**I changed the cover of the book again because I can't decide on what cover I want. But I like this one so I might keep it and I might not**
Deja:
I sat on my bed with Jayden lying his head on my lap. He was on his phone and I was watching Andi Mack on my laptop.
"I can't believe you still watch Disney," he said staring at me.
"I'm 16 and I watch Disney. You're 17, almost 18 and you still watch Cartoon Network," I said.
"Touche." I laughed a little.
"Plus, this show is really good. The suspense and drama are unreal," I said. Jayden set down his phone and watched with me.
"Oh my gosh," he gasped when Cyrus came out to Buffy. "I thought he liked Andi!"
"Same," I said. We both laughed.
"This is such an emotional show," Jayden said continuing to watch. I looked down and saw that a few tears were slipping. A/N: if you don't know what show they're talking about the video in the box thing is the scene they're talking about
"Are you crying?" I asked.
"No," He lied attempting to wipe the tears. I laughed a little.
He shut my laptop and looked up at me. "Why'd you close it?"
"We should go to Tony's New Year's party tonight," he said. "You know, instead of staying home."
"What time does it start?" I asked.
"Around 8."
I looked at the time. It was 5:30.
"I can't believe it's almost 2018! Just like 7 more hours!" I squealed.
"I'm so done with 2017." I nodded. He sat up and got off my bed. He looked through his side of the closet for something to wear. "I'm gonna wear this."
He pulled out khaki joggers and a nice white T-shirt. I nodded my head in agreement.
"What should I wear?" I asked.
"This," he said pulling out a white dress that my dad bought me a few days after Christmas. "And then your white vans."
The dress was a knee length dress that fit my body perfectly.
"I'm not gonna wear a dress to a party," I said.
"Why not?"
"Because you'll be in casual dress clothes and I'll be looking like I'm going to prom."
"But I like this dress," he said. "It looks nice on you."
"Whatever..." I walked into the bathroom and took a shower.
I walked into the room with my towel wrapped around me. I grabbed all of my clothing items and walked back into the bathroom to change. When I got done, Jayden walked into the bathroom to shower and change into his clothes.
He walked back into the room and tossed his dirty clothes and towel into the laundry basket with the rest of mine. I sat in front of the mirror and put on my makeup while being careful that I didn't accidentally get anything on the dress. I quickly straightened my hair. I looked up and saw Jayden sitting on my bed. He just watched me through the mirror.
"What?" I asked.
"You look beautiful," he said. I blushed and looked down at the floor. He sure knew what to say to make me smile. "Well, I mean, you look beautiful all the time, but you're just... wow."
"Thank you," I said. "You look very nice too."
I finished straightening my hair and stood up. Jayden's arm snaked around my waist. I smiled and stared into the mirror. His figure towered over me. He placed his head on my shoulder.
I grabbed his phone from his hand and took a mirror picture.
"We're hot," Jayden said kissing my cheek as I took another one.
"I know," I said. We both laughed.
We walked downstairs after I put on my Vans. He wore black Vans. I got an apple from the fridge.
"Where are you two going?" Bridget asked.
"Tony's party," I said. "I mean, none of your business."
"You guy are going to a party?"
"Yes and no you can't come."
"I wasn't gonna ask. I'm going to Lucas' party anyways," she said. I took a bite of the apple.
"Isn't he the dude that ditched you in the middle of nowhere? Oh yeah, and I had to pick you up," I said.
"I still love him," she said. She walked upstairs and I sighed. Sometimes she could be so stupid.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Uh... 7," Jayden said. I nodded. "Tony asked if we could come over right now and help him set up."
"Yeah, let's go," I said.
We walked outside to the car. Jayden smiled not unlocking the car.
"What are you doing?" I asked trying to open the car door. He held up the keys and smirked before tossing them to me. "Are you being serious?"
"Yeah," he said with a nod.
"You're joking."
"No, I'm being serious."
"Yay!" I ran over and hugged him. He laughed a little. I unlocked the car and we both got in.
"Be careful," he said buckling his seatbelt.
"You have nothing to worry about." I sat there with my hands on the steering wheel. I got ready to back out. "I can't believe I'm driving the JayMobile!" I squealed.
"Well, my future wife should start practicing our car," he said with a smile.
