She had a heart of glass,

and every insult caused a crack.

She tried to glue it together,

but the words could never be taken back.


And she had a tempest of a soul,

yet every expectation chained her down.

She tried to break free of the restraints,

but in her cage, freedom could never be found.


She fought so hard to keep her light,

but one day her glass heart shattered.

And she begged tearfully to be free,

but those who locked her down had scattered.


So she was left all alone,

broken hearted and spirit chained.

And people brushed her peril off,

claiming that she was just insane.


And the asylum was a lonely place,

because her mind had never really snapped.

People just didn't want to admit she was hurting,

so they categorized her pain as handicapped.
