Patton's P.O.V~
"NO! NOT AGAIN!" I leave my room quickly to see Roman kneeling in the doorway of Virgil's room. I run over to him. "Roman!" He looks up at me with tears in his eyes. "What..." Looking into the room I see Virgl hanging in his room. (I tried to put that softly I really did) "Oh kiddo..." I turn him around and pull him into a hug. "There's a note. Do you want to read it?" He shakes his head as he walks towards his room. "No, I've read it so many times I have it memorised..." I nod before entering his room to get him down. "You'll see him again soon Roman..." He nods his head. "I know. In three days he'll be reset with no memories of me..." He opens his door. "I just wish I knew how to stop it... I have seen Virgil die 32 times. But each time he's reset I just fall more in love with him..." He walks inside closing the door. I close Virgil's before cutting the rope.
Roman's P.O.V~
I walked over to my desk where the board was waiting. After wiping my eyes I picked up a pen and drew another tally under suicide. It sounds sick that I mark each time he dies, but I don't want to forget. I'm also hoping that there'll be a pattern. There hasn't been so far. He's been murdered 8 times, committed suicide 20 times and died randomly 4 times. Each time I find him as it's too late or it happens right infront of me. I throw down the pen before falling onto my bed. Tears clouding my vision and sobs clouding my hearing.
~Time skip 3 days~
It was the day for Virgil to be reset. I woke up early, I know he won't remember me but I miss him. I left and knocked on the door next to mine. A small gasp is heard from inside before I hear a quiet voice call out. "W...who is it?" "It's Roman. I'm a fellow side of yours. Come on out. I won't hurt you." He opens the door slowly. "H...hello..." I nod and take a step towards the common room where I can here Patton and Logan talking. "Let me introduce you to the others. Mind telling me your name?" He nods slightly. "I'm Anxiety... but my name is Virgil..." I nod and start walking towards the common room. "Well then Virgil. Let's go."
Virgil's P.O.V~
I follow him into the common room where there are two more people sat. Wait... why does this seem familar? My head suddenly starts hurting. I press my eyes shut and pull my hands up to my head. I open my eyes slightly. Everything is blurry. I hold out my hand for Patton or Roman. Wait how do I know the other's name? I try opening my eyes properly but my vision goes black.

"You will bear this curse until I see fit." Who is that? I look around for the voice. Turning around I am met with a huge Dragon Witch and Roman standing protectivley infront of me. "You must suffer as I did. However as I'm sure you have figured out. If you kill me, the curse dissolves. Now. Enjoy your eternity of suffering." The Dragon witch raises one of her talons and a black smoke surrounds the two of us. As I cling on to Roman I hear a voice behind me. "I see my anger is wearing down... Well enjoy your memories. But you still hold the curse."
~Reality~
Roman's P.O.V~
It's been 5 minutes since Virgil passed out. I don't know what happened. I pulled him slightly closer to me. "Ngh. Ro... Roman..." He jolts up suddenly. "Virgil! Are you all right?" He nods before pulling me into a kiss. "I missed you Roman. 32 deaths and you never stopped loving me..." I stare at him for a second bewildered. "Does this mean?" He nods slightly. "Yeah... I have all my memories back. I'm sorry you had to go through that." He looks away slightly. "I'm just glad you've finally come back to me." He places his hands on ny chest pulling himself up. "Roman I'm still cursed. But I know what happened." I sit him up properly before leaning in. "So tell me." He takes a deep breath before explaining. "It was a Dragon Witch. She cursed us after saying that we needed to suffer as she had. She said the curse would affect us until she saw fit. But I think her anger might be wearing off now..." I nodded in understanding. "Yeah I remember now. The Queen Dragon Witch cursed us. But what can we do? I don't want to have to watch you die again..." He places his hand on my cheek. "We have to kill her. That's what she said." I nodded again. "Well then... let's go." He nods and stands up slowly. "Patton! Logan! Get back in here!" Patton comes running in only to scoop him into a hug. "Ohhh I missed you kiddo!" Virgil returns his hug tightly. "I missed you too Dad." After Patton puts him down he turns to Logan. "How have you been Logan?" Logan just smiles and pulls him into a hug. "Sometimes hugs are required Virgil." He hugs back surprised before pulling away again. "Well, we better go Roman. I don't know how long I have until..." I nod standing up. "Yeah, you're right."
Patton's P.O.V~
"Wait what? Where are you going?" Virgil looks at me softly. "We have to go kill a Dragon Witch. Then the curse will be lifted." I nod slowly. "Oh... okay. But you better come back alive! Both of you!" They both nod at me before leaving the room. Logan places his hand on my shoulder. "We should see them off Pat." I nod heading for the door. "Yeah you're right..."
