'Are you alright?' was the first thing I asked when we stopped running. We were in a park, under the shimmering moonlight, away from the school.
You didn't answer and just looked down at your feet with teary eyes.
"What's your name?" I asked softly, trying not to frighten you.
"...Y/N. Kim Y/N." was your answer. Your body was still trembling.
Then I hugged you. I wrapped my arms around your thin body, gently pressing your head down on my chest, resting my chin on top of yours.
I could feel your eyes widening.
"It's okay now." I whispered softly. "You are safe."
Then you started crying again.
And I stood there silently, letting you cry all your sorrows out.
You were so fragile and weak.
I was scared that you would break if a strong wind passed by.
I was scared that you would shatter away into pieces if I let go of you.
I wanted to protect you.
