(Kylo Ren's Point of View)
The door to my cell swings open and Rey walks in. I truly am glad to see her, so I smile.
“Rey” I say her name softly.
“Ben” She replies.
The only people who have ever called me by that name have betrayed me, rejected me, or left me. Luke betrayed me by seeing darkness in me that wasn't fully developed. When my parents left me with Luke they were doing more than leaving me with my uncle to train. They were leaving me out of their fear. Their fear of what I might become, just like luke. Lastly Chewbacca, he was always there, but once Han told him about the darkness in me he stopped talking to me. He stopped playing with me and showing me how to work the Falcon. He completely rejected me.
Rey has done all of the above, but I don't hate her like I hate the others. She’s different from them. She hasn't given up hope in me. That alone makes me want to leave the darkside.
I awake from my thoughts about the girl in front of me and watch her set her gun down.
“We have to hurry but we should be able to get out of here.” She says as convincing as possible.
“Your lightsaber?” I ask, curious about how we're getting out of here with one blaster.
“It's still broken. I have no idea how to fix it and hardly had the time, as you know.” She rushes her words and comes to me.
She reaches her hand out to the braces on my arms and legs. She closes her eyes tight and focuses on the force. I can't resist a smile, she's cute when she's concentrating. The latches make a noise and unhook themselves.
She opens her eyes and catches my smile before I get rid of it and asks “What?”
“Nothing” I try to say as nonchalantly as I can.
I look down and Unlatch the strap across my chest and practically jump out of my chair. As I move away from it I feel my powers through the force slowly return. It feels good, I felt like a part of me was missing in that chair. Now I'm whole again.
“How did no one see you?” I'm full of questions and that's the first one that comes out.
“Don't you remember? I'm sneaky.” This time we both smile.
“What's the plan?” I ask ready to get out of this cell.
“We'll I don't really have one except get back to the ship.” That does not sound very convincing.
“Let's try to do that then” I suggest and she grabs her gun.
She leads us out of the cell and into a long corridor of cells. I should've known they were keeping me in the prison ward, not that it mattered. We run to the end and look to our left and right for storm troopers. It's clear so we continue on. We round a corner and the elevator rings. Rey is in front of me so I grab her arm and yank her back around the corner. I know it must have hurt but it was necessary. We're right by a storage closet so I open the door and almost throw her inside. It's dark except a glowing bracelet Rey is wearing and I can just barely make out her face. I watch her tuck her gun in her belt.
“Ow-!” She yells at me after putting her gun away and rubs her arm.
I put my hand up to her mouth to cover it and shush her.
She goes to say something and puts her hands on mine to pull it away but stops short. Her hands glide off of mine so I let go. We both look towards the door and back up. Countless footsteps pass us. We wait in silence for a couple minutes and the footsteps grow quiet. I make my way to the door and slowly open it. I peer out into the hallway and I don't see anyone so I usher her out.
“Sorry” I apologize for her arm and we get back to the elevators.
We get in and she presses the appropriate button. Last time we were in an elevator together I was bringing her to Snoke to die. I knew she wouldn't have agreed with him and I knew he wouldn't have let her live. This time we're in an elevator and she's saving me. I guess that's how I know I don't belong with her, the resistance, or the lightside. We're too different.
The only noise in the elevator is the hum of electricity sending us downward and Rey whispers “We're not.”
“What?” I look at her and whisper back clearly confused.
She doesn't look at me but stares ahead until she replies.
“We're not different.” And then she looks up to me.
The look she is giving me is so overwhelming, a wave of emotions almost knocks me over. She really thinks we aren't different? We are similar in some ways which is probably what connects us. We both need someone, or something to help us, to show us a better way. We actually aren't that different. I take a step towards her and raise my hand to her face. I place my fingers on her cheek, bend down to her and whisper.
“No, we’re not”
She closes her eyes, raises her head to mine and we kiss.
I hope you guys liked this chapter! We're finally getting into the REYLO. I hope it's not too cheesy or anything. I'm trying to ease into their relationship, because they are SO stubborn. Also sorry again for the break. I forgot how much I love writing and now I'm back in the groove.
