Mike and the others had arrived at a small motel. It was late at night, but the light in the main room was still on with the door unlocked. "Okay." Mike said while turning to the others. "I'm gonna go in there and see if Pete's there. You guys wait out here. It should only take a few minutes."
"You better be right. It's almost morning, Mike and we need to sleep." Brad said back while lighting a cigarette. Mike glared at him then walked inside.
"Yo, Wentz? You here?" He looked over at the desk table to see that Patrick was sitting there, reading a book. "Pat, is Pete here?"
Patrick looked up from his book and said, "No. Sorry, Mike. He won't be back for another few hours."
"Text him and tell him not to come back. We're bombing the whole town."
"Really? But I have someone sleeping here."
Mike shook his head in annoyance and said, "Who the hell would come to this damn town in the middle of the night?"
"Well, there's you and your..." Patrick stopped mid-sentence after seeing that Mike was being serious and looked like he was about to explode. "Oh... Um, there was this guy who came here and he's sleeping right now I assume. They're in room J-20-17."
Mike's face dropped and went pale. "Didn't I tell you that room was off limits unless my boyfriend came in for a room?"
"Very good, you found out who the person is." Patrick applaud him in a sarcastic way.
"Chazy's here?" Mike's face brightened up. "Right now?"
"Yeah, you can go-" Mike ran off before Patrick could finish his sentence. He half-asian had to see this for himself. Chester? Here?! This was too good to be true! No way was his boyfriend sleeping in the little room he had made especially for him. He thought that thing would never get used.
He got to the room and ran right in there. Chester had forgotten to lock it.
Right as Mike entered through the door, he saw Chester lying down on the couch, sleeping peacefully. The young man held his breath, scared that his breathing would wake him. He shut the door behind him quietly, locked it with the key that was on a table nearby and slowly moved towards the couch where Chester was.
When he reached it, he got down onto his knees and watched the older man in front of him sleep. His face was so relaxed with a small smile playing on his lips. His stomach rose and fell in a steady rhythm. He looked as if he were completely happy with life, even though he wasn't. Mike knew that for a fact, since what happened yesterday had to have upset him. It almost made Mike cry thinking about how he caused him to run away late yesterday afternoon.
Chester moved slightly in his sleep, causing Mike to snap out of his thoughts and move back a bit. "Mike." Chester whimpered quietly. He must've been having a nightmare. Was it about him? Maybe... Either that or it was about something else and Chester was calling out to him for help... Or it was the other thing...
He moved back over to Chester, watching as his breathing started to pick up and he squirmed. "Mike. Mike! Please, don't..." Mike noticed that tears started to form in the corners of Chester's eyes. That's when he started to do something.
"Chaz. Chaz, wake up." Mike said while gently shaking him. "Chazy!" he said louder while shaking him harder. Chester's eye shot open quickly and he looked around the room. As soon as his eyes met Mike's, the tears started to fall.
"Oh, my God. Mike." He cried out while pulling him into a tight hug. "I-I th-thought you w-were de..."
"Shh, I'm okay, Chester." Mike rubbed his back while gently kissing the top of his head. "What happened?"
"I... I had a-a b-b-bad dream." He stuttered through the tears. "Yo-you died and I-I cou-couldn't do an-anything t-t-to sa-save you and..."
"Shh, Chaz. It's okay. I'm here now. I got you." Mike comforted him. He couldn't believe this was happening. Even after what happened yesterday, Chester still cared about him enough to cry about a nightmare where he's dead. Chester still cared about him as much as Mike cared about him. It made what Mike was about to do seem more awful than it would've... Not like that was hard.
He waited a few minutes before whispering softly, "Hey, Chester. You okay now?"
The older man was still sniffling, but the tears had stopped falling and his breathing was slowly returning to it's normal speed. "A little bit... Why?"
Mike didn't answer. All he did was move Chester's head to where it was facing his and started to roughly kiss him. He felt Chester tense up and let out a surprised squeak. He tried to pull away, but Mike pulled him back in. The half-asian wasn't ready to let the other go. He wanted him at the moment. He needed him.
"Mike." Chester tried to say into the kiss, but it turned into a muffled sound.
Mike pulled away and started leaving kisses and bite marks along Chester's neck. "Mike..." the older man gasped out. "Mike, stop..." He whimpered. Mike didn't listen though. His senses were too clouded. Clouded with lust and the feel of Chester against him. This wasn't really how he wanted this to turn out, but it felt like the right thing to do... But was it?
