Thanks to Nate for the suggestion)
Oh boy.
Well first off, sorry it took me so bloody long to write this I just sort of hit this wall where all motivation for this book fucking DIED but now I'm here!!!
Anyways.
Crappy fanfics.
Oh boy.
There's so. Fucking. MANY.
Especially on Wattpad, which honestly might be the worse part of the whole thing. Wattpad is really an entry level app for people getting onto fanfictions so as a result, a lot of those entry level fan fics end up here. That's isn't necessarily a bad thing, the Wattpad community is pretty friendly and welcoming overall, and obviously this is good for a new writer they can improve their skills here without people hating on their shit.
But
I mean
Dear goddddddddddddddddddd
Minor grammar and spelling mistakes I forgive, like "your" instead of "you're" etc etc, but a lot of the stories here just flow really fucking weirdly (I.E. they're crappily written fanfics).
Like here's an example I come across weapon.
"She dodged and attacked with her weapon, which was a scythe that could transform into a sniper"
It just flows really fucking badly.
A good writing might be:
"She dodged and attacked with her scythe"
And if you must add an extra information:
"She dodged and attacked with her scythe-sniper combination"
You can even incorporate it into the story to make it flow much better,
"She dodged and attacked with her scythe, ready to switch it to its sniper function for a ranged attack"
So now that we're done in flow let's move onto the actual writing for them.
They're bad alright? I mean there's not much to say here, the way they write is really jarring, you have to question a lot of it, decipher a lot, and poor word choice all make it bad. It's even worsened by the terrible flow that typically accompanies it. OH AND THE PLOT AND SEQUENCE IS TERRIBLE. Like, (if it's a "X reader" book):
"We leaned in and kissed"
"Y/N: I love you!"
Etc, etc
Like, it's always cliche. Something big and emotional happens then "Wait I love you!" etc etc. (I'm using romance as an example because a majority of wattpad books are romance, and that's what I have experience with) There's noting leading up to it, and if there is it's still cliche or bad it's like "Oh mah god, why I do feel (X way) around her???" there's just nothing romantic or meaningful leading up to the "I love you" moment.
So yeah. That's my opinion on crappy fanfics.
They're crappy. Crappily written, thought out poorly, and just terrible reads overall.
