We shared little laughter as kids
Not limited
But little
Little sounds
That made meaning
And had their tone
While we wondered
Why the Adults laughed so
The way they do
In some noise-ful fashion
But now
As adults
We wonder
Why we cackle
And jerk
And jump
Sometimes reaching for the floor
Tears in our eyes
Pain in our jaw
Mirth in our thoughts
As we laugh
Our laughter
