For weeks Austin had tried his best to get Ava to walk. Now that she was nearly 11 months, and Dez's wedding is right around the corner, he wanted to make sure thier little flower girl would be walking.
"Come one Avie.. come walk to daddy!" He said reaching out his hands
Ava who was on her feet also reached out her hands with Dez sitting behind her
" hey come on walk.."Austin said
" Ava walk to Daddy so we can play house mini golf!" Dez said
" hmmm I wonder how I can get her to walk" he said " Ally doesn't think I can."
" that's so Ally of her" Dez said
" yea.. she underestimates me" Austin responded " and calls me immature and that I'm pushy for wanting Ava to walk.. and that she has to walk on her own time"
" sounds like you two had a bit of an disagreement?" Dez said
" yea.. but knowing Ally, after the dress sizing and what not, she'll come home happy to see Ava and she'll forget all about our fight" Austin said
Ava sat down and bear crawls over to her Daddy
" you love messing with me don't you" He said as she climbed up to his lap
He kissed her chubby little cheeks
" so you ready to get married next month?"Austin asked
" yes.." Dez said
Austin made a weird face " you sound unsure, and by that tone.. did you and Carrie have a disagreement too?"
" it's all the baby talk. Ever since you knocked up Ally.. Carrie is all baby talk. All day every day. We aren't even married yet and she already talking baby names!" Dez expressed
" it's my fault?" Austin asked
" not just yours! Ally's for constantly talking about pregnancy and updating all things Ava 24/7, Ava for being so cute and For making Carrie upset and distance anytime Ava leaves our house" Dez said " so it's all three of your faults!"
Austin looks at him weirdly " okay I get how it's Ally's fault, but why me and Ava?"
" because she's damn cute.. and you just can't keep it in your pants and now she wants me to. It keep it in my pants" Dez said
" ahaha that's ridiculous.. besides don't you want Kids?" Austin asked
" of course I do.. but maybe later.. my thing is we aren't even married yet!" Dez said
" tough.. but come on, just look at this little baby and tell me you don't want one" Austin said lifting up Ava
She giggled and kicked her feet happily
" awww" Dez said " I mean I'm immune" he cleared his throat
" not to this.." Austin said " Ava blow uncle Dez a kiss"
" mwah" Ava said after blowing a kiss
Dez whimpers " uggggh"
" almost there Avie bear" Austin said he scooched over to Dez and put Ava close to his face " now give him a kiss"
" no.. stop.. anything but that" Dez whined
" kiss kiss" Austin said in a baby voice
Ava proceeds to give Dez wet kisses
" aaaaahhh okay! She got me!" Dez said taking Ava
" well.. well.." Austin said
" she's so cute.." Dez pretends to fake cry as he hugged Ava

Hours later
Austin sat on his game chair playing video games while the dog sat on his lap
Ally had returned from dress fitting with Carrie.
She sat on the opposite couch
" hey honey" he said not even looking at her " you're back"
" yea.. I'm back" she said leaning back " you sound so thrilled"
He looked at her " I am"
" anyways where's Ava" she asked
" she's asleep.. from all the walking practice" he bragged
" did she actually walk?" She asked
" no.." he said
" good! Because if she walks for the first time and I did not witness it, I'll never forgive you" she warned as she got up " she wants to walk on her own time, let her walk on her own time"
She walked towards him and picked up the small dog
" look at my other girl" she said sitting down snuggling the dog
" great I get no love." He said reverting his attention back to his game
" a man who upsets his wife earlier isn't worthy of her love at the moment" she said
" seriously Ally?" He asked annoyed
" yea" she said
He took a deep breath " okay.. then"
" you didn't even apologize." She said
" for what? Trying to get our kid to walk?" He asked
" not just that.. everything else.." she said
" let it go" he said
" why should I?" She asked
" because now I'm getting annoyed with you" He said " so if you don't want to fight again let's just drop it.. before we both say something we might regret"
" fine."She said rubbing marshmallow
" what did you girls do at the store" he asked looking at her
She looked at him and got up and left the room
" it's what I get for trying to prevent a fight" he said

She went into Ava's room to check on her
" hi my love.." she said " did you have the most amazing nap ever? I missed you baby"
Ava got so excited and stood up in her crib
" let me take out that Binkie so I can see that beautiful smile of yours my angel" she said
Ava gave her the cutest little smile ever
" Daddy did your hair so cute.. aw" she said " you wanna come out?"
She pulls Ava out of the crib " let's change your diaper and get you some food!"

