dungeon, leaving my parents and me alone. I walked over to the small cot in the corner of the cell and laid down, not wanting to talk anymore. Even though, it was only like eight o’clock, all I wanted to do was sleep and forget everything that was happening. Maybe if I was lucky, I would die in my sleep and never have to marry Dillon. I closed my eyes, forgetting the cruel fate that was going to happen tomorrow.
