I just wanted to give a bit of insight into this before I get started; this chapter is set out as a documentary kinda, anythingin italics will be Demi talking to the interviewer like she done in Simply Complicated and anything in bold italics will be Lauren talking; I hope that makes sense. There also will be a bit of a time jump in between each section.
‘This is a big thing for me, for both of us really. We’ve both been so private throughout our relationship and our privacyis something that we cherish when it comes to our children but I wanted to give a little something back to our fans, to the people who have supported us since day one. I wanted to give people an honest look into family life because it isn’t as easy as people make out.’
‘Look at that tiny bump.’ Lauren says grinning as she makes her way over to Demi and instantly places her hands flat against her stomach.
‘Mmm… He finally decided to make an appearance.’ Demi replies smiling as she rests her hand over Lauren’s.
‘It’s so bizarre; I think because last time you were showing so early because there were two in there that I just expected you to show around the same time.’ Lauren says and Demi nods her head.
‘I’m still so nervous that something is going to go wrong.’ Demi admits biting her bottom lip.
‘We’re over halfway there, Dems. We’ve made it past the first trimester and that’s the hardest part.’ Lauren says.
‘I know I just- I thought I would’ve felt him move by now, you know? Everyone says that with your second you feel it earlierand I felt the girls move around nineteen weeks; I’m twenty-two weeks now and I haven’t felt a thing.’ Demi replies.
‘Do you want me to phone Addison? See what she says?’ Lauren asks and Demi nods her head.
‘I won’t be a minute.’ Lauren says kissing the top of Demi’s head before leaving the room to get her phone. Sighing, Demi sitsdown on the edge of the bed and glances down at her stomach.
‘You need to move for me, baby boy. Momma’s a bit of a worrier and not being able to feel you move is killing me. I just need a bit of reassurance that you’re okay, buddy.’ Demi whispers as if on cue she feels the slightest little flutter causing her to gasp.
‘Thank you.’ She says quietly as Lauren makes her way back into the room carrying her phone.
‘I felt him…’ Demi says causing Lauren to look up from where she’s dialling the doctor’s number.
‘What?’ Lauren asks and Demi nods her head.
‘I was just sitting down talking to him and I felt him.’ Demi replies smiling.
‘Do you think maybe he has been moving but you’ve just been so busy that you haven’t noticed? This time is different from last time because you’ve got two toddlers to run around after as well and we’ve moved house.’ Lauren says sitting down beside Demi.
‘Maybe… I think I’ll worry until he gets placed in my arms.’ Demi admits and Lauren nods her head.
‘I think you will but that’s okay.’ Lauren says as Demi rests her head on her shoulder.
‘If you had said to me ten years ago that this would be my life now I would’ve laughed in your face. I don’t think I ever really realised that I wanted kids until I met this one. Demi completely turned my world upside down and I knew very quickly that she was something special that I didn’t want to lose her. Now we’re approaching three years of marriage and we’re only weeks away from welcoming our third child; life is pretty much perfect.’
‘We really need to settle on this little guy’s name.’ Demi says running her hand across her bump as she feels little kicks against her skin.
‘I know. What’s still on the list?’ Lauren asks glancing over at Demi before going back to changing Evie’s diaper.
‘Maverick, Otto, Jax, Teddy and Wren.’ Demi reads from the list on her phone.
‘I still really like Maverick, Wren and Otto.’ Lauren says and Demi nods her head.
‘Those are my favourites. What if we narrow it down to those three and then just decide once he’s born?’ Demi suggests smiling as Lauren lifts Evie above her head causing the little girl to giggle.
‘Sounds like a plan to me. Go see momma, Evie.’ Lauren says smiling as she places the little girl down on the floor beforepicking Pippa up.
‘I think I’m done carrying babies after this one.’ Demi admits lifting Evie onto her knee and smiling as the little girl instantlysnuggles into her.
‘Yeah? Do you think you’re done having kids all together?’ Lauren asks glancing over her shoulder.
‘No; I’d be happy for you to carry them or if we were to adopt or have a surrogate. I just really don’t want to physically be pregnant again myself.’ Demi replies.
‘Okay, we can do that.’ Lauren says smiling.
‘Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed being pregnant with the girls and this time hasn’t been too terrible but it’s different whenyou’ve been through a miscarriage, you know? The slightest little thing makes me panic and I just don’t want to go through it again.’ Demi replies.
