Yoongi laid on the couch listening to his girlfriend plunk out random notes on the old, upright piano.  She had made very little progress but to be fair it wasn't her fault.  She was busy with helping him and the other two rappers get everything lined up for their new contract.

"Noonaaaaaaah!!  Please!"  Taahyung's voice loudly whined from his room.  He had been very patient with Yoongi's new frequent guest but he was trying desperately to finish a commission and the constant plunking was close to driving him to madness.

In all honest, her practicing was starting to grate Yoongi's nerves a bit also, but instead of getting impatient with her, he simply got up and walked over, nudging her to scoot over on the bench.   He sat down and cast a sidelong glance at her before easily placing his hands into the keyboard.  As his fingers deftly moved among the keys a beautifully soft melody rang out.

"Thank you, hyung!"

Macie giggled quietly and sighed.  "I should try to figure out a schedule to practice when Tae isn't home."

Yoongi shrugged.  "He's always home," he mumbled, fingers still moving slowly.

"I'm well aware," she grumbled. Macie laid her head on his shoulder and listened to her boyfriend play.  Everything was quiet and comfortable between them, even though they had only been together a couple of months now.  Everything between them had moved very slow, and she accepted that as Yoongi's style.  She felt Yoongi's shoulders heave into a sigh and the music ceased.  She sat up and looked at him curiously but said nothing as she watched his eyes stare intently at the keyboard.

"You know we're moving to a company dorm soon," said Yoongi, a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Mm hm."

"And...you also know I'm going to have to keep you and I...well, on the down low."  His voice held a tinge of sadness.

Macie looked down at the black and white keys and nodded.  She reached over and removed some dust between two black keys and then put her hands into her lap.

Yoongi watched her and sighed softly.  "Macie, I've wanted to do music my whole life but to be honest, I'm really happy with you.  I don't want this to come between us because I like what we have.  Maybe I shouldn't have even signed-"

Macie vigorously shook her head.  "Don't even say it," she said, effectively cutting him off before he could say something he would regret.  "What if you and I don't work out in the long run?  You would have turned down this once in a lifetime opportunity for some woman you didn't stay with!"

"Who says we won't work out," he said lowly.

"Well, no one in particular," she hedged, now fidgeting nervously in her seat.  As she moved to get up, Yoongi quickly grabbed ahold of her hand, tugging slightly to keep her in place.

"I'm happy with you, Macie.  I've never been so happy that someone answered my stupid ad as I've been since you came along.  You've helped change my life, and not just because you got RM, Hobi, and I an audition.  You make me happy."  His eyes bored into hers and he felt an urge to lean forward and he followed it.

Macie watched him edge closer to her and she stilled.  This was something they had never done but she would be lying if she said she hadn't wanted them to.  As she watched him move closer to her face she thought to meet him in the middle and leaned forward slightly herself.

"Hyung, I wanted to let you know that I talked to Jimin and-" Taehyung stopped and looked up from his phone just in time to see the couple suddenly jump away from one another, causing Yoongi to fall off the piano bench and hit the floor.  "Oops," giggled Taehyung.

Yoongi stood to his feet and glared at his roommate.

Taehyung withered a bit under his stare and silently looked at Macie for help but she was quickly making herself busy straightening the lesson book in front of her.

"What do you want, Tae," grumbled Yoongi, now rubbing his sore bottom.

"Ah...well, I just wanted you to know I talked to Jimin and he and Jungkook said they could let me move in with them when you move out.  Apparently they are going to be renting from a guy named Jin here in a week or two and and he has a bigger house with several rooms.  Jimin talked to him for me and I can move in as soon as I want.  I mean, since you'll be moving out, I can't really afford to stay here alone."  Taehyung looked around the dingy apartment sadly.  It wasn't the best apartment.  It was in dire need of a pain job, a fumigation, and a load of other work.  But it was home and had been for several years now, and along with Yoongi's friendship, it had given Taehyung a stable place in the world.

Yoongi blinked at Taehyung and looked around.

Moving out...

His mind completely understood what was happening in his life but his heart was having all kinds of trouble.  He looked back at Taehyung and it suddenly hit him that he would be losing his roommate and friend.  "Taehyung, I'm really sorry.  I don't think I properly considered what would happen to you if I moved out."  He walked towards his friend slowly, feeling an overwhelming rush of sadness hit him.

Taehyung smiled bravely and shook his head, blinking back tears.  "No, hyung, this is what you've been working towards.  I was just a freeloader anyway.  I'm so happy for you.  You know I'm your biggest fan."

Yoongi's heart hurt as he watched his friend put on a brave front for him.

"Were his biggest fan," piped Macie.

The silence extended for just a moment before everyone in the room laughed.

"You're right, noona," laughed Taehyung.  "I guess I can hand that title over to you now.  But honestly, hyung, I'll always support you and if you ever need me for anything I'm just a text or call away."  Taehyung could no longer contain his emotions and he quickly moved to Yoongi, engulfing the smaller man in a tight hug.

Yoongi laughed softly and wrapped his arms around Taehyung, holding him just as tight.  "You're so sentimental," mumbled Yoongi.

"Hey, this is really not fair," pouted Macie.  "I haven't even gotten a decent hug yet!"

