Selah sat on the rocking chair in front of her mother's duplex, facing the street. The lawn was mowed and the gardeners had watered the flowers, the maids had swept the compounds and everywhere was clean that Saturday morning. Facing the golden morning sun, she scrambled through memories she swore she had buried.

Tears trickled down her cheeks as she wiped them off with the back of her palm. She thought of her first relationship with Chris; her first love - oh! She had done everything humanely possible to save their relationship and keep it afloat; time and again she lied for him, justified his excuses and still he had taken her for granted. She wrapped her arms around herself and remembered the times she wished he would hold her, surprise her by taking her out

'Selah please can you recharge my phone for me? Please pretty, please!'

The dude always asked and had a sweet tongue when he was asking and poor Selah would give because she had hope that giving would restore their two years futile relationship.
How wrong she was. The worst part was that he won't use the airtime to call her, just once in a forever chance of a text message. Her thoughts drifted to when he wanted to visit her in college and asked her for cash.

Selah laughed out loud at the memory and her desperate stupidity; her craving for someone to love her and also to feel among those who had blissful relationships. She had sent eight thousand naira to her boyfriend and unfortunately the money never got to him, due to the wrong account number he had sent her. To crown it all, he had gotten angry with her. Selah got so mad;

For my money kwa she asked like she was talking to someone

It had been two years into their relationship then and things had gone crazy; the incident was still new in her mind like it had happened recently.

Well, it's in the past she said to herself but why was it so fresh everytime she saw his photographs on Facebook. Worst part, she would send him a friend request and then block him and repeat the same process over again.