‘I understand that, of course I understand.’ Lauren says. Lifting Pippa into her arms, she keeps the little girl balanced on her hip and makes her way over to the rocking chair where Demi is gently rocking Evie.
‘I love you.’ Lauren says as she kisses the top of Demi’s head.
‘I love you too.’ Demi replies smiling.
‘We didn’t film much during the last few weeks of my pregnancy because I was just exhausted and the thought of having cameras following my every move just didn’t sound appealing to me at all. I really just wanted to spend time with my little family during the last few weeks; Lauren and I both spent a lot of time at home with the girls just loving them and cherishing them before they weren’t the littlest ones anymore.’
‘This is baby Maverick River. He’s three days old and has fitted into our family perfectly. We’ve been home for two days now and the girls are besotted with him, we all are.’ Demi says softly as she adjusts the tiny baby boy in her arms so the camera can get a proper look at him.
'He's beautiful, congratulations!' Jesse, the camera man, says as he smiles down at the baby boy.
'Thank you.' Demi replies running her finger down Maverick's cheek.
'Where's Lauren and the girls?' Joanne, part of the production team, asks as she watches Demi adjust the blankets around the baby.
'Lauren's taken them out for ice cream and a trip to the park; we wanted to treat them but I'm just too sore. My milk came in this morning and its been agony.' Demi admits.
'They should be home soon.' She adds.
'Have your family and Lauren's family met Maverick yet?' Joanna asks.
'Yeah; they met him in the hospital on the day he was born. My mom brought the girls to meet him so she was one of the first.' Demi replies as she hears the front door open and three sets of feet make their way into the house.
'Momma! Where's baby?' Pippa asks rushing over to Demi.
'He's right here... You need to be careful remember.' Demi says softly as she helps Pippa onto the sofa beside her. She can't help but smile as she watches the little girl lean forward and kiss Maverick's head.
'Is this it? Do you think your family is complete now?' Joanne asks as she watches Lauren sit down on the sofa with Evie on her knee.
'I don't know; I think we're just going to see how things go.' Lauren replies smiling as she glances down at Maverick.
'I think if Lauren wants to experience pregnancy then we'll definitely have another but I think for now we're going to just focus on these three little monkeys.' Demi says smiling.
'Watching Demi birth is honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced. With the girls, it was a tough birth. Demi was in labour for over twenty-four hours and watching her in pain for that long was hard but it was completely different with Maverick. Demi was just so calm the entire time, Maverick was born two hours and forty-seven minutes after the labour began... Do I want to experience pregnancy? I think part of me does but I know I'd be quite happy if we were only to have the three because they're pretty perfect. Demi is absolutely amazing; I mean just one week after giving birth she was decorating our garden for Evie and Pippa's second birthday. She's like wonderwoman.'
'This is amazing, Demi!' Nick says smiling as he glances around the garden whilst Demi cradled Maverick in her arms.
'Mmm... Took us forever to get it perfect. I wanted them to have a special day, you know? I don't want them to feel left out because this little one has come along.' Demi replies running her finger down the little boy's cheek.
'He's pretty perfect.' Nick says and Demi nods her head.
'That he is.' Demi replies smiling.
'Who else is coming?' Nick asks.
'They've got some little friends from a group we used to go to and then my family, Lauren's family. Phil, Kelsey, Jill and Wilmer.' Demi replies causing Nick to smile.
'Perfect party for two perfect little princesses.' He says.
'Hey, babes... You good?' Lauren asks as she makes her way over and wraps her arms around Demi's waist.
'Mmm... Our little girls are two, can you believe that?' Demi says softly.
'I know. They're turning into such amazing little girls thanks to you.' Lauren replies.
'And you.' Demi almost whispers.
'I love you.' Lauren says.
'I love you too.' Demi replies smiling.
'When we were first approached about doing this documentary I was extremely hesitant about letting cameras follow us around and opening our little family to the world but honestly, I don't regret doing this at all. I think in years to come it'll be amazing to look back on and see Maverick whilst he's so little and to watch the girls become big sisters and all the changing they've gone through lately. I think this gives our fans a look into our lives that we never would've been able to give them on our own and I know we're extremely lucky to have been given this amazing opportunity. We are both so grateful for this opportunity and I hope people will enjoy getting a look into our lives because this is Simply Us.'
