TODAY WAS THE DAY and Lucia could barely contain her nervousness. What Lucia never wanted to admit, because she thought it would affect her work, was that at one point, she truly had a special place in her heart for Gustavo. They were always friends, he didn't always treat her badly and she hated to admit it, but the sex was pretty damn good. But overtime, especially when they got wrapped into the trafficking business and slowly the empire grew, the connection they had became rocky, more volatile and unhealthy, and eventually Lucia found Javier, and even if it's just twice a week she finds herself in his arms for the night, she feels safe, even if she can protect herself.

Lucia slipped out of the compound just after eating breakfast with Tata and the children, she couldn't skip out on breakfast with one of her closest friends, that would have seemed suspicious, as it was custom for the two. She bid them farewell, never spoke a word to Pablo or any of his other men. They knew Gustavo and her were going on a rendezvous, they didn't need to ask any questions. Gustavo had some business to catch up on, telling Lucia he'd meet her there around 1, so she was off and headed for the hotel.

When Lucia turned 33, Javi wanted to surprise her and do something different for once. They had slept together almost twice a week for a year, he thought she deserved more than a good fuck for her birthday. So, he took her to a secluded hotel, about an hour outside of Bogotá, where it was surrounded by vast landscapes of mountains and rivers running through them. It was relaxing and offered the two agents a nice retreat to finally treat each other as if they were in love. That was Lucia's favorite memories of Javier, and whether he wanted to admit it or not, it was Javier's favorite memories of her.

When she arrived she parked the car and took notice that there were two other cars, not enough to be suspicious and because she had some time, she entered the property and into the large foyer that was essentially a courtyard. Carrillo and his men were all armed and ready, lounging and waiting for Gustavo.

"Carrillo!" Lucia called to him and he looked in her direction. He knew Lucia from a ways back, longer than he knew Steve or Javier. She always wanted to join in on the field work when they captured someone, so sometimes he'd let her come with.

"Where's Gustavo?"

"He'll be here in about an hour. Don't be standing out like this. Make it a surprise. He won't walk in otherwise and you'll want him to talk not flee."

"Ok." He told his men to scatter and Lucia went back outside to wait.

Lucia leaned against the car for what seemed like forever. The sun was beating down on her and soon she felt as if she was going to melt into a puddle. Carrillo and his men stayed hidden, she didn't seen either Steve or Javier, which she was glad, because neither of them needed to be there for this, they just needed to know it was done. Soon, Gustavo's car rolled up and parked right next to her. Lucia stood with her arms crossed as he made his way to her, running a hand through his hair, slicking it backwards from his face. He approached Lucia and wrapped a sloppy arm around her and pulled her in for a kiss. She had to oblige, even though she knew what was going to happen.

"Wait until we get inside." Lucia told him and he understood why, just cautious if there were people there that were enemies to Pablo. And boy. There were.

Gustavo, with his arm still slung over Lucia's shoulders, led the way, sauntering into the courtyard of the hotel, unaware of the heavy police presence hiding around them. They entered the courtyard and Lucia could practically feel her heart beating out of her chest, the thought of the whole situation scared her to say the least, but she was an agent and that was her job. Gustavo halted once he saw the police move around the two, removing his arm from around Lucia's shoulders and turning to her with a worst look she had ever received from a man, hatred. Carrillo strutted around from behind a pillar and held back a satisfactory look on his face. He's finally got one of Pablo's men and Gustavo couldn't flee this time. Gustavo's eyes were trained on Lucia because he knew it was her who set this up. And his instincts were right the entire time, she was just playing him for the government.

Lucia swallowed the lump that formed in her throat and cleared it. Carrillo grasped Gustavo's hands behind his back and tied them up.

"You fucking bitch. I'll have Pablo slit your fucking throat for what you've done. Fuck."

As Carrillo talked to him Lucia stared at the state. Even though she was in the DEA and although she was with Javier too, faking feelings for Gustavo was harder than she thought and now she was stuck in a rut and she knew Gustavo probably wouldn't get out of Carrillo's grasp alive and it hurt her inside.

