Emily's pov
Since my birthday last year my mom and Alison have became increasingly closer. On the 3rd Thursday of every month they go out together. I honestly think my mom prefers Ali. My mom says I'm left out so that me, Grace and Lily can get individual mother, daughters bonding. However, I strongly disagree; I believe...I know that they leave me out because they want their own mother, daughter bonding. Am I jealous of Alison? Of course I am.
"You look very dolled up" I question,
looking over to my smiling wife. She has a black skater dress on, matched with black platform boots and a sparkly black purse
"I want to make an impression. Your mom is always dressed so nice"
"Where is it you are going again? Oh yeah the cinema. You'll need to make sure my mom doesn't lose you when the lights go out" I pause "you know with all your black clothes, you'll blend into the blackness of the cinema. All you'll see is your shiny, perfectly curled blonde hair" words begin to flow out my mouth like a broken faucet
"Em, you can come if you want. I mean me and Mom..."
"My mom"
"...and your mom have pre-booked our seats"
"I'm okay. I hope you and my mom have a fun mother and daughter-in-law bonding date" I snarl
"Don't worry we will" Alison storms out the house
'My mom' I repeat over in my head
"What I bitch" I whisper to myself
"Oh my fucking god. I am such a bitch" I mutter at the top of my lungs
"Mom you said bad words" Lily says, tugging on my ripped skinny jeans
"Sorry baby. I'll never say that again"
Ali's pov
"Hey Pam" I smile as she kisses my cheek to greet me
"Hello Alison. Are you okay? You look upset"
"Oh it's nothing"
Pam tilts her head and her eyes dampen with empathy
"Alison" she says, placing her hand on top of mine
"It's Emily. She seems annoyed that we are going out. She's right, you are her mom. But you are the only mom I have left" I cry
Pam pulls me into a hug and slowly strokes my back. Muttering "It's okay Alison" as my tears damper her beautiful coordinated outfit.
"Alison you are my daughter. Yes I didn't bring you up and I wasn't part of your family until a few years ago but you are my daughter"
"I knew that you would become a part of my family ever since I asked Emily if she loved you"
"What?" I enquire, unaware of what Pam is referring too
"Do you remember that strange day with I randomly invited you to dinner? It wasn't like me but I was desperate to see you and Emily together because I realised that she might have liked you as more than a friend. After you left I asked her about her feelings for you. She told me she wasn't sure but her eyes told me different" she pauses and smiles at me
"Every time I asked her about her feelings her eyes would fall to the floor and I could see a terrifying glimmer of shame however, when I asked her about you, her eyes filled with love. I knew she has and will always love you"
I smile back at her, blushing as she continues
"I mean I never knew that I would end up with two beautiful granddaughters the way I did but I knew she loved you. I think that Emily is jealous, but not of you. I think she's jealous that I'm spending this time with you, time that she could spend by your side"
I blink repeatedly not knowing how to reply
"Alison will you do me a favour?"
"Of course"
"Go home and give your wife a big kiss because it sounds like you both really need it"
"But...what about our day out?"
"You know, I've planned out every moment of my life. Until Emily met you. I planned that my daughter would marry a handsome man and then she feel in love with you. I never invited anyone to my house without planning every detail for months however, when you came back I invited you out of the blue. I never thought I'd have another daughter and now I have you. Alison you've made my daughter's life better, you make her feel extremely happy and loved. But she isn't the only one you've helped. You have helped me venture out of my comfort zone and appreciate the true meaning of love. To hell with the cinema we'll go another day. Tonight your wife needs you" Pam slowly says, wrapping her hand around the car door handle
"Goodbye Daughter" Pam winks at me
Emily's pov
The door handle turns and the door is hurled open. Alison runs into the house
"What happened? Is my mom oka..."
Alison's lips crash into mine. Her cold hands caress my hips
"She's absolutely amazing. Emily, I love you" I sweetly smile
"What?" Emily asks, wondering what happened
"Your mom..."
"Alison I'm so sorry about that. She isn't only my mom. She's our mom"
I smile at Emily and continue to smile with my eyes as I finish my previous sentence
"She told me about how I've effected her life and she reminded me that I shouldn't take you for granted because there was a long and lonely time in my life when I did take you for granted. I made you feel unloved because I was scared of my feelings for you. From now on I am going to tell you how much I love you every day"
"Alison I know you love me and I love you too. I'm sorry for being rude about your date with my mom. I guess I was just jealous that the two women who mean the world to me are going out with out me"
I awkwardly laugh, running my hand along her forehead; pushing Emily's hair out of her face
"Your mom told me to do this"
"Do what?"
I smile before kissing Emily quickly on the lips. I love kissing Emily passionately especially when it leads to more than a kiss however, my favourite kisses are the short innocent ones; just like our first kiss in the library