Virgil's P.O.V~
Me and Roman were stood at the door of the imagination. "Wait!" I turn around to see Patton running towards us. "Patton we have to go..." He nods slowly. "I know. But I want to say goodbye." We pull him into a hug before opening the door. "We'll be back in a few days." He nod, waving goodbye as we step in and close the door. "Ready Virgil?" I shake my head. "Not in the slightest. But we don't have a choice." He takes my hand as we set off. "It'll be okay Virgil. I'll protect you this time." I nod as we start making our way through the forest towards the Dragon Witch Queen's castle.
It had been a few hours since we started walking and it was getting dark. "Roman. We don't have time." He shakes his head. "Virgil. Please. I know your anxious about this but it'll be worse if we aren't well rested. Besides, it's dark and we don't know what's in those woods." I nod slightly taking his hand again. "Okay Ro. We'll make camp for the night." He smiles before starting to look for firewood. While he does that I start making a stone circle for the sticks to go in. "Roman, how are we doing for firewood?" He turns around arms full. "Pretty good. Most of it is kindling but we have enough to make a fire." I nod before taking some of the wood from him. "Well then, let's start a fire." Roman looks up at me after placing it all down. "Have you got anything to start a fire. "Yeah." I pull out my pocket knife. "If we can find some flint that would be great." Roman nods at me before looking around. "Found some." He hands it me so I start striking the flint. After a few sparks fly a few of them land on the wood. I strike it a few more times and soon we have a proper fire going. I put my knife away and snuggle up net to Roman. "I really did miss you Roman." He kisses my head as he wraps his arm around my shoulders. "I know babe. I missed you too."
Roman's P.O.V~
Virgil falls asleep quickly but I can't. After a few more minutes of silence, I finally start to feel tired. I pull Virgil into my lap and go to sleep resting my head on his.
Upon waking up I see that Virgil is already awake. "You ready to go Ro?" I nod standing up. "Yeah, let's head off." I pull him up and continue walking through the forest.
~Time skip 2 days.~
We have been walking for almost 2 days now, but we were getting closer so Virgil was getting restless. Not to say that I wasn't, I was. It's just that I didn't want to get there. I know we have to in order to break the curse. But I don't want to watch him be killed again. "Roman? You good?" I snap back into reality to see Virgil staring at me worriedly. "Yeah... yeah I'm fine..." He shakes his head slightly and links our arms. "Roman. I know how you feel... but we have to do this. We don't have a choice."
Virgil's P.O.V~
"I know Vee. I just don't wanna watch you disappear again..." I pull him into a tight hug as tear start rolling down his cheeks. "Hey, hey, shh. It's okay. Everything is gonna be okay. Alright?" I feel him nod but he's still crying slightly so I start rubbing circles in his back to calm him down. "Better?" He pulls away and nods at me. "Better. Let's end this."
"Yes, lets."
"Who's there?" Roman steps infront of me protectively. "Roman be careful." He nods at me. "I know Vee." He looks around for the voice. "So you two finally figured out how to stop my curse." "Roman..." He reaches his arm out infront of me. "I know Virgil. Stay close to me." "Yeah." I take a small step towards Roman. "Well then. Are you ready to die?" I look around to try and spot her. Roman summons a sword and holds it out infront of me. "Take it." I nod and take it from him. "Alright..." He summons a sword for himself. "Don't worry, you'll be fine." I hear the Dragon Witch snicker before appearing. "Are you two done with your little moment?" We spin around to be face to face with her. "Why hello your majesty." I do a fake bow.
Roman's P.O.V~
I laugh slightly at his response. "DO NOT MOCK ME!" I see Virgil flinch back slightly. "Especially not when YOU TWO are the reason for my suffering!" Virgil steps forwards slightly. "Sure we may have accidentaly caused you suffering. But you purposley brought us suffering!" She looks taken aback for a second. "You're right... I'm so sorry. Please just kill me and be done with it." Virgil doesn't move so I stay still aswell. He usually has good instincts for things like this. "Don't mess around with us." She laughs heartily. "Damn it I was hoping I could trick you. Well. Let's get down to business." I get into a fighting stance and see Virgil follow my action. "You ready Virgil?" He nods his head slightly. "As ready as I'll ever be." I nod in response. "Then let's go."
I lunge forwards toward her. The sword barely nicks her. "Nice try." She lunges towards Virgil. I turn around quickly to try and block it for him to see him already in a guard stance and manages to block the strike. "Well done, but can you block this?" She spins to attack me and hits Virgil on her way around. He tries to block it but gets knocked backwards. "Virgil!" He sits up slightly. "I'm fin- ROMAN LOOK OUT!" I turn around quickly to find the Dragon Witch about to attack. "Shit!" I pull my sword up as quickly as I can to block the attack. I only manage to dampen the blow a tiny bit and am sent flying backwards.