Mike didn't care enough to think about whether this was wrong or right. His main focus was on Chester. He wanted to feel his skin against him. He wanted to hear him scream out. Chester didn't seem to want it though. Not even a little bit. "Mike, please..." Chester whimpered again, tears threatening to pour from his eyes again. Memories from that one night flooded into his mind. He didn't want to live through that again. Especially not with the one man he loved more than anything in the world.
The younger of the two didn't seem to care about what Chester wanted though, and pinned him down onto the couch, never leaving contact with his neck. Now the tears were really falling. "MIKE!" Chester cried out, trying to push him off. "I DON'T WANT THIS! GET OFF ME!"
"But... Don't you love me, sweetheart?" Mike asked him, gently caressing his cheeks. Chester took this time to grab the cube on the coffee table and slam it into Mike's head. Mike yelled out in pain, grabbing onto this head. Chester shoved him off and was able to get up from the couch before Mike get react to anything going on.
"This can't be happening." Chester thought to himself. The cube was still in his hand, just in case Mike decided to something when he got back to his senses.
"Chester, what the fuck?!" Mike yelled out in anger.
"Same to you!" Chester cried back, still crying from what just happened. "I can't believe this... Is that why you're here?"
"Chester, no. I came here to see you. I missed you and I wanted-"
"To rape me?"
"No!"
"Then why did you do that?"
Mike had no words after that. He couldn't think of anything to say that would make this situation any better until he noticed the cube in Chester's hand. He still had... and it was it's second stage. "Chazy... I... You need to give me the cube." He finally said, thinking that it was the only thing he could say without it sounding awful.
"Oh, of course. This stupid block that's only brought pain ever since it entered my life. Like I said before, I'm not giving it to you, Mike. I know what you've been doing this."
Mike's face dropped and he almost felt like he had been shot. "You... You know? Really know?"
"Of course I know. You and... You and those... Those bastards have been killing people. You attacked Westing. Brad lost his snake charm and the news found it. This cube... You've been using it to kill people and destroy their homes. You're probably destroying this place too. Well, fuck you, Mike! Fuck you and all your..."
"I'm doing this for you!" Mike shouted out. "I want to get back at the people who hurt you, Chaz."
Chester laughed maniacally, all the stress was getting to him. "So you decided to turn into murderer and be someone who's worse than them?! God, at the rate you're going, you're gonna end up killing yourself because you're making my life fucking miserable!"
"Chaz." Mike tried to say but Chester ran away. Once again, Mike was alone. At least the room was still in contact. He had that going for him. He needed to go after Chester though, so he ran out of the room in the direction Chester had.
Chester had already made it outside. The sun was rising over the horizon and heat was already starting to rise. Brad, Rob, Dave and Joe saw him run out the motel, leaving all them confused until Mike showed up. "Go after him!" Mike yelled, and they immediately obeyed.
Chester saw that they were now following him and decided that the best way to lose them would be to try and outsmart them, so he ran a sharp turn around a few buildings and sprinted to another turn.
The other five lost him so they split up. Mike went forward, Dave and Joe went left and Rob and Brad turned right, which happened to be where Chester had turned the first time.
"You go that way, I'll go this way." Rob shouted to Brad while pointing left for Brad to go and Rob continued to run forward.
Brad was now able to see Chester, and the older man knew he had to do something quick, so he ran into a building out of instinct. Brad was still running after him and Rob and Dave had joined up with him. So, Chester ran up the stairs to the top floor and was met with a dead end at a balcony outside. He turned around to see the three men had caught up to him and Joe just joined in. Mike still hadn't caught up.
"That motherfucker." Chester thought to himself as he watched his four best friends lift up their guns, leaving Chester stranded at gunpoint.
"Give it up, Chester." Rob said. "Mike will be here any second and he doesn't seem really happy about this."
"He deserves to be unhappy anyway." Chester spatted out. "And why the hell are you guys helping him? Don't you see that what he's doing is-"
"What we think is not important." Dave cut Chester off.
"What you all think is important. He's using all of you as his puppets to do his dirty work. And don't you all realize that killing these people wi-"
"ENOUGH!" Brad shouted out. "Now if you don't give us that defyer-"
Chester cut him off by laughing. "What? You're gonna kill me? I've heard that one before."
