I sat on the couch as I waited for Max. My hair was wavy and I had natural looking make up done. The dresses fitted me perfectly. I had a silver necklace on with silver hoop earrings and I wore large turquoise heels.
There was a knock on the door and I almost jumped. I grabbed my phone and I headed out the door.
"Hey beautiful." Max hugged me and held my hand as we went down the elevator, "I have a surprise."
He lead me to a black motorbike that had two black helmets that rested on the seats.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Are you serious?" I scowled.
"Yes."
"Max you know I hate these." He held my hand as I climbed on the back. I put on the helmet and hope it wouldn't ruin my hair. I put my arms around his waist as he sped down the roads. The wind was soft against my legs, it pulled my hair back. The ride wasn't as bad as I thought it was. At least Max was a safe driver.
I could hear the doff doff of the music as we pulled up in the street of Zannie's house and the motorbike engine died down. Max put his arm around me as we headed towards the house. The street had been turned into a carpark with all the cars. The front door had been left wide open so we walked straight through. There were people everywhere.
"Rubi!" Candy yelled from the top of the staircase. She brushed pass people as she made her way to us. She made it look easy and graceful weaving in and out of clumps of people.
"Hey, I brought Max, we're back together."
"Oh shit really? Um I have to go call someone." She ran outside to get away from the loud music and screaming people.
"Let's go out the back." Max held my hand as we squeezed through the dancing bodies. There were fairy lights that hung everywhere outside.
"I'm going to help the boys with the BBQ, NATE!" Max waved towards the boys who stood around the BBQ and he kissed me on the cheek as he left.
I went over to the drink table and poured in a glass of punch.
"Hey," Niall's voice came from behind me which made me jump, almost spilling my drink.
"Niall, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Candice invited me." He replied.
"You won't leave me alone will you?"
"I've been thinking of what to say to you, and even practicing." He smiled nervously.
"I'm not that scary to talk to Niall just say it."
"Well I wanted you to know that when I was with you I felt peaceful and safe, because I knew no matter what happened, nothing bad would happen, because I had you."
"Niall.." He stroked my hair, "Niall, I'm back with Max."
His hand dropped, "Max? The guy from the beach from the morning the other day?"
"Yes."
"Why him? Looked like he was going to hit you."
"Look Niall, Max is there for me, no matter how much you'll try to be, you can't be."
"I'm sorry I can't be here for you, I'm sorry I can't be there when you cry, or when you laugh, but I want to be there. I want to be with you. I haven't felt this way about someone before. You don't know how good it feels to tell someone things, facts or quicky stuff about yourself without them knowing a thing. Your not like the fans who know everything about me."
I felt an arm slip around my waist and I turned to face Max.
"Hey I'm Max," he held out his hand for Niall to shake. Max didn't remember him.
"See you round Rubi," I watched Niall disappear into the jumping crowd.
"Who was that?" Max asked.
"Just someone."
"Wanna dance?" he held my hand and turned me around.
"Actually I'm going to go find Candy." I went back inside the house and scanned the crowd for Candy's face.
"Rubi!" Susie jumped on my back.
"Happy birthday Zannie!"
"Where's Niall?" She asked.
"You knew?"
"It was meant to be a surprise, so surprise!" She giggled.
"I came with Max, we got back together."
"Oops," she widened her eyes and pouted her lips.
"Where's Candice?" I asked.
"Upstairs."
I put my hands out and pushed passed the couples making out on the stairs. Candy was playing XBOX with some boys.
"Yes! Suck it Dave, see girls can win." She stood up and did a little dance.
"Candice-Lee." I used that name when she was in trouble. She ducked behind the couch.
"Rubi, I tried to call him and tell him not to come, but his phone must of been switched off."
"Why would you invite him?" I crouched down next to her.
"I knew how much fun you had with him and Louis said he couldn't stop talking about you."
"Louis?"
"We spoke after the ride and we exchanged numbers. Don't give me that look, you didn't tell me about Max."
"Max isn't Niall's friend."
"I'm sorry." Candy looked down and fiddled with the hem of her dress.
"It's okay," I hugged her, "I'm going to go find Max."
I made my way back outside. I couldn't see Max anywhere, not at the BBQ, not at the dance floor. I ventured back inside. There were too many people for me to cope with so I went out the front for air. There was a group of guys huddle, maybe Max was there. The closer I got the more I saw smoke raise from the middle of the group and something had started to smell.
I couldn't see any faces so I had to push through. I got through but when I tried to stand on the edge of the circle, I was pushed through into the middle. They were doing drugs. I turned to see everyone had looked up to stare at me. Max held a burning lighter when he saw me.
"Rubaaaay," he laughed, "Come join us!"
"No Max, stop it." I grabbed the cigarette from his hand and threw it to the ground. All the boys in the circle laughed, everyone but Max.
"Have some fun," one boy said and he held out a cigarette, but I gave him a dirty.
"Max seriously I thought you changed."
"I did, I smoke now, what of it?" Everybody laughed again.
"Fine, I'm going and I'm not taking your baby-ass home when you too drugged to walk," I tried to get out of the circle but none of the boys would let me.
"Stop it," I tried to use a stern voice, but the boys were too high to notice.
"Knock it off." Max glowered and the group created a path for me to get out of the circle and Max followed.
"I'd give you a lift home." He tried to lead me to his bike but I stopped walking.
"Your too high and I don't want to be around you Max. Not now. Not ever."
"Come on don't be like that babe," he out his arms around my waist but I pushed him off.
"I said no."
I grabbed my stuff and started to walk home. 'GTG, have a fab night! xo'. I texted Susie. I tried to empty my mind and not think of anything but there were so many thoughts that raced through my mind. It was going to be a long walk, especially at the rate I was walking and the shoes I wore. I took them off and carried them in my hands.
"It's okay Rubi, shhh, calm down, everything is okay.." I spoke allowed trying to calm myself down. A pink hummer hooted as they passed me when I started to cry. I heard a door slam and foot steps run towered me. I quickly tried to blink the tears away, but my eyes were too wet.
"Hey Rubi, it's Louis, Niall's friend. What are you doing here, shouldn't you be at the party?" Niall asked in a British accent.
"I'm walking home," I replied.
"A bit early isn't it?" Another guy had climbed out of the flashing hummer, "Harry Styles is the name."
"We'd take you back to the party," Louis nodded towards the pink hummer.
"Look Niall probably hates me now." I regretted what I said to him, even if I wasn't with Max he didn't deserve for me to rude to him.
"No he doesn't, he texted us asking what to do considering plan A hadn't worked." Harry said.
"We're plan B, are we working?" Louis nudged me, which made me laugh.
"Yeah, I guess." I wiped the tears away and got into the hummer with them. The seats were pink and the walls were full of pink fur.
"Nice choice in transportation." I said as climbed in.
"We travel in style." Harry said.
"I see what you did there, Harry Styles! Sista five!" Louis and Harry high fived each other with swag. "Well Rubi, that's Zayne, that's Liam, and this is Paul."
"Aha, Rubi it's a pleasure to finally meet you, you ran away from me last time." Paul said and I blushed with embarrassment.
"How did you guys recognize me?" I asked.
"We've been Facebook stalking you, instagram stalking you, tumblr stalking you." Liam said and we all laughed.
"Shouldn't it be the other way round? I should be stalking One Direction, not the other way round." I winked at Liam and he nodded in approval.
"Oh looky! We're here! I've never been to an Australian party," Louis jumped in his seat.
"Let's go find Niall!" Zayne shouted and all of the boys roared with him.
