"hey colby?" jake's voice seeped through the locked door.
"yeah?"
"sam's here. he needs to talk to you."
"why would sam need to talk to me?"
"he's your best friend, dude. just come out and see him for at least a little while."
why do i have to?
"fine." i groaned, trying my best to drag my lead-like legs off of the bed and across the floor and out into the apartment.
a messy-haired and tired-eyed sam stared back at me.
"you look like hell."
"thanks, colby," he chuckled, "listen, dude, steph is a mess. she needs to see you."
"no."
"why? why are you so upset over this?"
"really, sam? really? you're fucking kidding me."
"no, colby, i'm not. what's your problem?"
"sam,"
"what? what's so absolutely terrible about steph kissing brennen?"
"i can't do this right now-"
loud voices.
"no, colby, you're gonna tell me what's going on-"
anger.
"sam, i-"
red. i see red.
"COLBY-"
tears. hot tears.
"I'M IN LOVE WITH HER! OKAY? FUCKING HELL, SAM, I'M IN LOVE WITH HER! IS THAT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? ARE YOU SATISFIED? I'M SO FUCKING GLAD I COULD HELP!"
the bedroom door slamming was the last sam and jake had heard of the conversation, and now all i could hear was the horrid silence of the room and the sobs escaping my shaking and hyperventilating body.
i think jake had gotten a noice complaint from his neighbors.