Carrillo, his team, and Lucia took Gustavo to an empty warehouse. It was in an almost abandoned part of the city so people wouldn't hear anything. Gustavo sat surrounded by Carrillo's men tied to a chair. Gustavo was ready to die, even if he wasn't moments before he arrived there. He wouldn't sell Pablo's secrets for anything, he was the most loyal partner Pablo could have ever asked for. Carrillo told Gustavo that he wasn't going to be the one to do it, then proceeded to introduce several men and told Gustavo the stories of how he, Gustavo, ruined their lives by killing someone who meant something to them in an event that he had coordinated on behalf of Pablo's exploits.
"This is Trujillo, you killed his brother and father because they were cops." Carrillo told Gustavo and he didn't flinch or show emotion.
"That wasn't me." He told Carrillo and he rose a brow at the man tied to the chair.
"No? If you support evil, you are evil. Look at them." Carrillo told him to look at the men who surrounded him. The men whose lives he destroyed to help his cousin build an empire of illegal goods in order to gain power and money. Carrillo instructed Gustavo to look around at these victims and Gustavo did, not caring truly. "Tell me, have you ever felt the swift vengeance of Justice? Give me your cousin, or I'll let these men show you that vengeance with their fists."

Gustavo looked at the men, one by one, again before turning back to Carrillo.

"Do it then, you sons of bitches."

It was a while after then men started beating Gustavo that he sat there beaten to a pulp. He was bloody and bruised and Carrillo couldn't help but revel in satisfaction over it. Lucia stood next to him with her arms crossed in front of her. She was almost in a daze after watching them beat Gustavo like that, but she knew the consequences of his actions. He murdered, planned the murders of hundreds of people's deaths because of his cousin. He thought he sat at the right hand of the father and now he fell from heaven in a brutal way, but Lucia thought, at least it appeared, that Gustavo couldn't care less that his children would be fatherless and that his wife would be a widow. He certainly hated Lucia for the fact he got caught but he knew it would come eventually, he wasn't stupid, they weren't invincible but he knew it felt nice to live like they were.

Carrillo approached Gustavo again and repeated, again and again, "tell me where your cousin is."

Gustavo didn't say anything except "we're bandits, not snitches motherfucker." And then Proceeded to laugh hysterically. He seemed quite sarcastic and disillusioned after being beaten for so long. He began shouting that they were all going to die for what they've done to him and perhaps he wasn't wrong. Carrillo and certainly Lucia knew that Pablo wasn't going to take this easily and he most definitely wasn't going to take this with a grain of salt when looking at the police and any government agency. They also knew that they would have large bounties on their heads for putting this threw, and the best way to prevent Gustavo from telling Pablo anymore information about what they carried out, was to kill him. Carrillo handed Lucia the gun and she looked down at it with a confused face.

"Justice only occurs when you're willing to sacrifice everything for a little ounce of something good. No matter what no one will know who actually did it but it only makes sense to have those who have had their lives destroyed most by Pablo to carry out this deed. And that means you're the only one left to do it.  Take your time. We'll all be behind you."

Carrillo and the rest of the men began walking backwards leaving a frustrated Lucia standing face to face with Gustavo who was now coming back down from his high.

"Do it." Gustavo egged her on and no ounce of sympathy or sadness traced his face. On the other hand, Lucia felt like she could vomit. As much as she knew how much terror Gustavo caused in Colombia the past few years she still remembered the way he made her feel when they laid in bed together after a long week or the way he smiled at her from across the room at a meeting with Pablo. But she had to do this. For all the people he's murdered and all the people who can't make justice happen for those whom they lost.

"Do it!" Gustavo yelled again at her and she rose the gun to his head and stepped closer. She clenched the gun so tightly her fists were turning white.

"Do it! You fucking bitch! Do it!"

Those were the last words Gustavo ever yelled at her. She pulled the trigger and he was gone. The chair fell sideways and his bloody body laid on the floor.

It had been hours since she killed Gustavo and because of her close range the blood on her literal hands and shirt hadn't been washed off yet. The team was just making their way back to DEA headquarters in Bogotá, ready to tell them what happened. Once the truck stopped, Lucia jumped out of the back of the vehicle and quickly made her way upstairs and to her office, ignoring the whispers and gasps as she made her way into the building. Luckily, no one stopped her so she was able to slam the door and close the blinds before she broke down sobbing in her dark office. The door to her office opened and closed before she had a minute to say anything but arms engulfed her in a bone crushing hug that she couldn't help but welcome. He felt his lips kiss the top of her head and he moved his face to the side of her head to whisper in her ear.

"You're safe now. Everything is going to be okay. I promise."