" here you go your favorite spaghetti!!" Ally said excitedly
Ava began stuffing her face
" we'll work on table manners later" she said
The puppy waited by the high chair in hopes Ava drops her food
Austin walks in " hey baby girl" he kisses Ava's cheeks " you taste delicious.. eat up you're gonna need your energy!"
" you're not gonna get her to walk again?" Ally said annoyed
" yes I am.. I believe in my girl, I think she's ready.. and if you believe in her too.. you'd do the same" he said
" of course I believe in her! But I don't like seeing her get frustrated and all sad.."
" if you coddle her she won't learn" he said
" coddle her?" She asked crossing her arms
" yes.." he said " you coddle her! She can't fall with out you scooping her up every minute.. that's how you spoil children"
" sorry if my love spoils my children.." she said annoyed
" I didn't say you shouldn't love our children... just you helicopter.. you're a helicopter" he said
" you're calling me fat!" She asked
" NO!! You just hover.. you're too overprotective!" He said
" God.. Austin! You're just really in a mood today aren't ya?" She said
" so are you" He said
She reverts her attention to Ava who was messy with sauce
" okay girly let's get this stuff off you" she said pulling Ava's outfit off
She placed Ava on the ground " there you go free to venture because apparently I helicopter!"
" yay! Come here" he said sitting on the ground completely disregarding her Petty comment
He stood her up on her feet " come on walk to me!! You can do it!! I believe in you!!"
Ava reached out her hands and squealed
" just one step!!" He said
Ally cleaned off the mess Ava made by her high chair, but couldn't help the cuteness from their enthusiasm
She came over
And sat down on the ground opposite Austin
" well well look who it is" he said " I knew you'd cave eventually"
She rolled her eyes
" look it's mommy go prove her wrong !" He said turning Ava around
Ally held out her arms " let's entertain Daddy come here sweetie"
Ava attempted to move her little feet but fell into ally's arms gently " daddy's turn" she said glaring at Austin.
This time Ava took two steps to Austin
But they were to worked up to even notice
" okay it's mommy's turn" he said
She took wobbly 4 steps this time and plopped Into her arms " tell your daddy you're not ready!"
Ava took her four steps into Austin's arms
And then it clicked
"WAIT!" He said looking at Ally
" OH MY GOD!" She said returning the look
" SHE JUST" he said
"THIS WHOLE TIME" she finished
" WE DID'NT"
"EVEN NOTICE!"
" go farther" he said
Ally moved a bit more farther from where she sat
He stood behind Ava to make sure she wouldn't fall
" come here!!" Ally said
Ava took 4 more steps than the last 8 In all with Austin slowly following behind her
" she's walking.." she said looking at Ava in her arms " she's walking!!"
" I FREAKING TOLD YOU!" He bragged " not ready my ass!"
Ally smiled " oh my god.. she's so grown up"
He smiled at her " she's walking.."
" you're walking kid" he picked her up and kissed her " I'm so proud of you"
" me too.."ally added
" let's not stop now" he said
She was very wobbly but slowly took steps each time to her parents
" I cannot believe this!" Ally said
" that I was right?" He said
" no.. that my baby is growing up soon she'll be going out on her own and everything" she said
" woah woah!! She just learned to walk one thing at a time!" He said
...
after they had Ava walk a few more times, she got so tired she knocked out just in time for bed.
And despite the tension was lifted for a temporary glorious moment. It filled again once their baby was in bed
They sat in bed watching tv silently
Until he decided to break the awkward silence
" so are we seriously still gonna be mad at each other?" He asked
She looked at him and sighed " I don't know"
" you do know." He said " look we obviously parent differently, who cares. She's happy, healthy amazing.. I think we're doing a good job that's when we are working together"
" yea" she said " it's always been that way"
" us working together rather than separately and arguing about it" he said
" yea.. and despite everything you were right. And I guess all she needed was the two of us to get her to walk" she said
" yes. Exactly. She doesn't like when mommy and Daddy are fighting" he said " and I don't like it ether"
She looked at him reached over and gave him a kiss " I'm sorry"
" I'm sorry too.. for being " Ass-tin" today" he said
She giggled "and I'm sorry for my " Ally-tude" today too"
" HA! you admit" he said
" oh be quiet" she said hugging him then cuddling into his arms
" No this I should have recorded as well. Two things today made history! Ava walking, and you admitting you have an Ally-tude" he bragged
" that's great and all, but rub my back or play with my hair.. or something I need your Love" He asked
" now you want my love" He said softly
" I always want your love.." she said softly
He kissed her forehead and shut off the lights
" hey I said rub my back! not my butt" she said
" it's dark.. hehe I can tell" he said " should I stop?"
" nooo I like it" she said