Brad was pissed off now and he was about to pull the trigger on his gun when the cube started making a loud ticking noise. Brad, Joe, Rob and Dave knew what that meant, but Chester was confused. "Why is it ticking?" He asked, then the cube made a loud lazer sound and a shock wave went out around the area.
Nothing happened to the building or Chester, but the other four men were frozen in place. "... Did I do that?" Chester asked them, hoping they'd be able to answer.
"You didn't do anything to set off, did you?" Mike asked while finally walking into the room they were in. He leaned up against the wall beside him, panting from all of the running he just done.
Chester turned his head to where Mike was and Rob, Joe, Dave and Brad moved their eyes towards the sound to look at the half-asian, who was currently out of breath.
Once Mike was able to breath again, he walked up to his four best friends and stood in the middle of them, standing right in front of his boyfriend. "What happened to you guys?"
"The defyer. It's in stage three now." Rob told him.
Mike looked over at the cube to see it was silver with green embroidered swirls of light on it now. He looked up at Chester and asked, "Chaz, can you listen to me now?" He gave Chester a look of guilt and regret.
Chester always had a weakness for that look. He hated whenever Mike looked that way. It made him so vulnerable, and sadly, this time didn't make it any different. Chester walked up to Mike and let the young half-asian pull him into a hug. Mike patted his back a few times before rubbing it gently. Once Chester got comfortable, he relaxed complete but hesitantly said, "Yeah... I'll listen."
Mike smiled and said softly into Chester's ear, as if he were talking to a child, "Sweetheart, that cube is very dangerous you know? You could hurt someone if you're not careful."
"I know but-"
"Baby, don't you think you should give it back to me?" Mike cut off Chester. He needed to persuade Chester into giving him the cube, then after him and the other four blow up the place they can try to get Chester to join up with them. Mike even had a snake charm waiting for him. It was a locket charm with a snake around the edges of a heart. The head rested on the front of the heart and inside it was a picture of them back from a few years back.
Chester still hadn't answered Mike's question. He couldn't give the cube back to Mike. Not when he knew there was a huge chance that Mike would use it to destroy more places and kill more people. Chester couldn't let that happen... And he wasn't gonna let it happen.
"No." Chester said quietly. He pulled away from Mike and backed up until he was touching the balcony railing.
Mike shook his head sadly and sighed. "Well, I guess I should've seen that coming." He said, then raised his arm towards Chester and pointed at him, signalling to the other four to attack him.
By now all four of them were able to move again, so they started running towards Chester, but before they could catch him, he jumped off the balcony and landed on the ground somewhat gracefully. He looked up for a quick second then made a run for it, knowing that this time there was no way they'd catch up to him this time.
------------------------------------------------------------
The five didn't try going after Chester once he ran away for a third time. They decided to go back to the little hideout to try and find out what they could do about the situation. Rob, Dave and Brad were sitting on the beat up couch, Joe was sitting in a small chair and Mike was pacing in a line.
"So, Chester knows we kill people." Brad said, getting a nod from Mike.
"He also knows that we're trying to go after him." Rob said, which earned another nod.
"He still has the defyer." Dave added, getting a third nod.
"And the defyer is in it's third stage and he's not giving it back to us any time soon." Joe added.
"Yeah, I know." Mike spoke up. He stopped walking and looked at all four of them. "But we have to keep trying." He took out the locket for Chester and opened it up. The first thing he saw was Chester's smiling face. He was happy back then. They were both really happy back then. "I need to make this right." He said to the guys. "Come on. Joe and Dave get the fire and gravity defyer. Rob set up the bomb defyer, Brad and I are putting it in the middle of this place then we're all leaving to go find Chester."
Joe and Dave got up from their seats and grabbed to two defyers. The fire one was red with orange and yellow flames on it and the gravity defyer was purple with a white faded watercolor pattern covering it.
All five of them left the place to go to the center of the little town. No one was there, which made their job easy. Brad set the defyer on the ground and Mike pushed the button, instantly setting off a force field around them while destroying and killing everything and everyone around the place.
Once the defyer had set everything to ash, the force field was lifted and the five men were gone quickly. Now they just had to find Chester again and get back that defyer. They needed it before it reached the fifth and final stage. Then, everything will be back as planned. At least, that's what they hoped.
But finding Chester should be easy this time. Mike put the tracker on him. He knew exactly where Chester was right now. And it was the exact place they needed him to be.
"When they come for me, I'll be gone."
