"I take it you worked everything out with Kevin."
"I did," I said plopping down in the chair beside her. We were silent for a moment until Janelle spoke up.
"So. What happened?"
I sighed and told Janelle about my night with Gia and her friends.
"You not still gon' hang out with her are you," Janelle asked.
"I don't think so, but her friends, maybe. They were really cool. If you weren't taken I'd hook you up with---"
"Who," Adrian said walking up on us with Kevin.
Janelle and I jumped. "Fuck. Y'all always do that," I said clutching my chest.
"That's because y'all probably doing something y'all have no business doing," Kevin said.
"Facts," Adrian said as he sat down. "So. Alyssa. Who would you have hooked her up with," he said eyeballing me.
"Jesus. He's a wonderful friend of mine," I said shaking my head. Kevin, moving me out of my seat, sat where I was sitting, and pulled me into his lap. "Alyssa if you think I believe that you a damn fool," Adrian said to me. I looked at him in shock. "You don't believe me and Jesus are tight?"
"Unlike your pussy? No," Josh said coming up behind me. I gasped and hit him a few times on the arm. "Imma rinse your mouth out with soap," I said to him as he sat across from us. Josh smirked. "You got anything in an 8 inch dick? I'm sure that would do the trick." My eyes grew wide. "Oh bitch! You nasty as hell. You might need to teach me a few tricks," I whispered leaning in closer to him. "I got you," he laughed.
Josh looked between us. "I need a man," he whined.
"Ah. I see. We're finally getting to the root of the problem. You just need some dick," Janelle laughed. "Oh. Alyssa gets moody like that too," Kevin teased. "Oop," Janelle said looking away and trying not to laugh. I elbowed Kevin in his side. "No the fuck I don't. Shut up."
"Aye Alyssa what's up," someone said behind me. Everyone turned around. I stood up. "Hey G! How are you?" He gave me a warm embrace. "I'm good!" I grabbed his hand. "Let me introduce you to a few of my friends. "Okay you already met Kevin. Baby you remember Gio," I asked turning to him. Kevin dapped him up. "What's up man?" I grabbed his arm. "Okay. This is my bestfriend Janelle and her boyfriend Adrian." Adrian gave him a quick dap. "How's it going man?" Janelle held out her hand. "Hey! You can just me call J. It's nice to meet you." I turned him around one final time. "Gio, Josh. Josh, Gio," I said pointing between them. Gio shook his hand and grinned. "It's nice to meet you." Josh smiled. "Likewise." Gio turned to me. "I gotta get ready to head out. I just didn't want to leave without speaking. I'm glad you're doing okay," he said looking between me and Kevin. I smiled and grabbed his hand. "Thank you so much." He turned to leave. "See ya later," I said behind him. I sat back down in Kevin's lap.
"Damn Alyssa you could have given me a better intro than that," Josh started. You could have said---"
"The dick-eater," I said cutting him off.
"Or the man hunter," Janelle chimed in.
"Or the thirst trap," I laughed.
He side-eyed us. "Okay bitches. Damn. I would have settled for friend. Y'all didn't have to shade me like that." All of us were cracking up. "Ya boy still here," Kevin said to me. I looked down at him. "The only reason you should be concerned is if you like dick." He scrunched his face up at me. "What?"
"He's waiting on Josh," I said as I pointed at him. "He's not checking for me." Josh sat up. "Oh God! He is? I thought I sensed something from him, but I just---I wasn't sure." Kevin and Adrian cocked their heads to the side. "Oooh," they said at the same time. I nodded my head. "Yep."
Josh quickly fixed himself. "Wish me luck. I'm going in."
"Good luck," I called out behind him.
"Babe why didn't you tell me," Kevin said looking up at me.
"Tell yooou---"
"That Gio is gay."
"I didn't think it was important, plus you took one look at him and just assumed he was straight."
"He's not like---out there, ya know?"
"Not all gay men are. Educate yourself baby."
"Bloop," Janelle said, "and that's the tea on that." We laughed.
"So how did you know?"
"That she was gay," Josh said as he plopped back down in front of us. "Yes Alyssa. Do tell. When did you realize you first liked women? Inquiring minds want to know."
"First of all bitch, I'm not gay," I laughed.
"Yeah I know. You're only gay when you're drunk," he said sarcastically.
Kevin laughed. "That's not what I meant. Y'all two can't be in the same room together. I'm sick of y'all," he laughed as he playfully pushed me off of his lap. "I meant how did you know Gio was gay." Josh looked at me. "You wanna answer this or should I?" I sneered at him playfully. "Please. Ladies first," I said giving him the floor to speak.
He chuckled. "Okay. Sometimes you just know. I can't explain it. They have a certain way about them. I mean take Alyssa for example." Everyone got choked up and laughed. "I really hate you," I said to him. "Stop trynna play my girl like that," Kevin said. "She don't get down like that."
Josh smirked. "How you know? You ever seen her eat pussy before? You don't know everything."