Virgil's P.O.V~
I see the Dragon Witch prepare for another attack after Roman fell. I pull myself up and start running towards him. I get to him just before she lunges and throw myself infront of him. "Virgil no!" Her talons clash with my sword harder than I thought they would, causing me to loose my balance slightly. "So you managed to block that then." I grimace slightly as she pushes down harder. "Virgil!" I take a proper stance and regrip my sword. "I'm fine Roman." I tap my foot twice on the ground before scraping it towards her. Not even a second after Roman is running behind her sword bared.
She pushes down again on my sword making me drop it, before grabbing me and pressing a claw to my neck. "Virgil!" I can feel tears form in ny eyes. "Roman..." The Dragon Witch laughs darkly. "What do you want she-devil?" She laughs again. "I told you. I want you to suffer. It's your fault that my love is dead. Not this emo's. So I only need you to suffer." I struggle slightly in her grip. She tightens it and presses her claw into my neck slightly drawing blood. "Virgil!" I look him in the eye and press a finger to my lips. "What do you want to do?" She stays silent for a second. "I want him to suffer." She loosens her grip slightly. "Is there anything we can do to make you change your mind?" She thinks for a second. "I want him to apolgise. But I want him to mean it." I nod at Roman. "I know he is sorry. But will you accept his apology?" She shakes her head. "Not alone no. I need him to do something for me." I tap my leg slightly and hold my hand away from my leg towards Roman. He looks at me slightly confused. "What do you want him to do for you? And don't say you want to stab him with your talons. Because that would only make me suffer." Roman's eye's flash in recognition. I placed a hand on my leg to try and stop it shaking.
He takes a slow step forwards reaching for my hand. "What do you think your doing?" He looks at me gently. "He's shaking I just want to calm him." She nods slightly. "Very well." He reaches for my hand and passes a dagger to me. I smile at him as I place the dagger in my pocket. "So you still haven't told me what it is you want him to do. Also could you possibly remove your claw. I won't ask you to let me go but it's really starting to dig in." She removes her claw slowly, however her talon is still latched onto me. "Very well." Roman sighs a sigh of relief as she removes her claw. I remove the dagger from my pocket and swing my arm behind me. She screams slightly and removes her talon.
Roman's P.O.V~
I watch as Virgil swings his arm behind him and slices just above her eye. He stumbles backwards as she lets him go. I step forwards to catch him before he can fall. "Thank you Roman..." I sit him down and take a quick step towards her before slicing her chest quickly. She stumbles backwards. "I'm sorry for cheating you... I really am but I can't lose Roman. Not again." She sighs heavily. "I understand how that feels. I apologise. I'm just glad I can see them again. Enjoy the rest of your uncursed life." I look back as Virgil smiles softly. "Thank you and I'm happy for you." She smiles as she fades away. "Let's go home Roman." I pull him up gently. "Of course Vee." I summon a door back to the mind and step through it. Let's go see those two.
"Virgil! Roman!" Patton comes bounding down the corridor almost as soon as we step through the door. "Are you okay? Is it over?" Virgil nods as Patton pulls him into a hug. "Oohhh I'm so glad. Anyway, you two spend some time together. It's been a long time since the both of you got to spend actual time together." Virgil pulls away from the hug. "Not that I don't want to but..." Patton just shakes his head. "I won't hear any arguments. Tomorrow we can all spend time together. Today you two should have it to yourselves. I'll explain everything to Thomas." Virgil and me smile at him. "Thank you Patton." He smiles back at us. "Don't mention it Roman. Now go!"
We walk towards our rooms and decide to spend the day in mine. "Hey Roman?" I look over to him as he drops onto my bed. "Yes Virgil?" I move closer to him worried about what he's going to say. "I'm sorry. For everything. For making you endure a whole year of watching me die over and over... I... I didn't... I don't..." I pull him into a hug as he starts crying. "Hey, hey shh. It's okay. Everything is going to be alright okay?" I run my hand through his hair to calm him. "I promise everything is going to be fine. You're back now. With me. And I'm never ever going to loose you again. You hear me?" He pulls away slightly. "Promise?" I nod at him and pull him into a light kiss. "I promise my love." He smiles and gives me a kiss before leaning back. "I love you Roman." I smile at him and wipe away the last of his tears. "I love you too Virgil."
I was maybe gonna have Virgil die at the end of this. But I'm not in the mood for that so fluff. I might write it as an alternate ending at some point though. Anyway I hope you all had a great New Year and Christmas and that this year is everything you need it to be. I believe in you guys.