The two men parted and laughed.  It was true, though.  Macie and Yoongi had never even hugged.  Macie had tried to instigate a few but Yoongi would always worm his way out of them or they would be interrupted.  It seemed he was intent on making sure this relationship moved at a proper pace.

Taehyung looked between the two as he released Yoongi from his arms. "I...uh...I need to run to the art store.  I need some...paint or something," he finished, his voice trailing off into a mumble.  He definitely noticed what had almost happened earlier and he felt terrible about it.  This was not the first time he had interrupted them but he determined this would be the last time he did and never gave them space to resume.  He paused briefly before scurrying back to his room and grabbing his jacket and wallet.  He quickly looked at the couple and then waved awkwardly as he practically ran out of the apartment.

"He left!  Just like that?"  Macie giggled and turned back to the piano, pulling the lid closed slowly.

Yoongi pushed his hands into his pockets and looked at his girlfriend.  The room felt thick with tension and awkwardness.  He could only thank Taehyung for that.  The man could create awkwardness, then run away and leaving everyone else to clear it up.  He watched as Macie pushed in the piano bench, tendrils of her hair creeping down her neck from her messy bun.  He swallowed.

"So," she said, starting to turn around, "I thought maybe we could catch a mov-" Her words were cut off as a pair of thin and cool hands cupped her face and pulled her close.  She saw his eyes for just a moment before both pairs were closed.

Yoongi held her face gently but firmly, his kiss soft and patient.  He couldn't believe he was doing this right now but to be honest, since earlier this was all he had wanted to do.  As one of his hands moved down to the side of her neck, he felt relief and happiness wash over him.  Frankly, he had wanted to do this for so long and the right time had never presented itself.  But now they were blissfully alone and with an unknown length of separation looming on the horizon, he wanted nothing more than this moment right here with her right now.

Macie melted.  She never expected this to happen right now.  Sure, they had almost kissed earlier but like always, something interrupted and the moment was lost.  Perhaps it was the feelings Taehyung had triggered in Yoongi that made him feel like he needed to do this right now.  Or perhaps he just found the right moment finally.  Regardless, she didn't care.  Her arms slid around his slim waist and held him close, returning his kiss with all the sweetness and love she could pull from her heart.  She cared deeply about this man who had accidentally found his way into her life and heart.  It meant a lot to her that he had withheld physical contact short of holding hands.  It showed he respected and cared about her.  Yes, this moment happened at just the right time for her, but still not quite soon enough.

Yoongi was happy.  The feel of her arms around him, her warm skin under his hands, everything about this kiss made him happy.  The moment was bittersweet but still precious to him.  He wouldn't get many of these  anymore for a while and it made him eager to enjoy it all the more while he could.   He hated himself for having waited so long but he knew it was the right thing to do.  This moment was perfect.

The couple enjoyed their moment, soaking in the warmth and happiness it created.  Macie finally had to get a breath though and so she pulled away, looking up at Yoongi's dark gaze.  "What was that for?" She grinned and swayed him gently back and forth.

Yoongi smirked and quirked an eyebrow.  "Are you complaining," he whispered, studying her face.

Macie shook her head softly.  "Never," she giggled.

"Good.  Because I could easily handle a few more of those," he said quietly, leaning close again.

"Well aren't you greedy," she murmured, smiling against his lips that were back on top of hers.

"Mm hm."

Another kiss and then another.  Finally Yoongi leaned back and looked at down at her. "Will you miss me?"

"Like mad."

"Maybe I should keep this apartment...you know...so we can hang out or whatever."

Macie laughed and shook her head.  "No way.  You're always welcome at my place.  And anyway, you're moving up in the world, I know it.  You deserve some place much better than this."

Yoongi looked around as he huffed her close to his chest, swaying and smiling as his chin rested on her head.  "It's all because of you, you know."

"Nah.  Fate brought us together, Yoongi.  You were already talented and ready to make your mark, I just helped push you over the top."  She snuggled her head into his chest and enjoyed the warmth emanating from him.

"Fate, huh?  I guess that's true, because you really suck at playing the piano." He giggled as he felt her finger dig into his side.

"Hey, it's only because I have a lousy teacher," she teased.

Yoongi laughed and held her tighter.  "No matter what happens with my career, I'm not letting you go, you know, literally and figuratively."  He kissed the top of her head sweetly.  "So wait for me?"

"I'm not going anywhere," she smiled.

Yoongi grinned proudly.  No matter what was coming on the horizon for him and his friends, he knew it would be a lot easier with this woman on his side, backing him up, supporting him when he needed it most.  All the years of struggle and rejection seemed okay to him now, because he knew that everything good had been waiting for her to come into his life.  She showed up at just the right moment when he would be ready for her and she was the beginning of all things wonderful for him.

He smiled as he pondered, his heart full and warm and his arms full of a woman he loved.

"I don't care what brought you across my path, Macie, but if fate wants to continue writing our song, I'm happy to let it."

Macie giggled in his arms and shook her head. "You're so cheesy!"

"I know, right?  I gave myself goosebumps."

The couple laughed and stayed in each other's arms, happy and excited to see what "fate" had for them next.
