❝ don't get distracted ❞
Alexa POV
An abandoned subway station, I was watching Isaac and Erica train with Derek. Aaron and Boyd were watching from the stairs, while I leaned against one of the support beams with my arms crossed. Isaac has done the same move at least ten times now and I could tell that Derek was getting frustrated. After Isaac hit the floor, Erica jumped on Derek's back and Derek threw her to the ground.
"Does anyone wanna try not being completely predictable?" Derek asked
I stood up and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I walked over to Derek, took a deep breath, and swung at him, he blocked it easily. He twisted my arm around and pushed me back, I stumbled a bit.
I sent a kick to his chest, and in response Derek swung his arm out and clawed me in the chest. I ducked as he aimed another blow, after I stood up straight Derek tried clawing me again. I caught his arm this time, turning him around so his back was pressed against my chest, my arm holding him tightly.
"I win." I whispered
Both of us were breathing heavily. Derek turned his head to the side, his lips only centimeters from mine. I loosened my grip and leaned in closer. Derek took this opportunity to flip me over his shoulder, my back hit the ground hard, and I let out an 'oomph'.
"Here's a tip." Derek said
He sighed and pushed his foot down on my chest.
"Don't get distracted." Derek said
Derek let his foot up and I got an idea. I growled and jumped on Derek and kissed him. He let out a growl in pleasure and I smirked against his lips. I took the opportunity and pushed him to the ground and put my foot on his chest.
"Don't get distracted." I mocked
Aaron let out a short laugh, and everyone watched in amusement as I took my foot off Derek and pulled out my phone.
"Are we done?" Isaac asked
Isaac groaned sitting up along with Erica.
"I got about a hundred bones that need a few hours to heal." Isaac said
Derek's face softened, he walked over to Isaac, and kneeled down next to him.
"Let me see." Derek said
Derek held out his hand and Isaac put his arm on it. Without a warning Derek snapped the bone, Isaac crying out in pain as he pulled his hand back.
"A hundred and one." Derek snapped
He grabbed Isaac's hair, pulling him back.
"You think I'm teaching you how to fight? Huh? Look at me! I'm teaching you how to survive!" Derek said
Derek shoved Isaac away, Isaac clutched his arm as he gasped in pain. I narrowed my eyes as I took a step forward.
"If they wanted us dead why aren't they coming for us now? What are they waiting for?" Aaron asked
He raised his eyebrows as Derek shook his head.
"I don't know. But they're planning something. And you, especially, know that's not our only problem." Derek said pointing as Isaac
"Whatever that thing is that killed Isaac's father, I think it killed someone else last night. Until I find out what it is, you all need to learn everything that I know. As fast as I can teach you." Derek said
With that Derek shoved his way into the subway car, leaving the five of us betas alone.
The next day at school, I was walking past the library, when I overheard Jackson talking to Danny. I poked my head around the corner and watched the two.
"Whatever you find, you need to keep it to yourself. Got it?" Jackson whispered
I saw Jackson looking around. I pulled my head away from the door before he noticed me. I could tell that he was nervous based on his heartbeat.
"What's on it?" Danny asked
I poked my head back in the room. I heard Jackson's heartbeat speed up as he grew more anxious.
"It's just me in my room, in bed." Jackson said
He shook his head.
"I'm supposed to watch you in bed?" Danny asked, incredulously
Danny raised an eyebrow and looked at Jackson in disbelief.
"You remember all of the times I told you, you're not my type?" Danny asked
"Just do it." Jackson said
Jackson handed Danny a flashdrive.
"Oh, and, uh, FYI, I'm everyone's type." Jackson said
With that Jackson left the room, on his way out I grabbed the back of his shirt and shoved him against the lockers.
"What were you giving Danny?" I asked
I cocked my head to the side.
"Uh, nothing." Jackson said
He swallowed, and adjusted his backpack.
"Yeah, no." I said
I chuckled.
"I'm not an idiot. Spill." I ordered
"I recorded myself on the full moon." Jackson muttered
I slammed him into the lockers again.
"What?! And you gave it to Danny?!" I exclaimed
"He's not gonna tell anyone." Jackson said
"He better not. Or else I will personally come after you, and kill you myself." I threatened
"Whatever." Jackson said
He walked away and I huffed in annoyance, leaning against the lockers.