I blushed a little before backing out of the driveway. Jayden told me the directions of the house so I knew where to turn and how to get there. We pulled up to the house.
"I can't believe we're still alive," he said.
"Same." He laughed which drove me crazy.
"Let's go," he said. We got out of the car and I locked his car. I tossed the keys to him.
We walked into the house.
"No, Chris! You can't stick the party horns up your nostrils and start a garage band!" Tony yelled smacking Chris in the back of the head. I laughed which caught their attention.
"Don't worry, Chris, I got you!" Jayden yelled running over and grabbed two party horns for himself. I laughed as they attempted to make music with their nostrils. Boys.
"Give me those!" Tony yelled grabbing the party horns and tossing them in the garbage. "Deja! Great! An actual mature person!" He glared at the two boys who were pouting on the couch. I giggled making Jayden cover his ears.
"Why does he do that?" Chris asked pointing at him.
"I don't know," I said continuing to laugh.
"Deja," Tony said. "Can you get these to goofs to do something?"
"Sure," I said. "Get up!"
They both got up and began setting out snack and drinks. Tony thanked me and continued to set things up.
By 7:45, the house was starting to fill.
"Thank the heavens you came," Tony said as the house began to fill up with kids from our school. "I would have gotten nothing done."
"No problemo," I said. Jayden walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my cheek. Tony walked off. Jayden spun me around so that I was facing him.
"It's 8 o'clock," he said with a smile.
"So?"
"That means there are 4 more hours until New Years. Which also means, 4 more hours until our New Year's kiss." He winked. I rolled my eyes and pulled away from him.
"Who said you're getting a New Year's kiss?" I asked walking away. He followed me close behind.
"Well, of course, I get a New Year's kiss, right?" I just shrugged. "Right?!"
"Who knows," I said. "Maybe this year, I'm saving my New Year's kiss."
"You wouldn't dare, Deja Anne."
"Oh, but I would." We walked into the backyard where the pool was. No one was back there yet.
"Are you still saving your New Year's kiss now?" He asked grabbing me and pushing me towards the pool.
"Jayden!" I laughed. He held me above the pool. "Please!"
"I want my New Year's kiss," he said.
"Yes, yes," I said. He pulled me towards his body. I was still dangling. He stood right at the edge of the pool and I was hugging him like a Koala.
"Is that for sure?"
"Yes, it is," I said. "Just please put me down. I don't wanna get wet."
He laughed and pulled me close to set me down. We both stood on the edge and I depended on Jayden's hands. If he let go, I'd fall into the water.
"Can we get away from the pool?" I asked. He just smiled and placed his forehead on mine. I stared into his big brown eyes that were decorated with splotches of green.
He carried me away from the pool.
We both walked back inside. Everyone was dancing and eating snacks.
"Let's dance!" I yelled over the music.
"You know I can't dance!" He yelled back.
"So?" I dragged him into the crowd of people. I began dancing all crazily and he just stood there and stared at me. "Come on!" I laughed holding his hands.
I pulled him to dance with me and he finally gave in and danced with me. I felt someone bump into me.
"Sorry," I said looking up. Zach stood there. I felt my once happy heart sink to the bottom of my stomach like the Titanic.
"I'm so sorry," he said.
"Are you really?" I asked. I turned and walked off. I walked upstairs and sat in Tony's room.
I sat there angrily punching one of Tony's pillows. Jayden walked in and stood in the doorway.
"You're so hard on him," he said walking over and sitting next to me.
"Well... that's his fault," I said.
"He didn't mean to hurt you..."
"Then why did he do it over and over again?" I asked. Jayden sat there slumped. He stood up and grabbed my hands. We began walking downstairs.
"I can't believe I'm doing this," he said.
"What?"
"Just, don't move. Stand right..." He led me over to the center of the crowd. "Here."
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'll be back, don't worry."
I stood there awkwardly as people danced around me. Jayden was gone for about 15 minutes. I looked around for him.
A bright light fell on me and I looked up to see Chris standing from the staircase holding one of those huge lamps that people use when they're fixing a car engine in the dark. I squinted my eyes a bit. The song that was playing stopped.
"Deja?" I looked up and saw Jayden standing from the DJ booth thing that they set up speaking into a microphone. "I can't believe I'm doing this..."