"Mmhm. Well let me tell you what I do know," Kevin said moving me out of the way and sliding up to the edge of his seat. "A year from now she will be my wife and you'll still be putting yourself in dumb ass situations for a nut. But who knows? Maybe I'm wrong and you'll get it right with Gio." Everyone was silent. "Kev come on. That was harsh," I said to him.
"What the fuck! I was just joking damn. You know how me and Lys get down. You ain't have to do all that."
"Nah. You ain't. You keep running your mouth about her. At some point enough is enough. Just cause you ain't happy don't mean you get to talk about Alyssa any kind of way. Have some respect. Damn! I don't like that shit. Don't make me have to say it again."
Josh hopped out of his seat. "Whatever man," he said grabbing his things. "I'll holla at y'all another time."
"Damn baby," I sighed. "You didn't have to do him like that."
"Why not? I was defending you?"
"I didn't ask you to!"
"So you like being disrespected?"
"He wasn't disrespecting me. Just like he said, that's how we get down. I never take what he says to me to heart."
"Okay, but I do!"
I was taken aback. "What?"
Kevin stood to leave. "I'm not having this conversation in here."
"Baby," I called out to him. He turned back around. "I said I'm not doing this in here." He nodded towards Adrian and Janelle. "I'll holla at y'all later." I placed my hand on my head. "It's always some drama," I mumbled. Janelle turned to Adrian. "Baby can you excuse us for a minute?" I interjected. "No. Don't leave Ade. J, you don't have to do this. You're always there for me and I appreciate you so much, but you don't have to make sure I'm okay today. Enjoy being with your man, okay," I laughed. "I'm going to go deal with Kevin and make sure Josh is okay, alright?"
"You sure," Janelle asked.
"Absolutely," I said to Janelle. "I'll see y'all later. Be blessed." They both laughed. "Girl bye. Getcho heathen ass outta here," Janelle said pretending to kick me.
I laughed and grabbed my things. "Peace." As I exited out of the coffee shop I facetimed Josh.
"Hey."
"Hey Josh. Where you at?"
"I'm sitting in my car."
"Where'd you park? I'm heading to the parking lot now."
"I'm parked near the store sign on the corner."
"Okay. I'm on my way." After a few seconds I was knocking on his window. He unlocked the door and let me in. "Heeey," I said as I slid inside the car. "Are you okay?"
"I'm alright. I'm just a little shocked. I didn't expect Kevin to go off, because of what I said. We've been friends for a while and he knows my mouth can be a little reckless. I've never known him to act like that."
I slid down in my seat and groaned. "Shit. This is my fault. Lately he's been having to defend me over some dumb shit and it hurts him to think that he might lose me. Fuck. I gotta fix this. He's the one person in my life that I can't lose. Damn." I put my hand over my face. Josh turned to face me. "Alyssa, go home and make things right. I'd be sad if y'all broke up. Y'all are made for each other; real shit. And truth be told if someone kept coming at my dude, friend or not, I would have been in their ass too, so I understand." I reached over and gave him a hug. "Thank you so much Josh," I said squeezing him tight. "I came in here to console you and you ended up consoling me." Josh laughed. "I've known Kevin longer, but you have became one of my best friends too. I always got you."
"Josh stop. You gon' make me cry."
"Alyssa you better not. Cause if you start I'm gonna start." I laughed and dabbed at my eyes with my fingers. "I love you Josh," I said kissing him on his cheek. "I love you too."
I grabbed the few things I came in with and let myself out. "See ya later," I said as I shut the car door behind me.
Fifteen minutes later I arrived at Kevin's apartment. I pulled out my keys and headed up the steps to his apartment door. I let myself in. When I got in, Kevin's new roommate was booed up on the couch with his girlfriend. "Hey Ray," I said shutting the door behind me and locking it. "What's up Alyssa?" I took off my shoes at the door. His girlfriend eyed me up and down.
"He in there," I asked pointing to Kevin's room. "Yeah." I walked over to the door. "She gotta key," his girlfriend mumbled to him. "Yeah, but she don't even come over here like that," Ray reassured her. I opened up Kevin's bedroom door. He was changing his clothes; his back to me. When he heard the door shut he turned around. I walked over to him. He looked down at me. "What's up," he said dryly.
"I need to talk to you."
"I'm listening," Kevin said sitting on the bed.
I got right to it. "Baby, I'm sorry for putting you in positions that have made you question me. I'm sorry that there were times where you had to defend me over some foolishness. I love you with all of my heart. I am committed to this relationship and I am committed to you. When I told you that you had me forever I meant that. Whatever I have to do to prove that to you, I will."
Kevin's face softened. He grabbed my hand and rubbed it back and forth. "I'll admit. You had a few crazy moments, but I know that you are committed to us. I'm sorry for making you think that I don't trust you, because I do. I was just so tired of hearing all the foolishness regarding you. I was over it, but I shouldn't have gone off on Josh like that. He didn't deserve it." I slid my hands around Kevin's waist and puckered out my lips for a kiss. He smiled and kissed me. "I love you," I said softly. "I love you too."
"Let's go to my place," I whispered. "You don't have to tell me twice. Let's go."
