Candor Or Dauntless

"Do you think we should wake her?" A familiar voice asked, putting an end to my dreamless slumber.

"I think you should." A male answered, unaware that I had already been awoken.

"Why me?" The female voice questioned him as I continued to lay silently with my eyes shut, too drowsy to open them.

"Because I don't even know her." He stated, trying to keep his voice as low as possible.

I fluttered my eyes open before sitting up slightly, making them jump back slightly from shock that I was no longer asleep.

"You're awake!" The girl who I recognized as Savannah exclaimed, a mixture of surprise and joy in her tone of voice and facial expression. "Now you can play Candor or Dauntless with us!"

"I said I'm not playing, remember?" I reminded her, rubbing my eyes slightly. "What time is it?"

"Seven o'clock." She beamed at me, looking down at the white, electric clock placed on the white, wooden bed-side table. "Everyone's already started playing so we can just slip right in."

"Fine." I sighed, hauling myself out of bed. "But I'm definitely not stripping."

"You won't have to if you complete the dares and answer the questions truthfully." The boy stated as we stalked out of the room, into the corridor. He had dark bruenette hair which covered the upper part of his dark green eyes and slightly tanned skin.

I trailed behind them as they paced down the corridors towards where the game was being held. We continued walking until we stopped outside an unfamiliar room. The male, who I had now learned to be Fernando, knocked the white wooden door before Cara allowed us access. She glared at me as she held the door open, allowing us to step inside.

"I thought you weren't playing." She growled, glaring at me.

"I wasn't until now." I admitted, taking a seat on a baby-blue swirly chair.

I analyzed the room, trying to make mental notes of my surroundings until Cara decided to start the game. I noticed Caleb staring at me from in the corner but as soon as I acknowledged him with a smile, he instantly began to stare at the ground, just like always. I let out a sigh before turning my focus to Cara, who was staring directly at me.

"Caitlyn, Candor or Dauntless." She questioned me, sitting cross legged on the wooden floor, leaning against a metal bed-frame. Her voice was sickeningly sweet which made me feel slightly queasy for what was yet to come. Then again it can't be that bad, can it?

"Candor." I replied, convincing myself it was the safest option.

She sat there for a brief moment, biting her bottom lip as a small smirk began to form on her lips. I tried not to show panic as I sat watching her menacing smirk begin to increase by the second.

"What's your biggest fear?" She questioned me as everyone turned to face me.

I bit my bottom lip for a few moments whilst I considered whether or not to reply. My biggest fear is Callum when he's angry or drunk but I don't think I tell her that, it could arouse suspicion about my life before I officially transferred. Plus, she knew Callum so I don't want her to know what kind of things he did.

"You don't have to answer that." Caleb piped up from near the corner of the room, causing everyone to turn their attention towards him. I glanced at him, feeling a mixture of relief, joy and slight confusion, due to the fact he'd managed to deflect attention away from me so I had time to think, as well as sticking up for me. However, it made me question why he did it. I mean, why would he try and defend me, after ignoring me for the past four years? Maybe I'm over-thinking this too much.

"Yeah she does." Cara stated, slightly annoyed by Caleb. "It's either that or take her clothes off."

"Callum." I muttered, lowering my voice to a whisper in the hope she wouldn't hear me.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" Cara questioned, a small smirk playing on her lips that told me she'd heard but wanted me to repeat it.

"Callum." I admitted, making my voice slightly louder which caused her smirk to grow bigger.

"Why's that?" She queried, trying to act innocent whilst a smirk was still playing on her lips as she waited for me to answer.

I sat silently staring down at my hands which were entwined in my lap, desperately wanting to get out of the situation. Cara already knew why I was terrified of him, yet she was letting on like she was completely oblivious to the meaning behind my fear.

"Who's Callum?" Savannah queried, confusion in her tone of voice.

"Ask Caitlyn, she'll tell you all about him." Cara instructed her, the same smug look on her face.

"He's my brother." I informed her as I felt piercing gazes upon me from all around the room. "Now can we move on please?"

"Fine." Cara smirked, "Your turn to ask somebody."

"Cara, candor or dauntless." I questioned her, a stupid grin on her face which filled me with annoyance.

"Dare, I'm not some pansy-cake." She smirked.

I thought for a moment about all the endless possibilities of what I could make her do. On one hand I could make her make-out with someone but she'd love that considering how much of a slut she is. Pleasure is the last thing I want her to get out of this right now. However, I'm sure she'd find a way to make anything a complete joke, which is one of the many things which irritates me about her.

"I dare you to face your worst fear." I challenged her, deciding to let a worse form of karma take it's course.

"I'm facing my fear right now." She admitted, causing me to furrow my eye-brows.

"What do you mean?" Savannah asked, equally as confused as I was.

"I'm being forced to look at Caitlyn's face all day." She stated, purposefully trying to anger me. "It's that hideous, it's fucking scary."

"Yeah well, you're not any better yourself. I've excreted things that were better looking than you." I retorted, causing her to scoff as we exchanged glares. "They smelled better as well."

A few 'oohs' erupted from Fernando and Savannah, causing me to grin slightly at the self-confidence that had allowed me to stand up to her.

Eventually the game ended, after what seemed like a lifetime. Caleb had to leave early, in order to run an errand for Jeanine, so the four of us were left to play alone. Fernando suggested that him and Cara completed seven minutes of Heaven, which I thought to be utter nonsense considering you'd have to be either extremely desperate or dumb to want to have sexual intercourse with her. However, it meant I'd get seven minutes without listening to her stupid remarks or constant moaning so I didn't object. I felt sympathetic for Fernando though, being stuck alone with her. Savannah and I decided to complete a little dare of our own whilst she was gone, which involved Cara's leather purse and some stale milk. Let's just say she got a shock when she went to retrieve her, now permanently damaged, fashionable accessory. She became so angry that she ended up storming out, closely followed by Fernando who was annoyed with us for doing something "totally uncalled for."

After that little incident, Savannah and I had managed to become closer. I'd acquired knowledge on her life in Amity before she'd transferred to Erudite, she has an older sister named Paige who took care of her whilst she helped maintain their mother's crop farm once she'd become to ill to look after it herself. Her cousin Al, who's the same age as us, transferred to Dauntless after living in Candor for the past sixteen years.

Savannah had allowed me to sleep in her room for the night, which I gladly accepted, it was either that or be stuck with Cara. Luckily for her, she wasn't forced to share a room which made me feel quite envious considering I was stuck with the bitchiest, most stuck-up girls in the whole of Erudite. Surprisingly we didn't talk much, mainly because we were both quite tired despite me having a nap earlier on. I know what you're thinking; "eww, did you guys sleep in the same bed?" Well no, we didn't, we're not homosexuals. Anyway, I rolled open her light-blue sleeping bag before laying it on the floor and wriggling inside of it. Then, she threw me a long, rectangular pillow that I managed to catch. I kept making adjustments until everything was positioned correctly before snuggling up and drifting into a silent slumber, which was slightly painful due to the hard flooring beneath me.