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I love you, Deja and I always have. I have plans for us in the future and I plan to spend the rest of my life with you because that's how much I love you," he said. Everyone was staring at me. A few girls were squealing. "And before you start freaking out like you always do when I do stuff like this, no, I'm not proposing. Not yet. I just wanna let you know that I love you and I always will even through the toughest times. And even if you're heartbroken, I'll do anything to fix it. Like right now." He sighed a bit. "You're perfect Deja and you always will be in my eyes."
Then the DJ started playing Perfect by Ed Sheeran which was our song. The song Jayden would sing to at the top of his lungs in the car and then fall asleep still singing. The song that I would attempt to teach Jayden how to play on the guitar because he loved it so much and he knew that it made me happy.
The audience awed as Jayden made his way off of the little stand they put the DJ system on. He walked straight to me and placed his hands on my waist. I put my hands on his shoulders, but I couldn't look him in the eyes because I knew if I did, I'd start blushing like a little maniac. Everyone around us started dancing to the song too.
"Jayden?" I asked still staring at the ground.
"Yes?" I felt his hand move from my waist to my chin and lift my head so that I was staring him in the eyes. Just as I guessed, I started blushing badly.
"I love you too," I said. He leaned in to kiss me, but I quickly turned my head and dodged it.
"What?" He asked laughing a little.
"I'm gonna save that for 12," I said tapping his lips.
"Makes sense," he said. We continued to laugh and talk and dance to the song.
...
After dancing for about an hour straight we walked away from the huge crowd of dancing teens and we walked into the kitchen to get snacks. He grabbed a chip and dipped it in bean dip. I just grabbed a cookie. I turned to grab myself a water bottle when he said my name.
"Deja," he said.
"Yeah?" I asked grabbing the water bottle.
"Can you look at this?" He asked.
"Yeah, what is it-" I turned just as he wiped the bean dip he scooped up on my nose. "Jayden!"
He just shrugged. I grabbed a napkin and wiped my nose.
"You're so lucky it's not on the dress," I said.
"And what if it was?"
"You'd do laundry," I said. "Not me."
He just smiled and ran over to my side of the counter and hugged me. He lifted me off the ground and carried me over his shoulder.
"Jayden!" I yelled laughing. I punched him in the back. "Put me down right now!"
He just laughed and ran around with me. We walked out into the backyard and stood next to the pool again.
"Why do we keep coming out here?" I asked. "I feel like you're going to push me in here any second-"
Just at the moment, both Jayden and I were pushed into the pool.
"Pool Party!" Chris yelled.
"Chris, you bi-" I covered Jayden's mouth before he could say anything.
"It's a pool party!" Chris yelled blowing party horns. I laughed as Jayden angrily stared at Chris. I rolled my eyes and grabbed his face by the cheeks and made him look at me. I smiled and he smiled back at me.
...
Everyone stood in the main room and counted down with the huge clock that Tony had set up. Everyone was counting down except for Jayden and I. We were both still a bit damp from the pool incident.
"You ready?" Jayden asked pulling me closer. "Because I wanna kiss you so bad right now."
"I might be bad at it," I said.
"That's impossible, I've kissed you a million times," he said laughing.
"What if I'm a bad kisser next year-"
Jayden cut me off and kissed me just as everyone yelled Happy New Years and blew party horns. Loads of confetti fell from the trash bags that I helped Tony set up which were rigged to all open and drop gold confetti with a pull of a string. He pulled away and I smiled which caused him to lean in again and place another kiss on my lips.
"Nope, you're still the best kisser I know," he said placing his head on mine. "But this year, Deja, you're not beautiful."
"What?"
"You're exquisite," he whispered in my ear making me smile. We swayed to the music in the middle of the huge crowd. "Exquisite, that means, extremely beautiful and typically delicate."
"You learned a new word?"
"Goal #4: Learn super huge words to compliment and impress my girlfriend," he quotes with a wink.
I smiled. I looked over Jayden's shoulder a bit and saw that Zach kissed Peyton. They were so happy together which made it even harder for me to try and tell him that Peyton tried to cheat on him with Jayden.
But it's a new year, so maybe this year will be different. Hopefully, it'll be different.
