"I CAN'T BELIEVE FIONA'S GETTING MARRIED."

Down in Chicago, in a little bedroom upstairs, Kylie Anderson and Debbie Gallagher were pushing each other out of the way as they tried to look at themselves in the mirror. Debbie was trying to get herself and Franny dressed while Kylie was leaning over the desk of her table to smudge some eyeshadow over her eyelids. This was her first wedding.

"Again," Debbie rolled her eyes sourly as she pulled a baby vest over her daughter. "Not the first, probably not the last either."

"Well, that's a bit mean," Kylie mumbled, blending the makeup out with a brush. She wanted to look just nice and pretty for once. "Don't you want her to be happy?"

"Fiona?" Debbie questioned like the girl was making a joke, "'cause she's so happy for me all the time."

"Then why are you getting dressed right now to go?" The brunette quizzed as she turned around to face the girl.

Debbie gave her a disapproving look and shook her head. "Look. You know I don't want to go— I shouldn't! She wasn't there for me on one of my big days why should I?"

"Because she's your sister," Kylie expressed.
She'd wished she'd had a big sister a lot of the time- she classed herself as an only child as she didn't necessarily run to Amy and Jemma to help with her problems. . . they would be doing that when they got older.

"Exactly. That's why I'm gonna get ready just in case I change my mind," she said, laying Franny back down on Kylie's bed. "She regrets not being around for me and I feel like I should be the bigger person and be around for her so I don't regret anything."

Kylie placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled at her. "Maturity."

"Yeah, whatever," the teen grumbled, reaching for a bottle of mascara.
Kylie dipped her finger in some highlight and dabbed it along her face, watching her cheekbones glow elegantly. "She seems so serious with Sean. I like him," Kylie commented, thinking of the two. From what she knew, Sean was good for her. She was yet to hear about him treating her bad or disrespecting her— she knew they had their arguments but she thought he must love her a whole lot if he'd asked her to marry her. But she didn't know what on behind closed doors, so it seemed like a good enough fairytale for her. It was probably the best Fi would get in Southside.

"They have to be serious— it's a wedding," Debbie exaggerated, picking up some blush, "now why are you doing your makeup so well? You're making me feel like shit," she let out a chuckle. She didn't have the effort to do a full face like Kylie- she just about wanted to throw on some mascara so she didn't look too ludicrous for the ceremony.

"We're going to a wedding," Kylie said, stating the obvious. "Obviously, I need to look good."

"I'm sure you'll have plenty of times to look good for a Gallagher wedding. I bet Fiona isn't even wearing any makeup." She said, throwing down the product, "jeez, you're blinding me," she joked, pretending to cover her eyes to shield them from the sparkle on her friend's cheeks.

"As I should be." Kylie responded cockily, applying a light shade of pinky-nude on her lips, "and I need to look bomb. I mean it's not every day you're invited to a wedding."

"You've been to all of Fiona's weddings before?"

"Yes, Debbie! But this is the first one where I actually know what I'm doing with my makeup!" she confessed, "I actually have an excuse to do it now. I was a kid all the other times."

"Alright, alright. Look sexy all you want, jeez." She breathed out.

She looked at her friend in the mirror, finding it unusual to see her in a dress and her hair straightened to perfection. The majority of the time, Kylie ran the streets in thick, black clothing that hid her figure majority of the time with her hair that stuck to her face if it wasn't pulled up in the messiest ponytail- but she had Chicago's indecisive weather for that. When Summer hit, she was dressed in cropped muscle tees and her signature, ripped shorts, but usually, it was a reliable, dark hoodie and leggings fit.

Of course, she always looked good with whatever she wore, Debbie thought, inspecting her dress, but it was cute to see her looking classy and happy with her appearance. "You look great." She complimented her.

Kylie smiled at her through the reflection and turned around to thank her. She genuinely appreciated the comment, having no clue what to do with makeup as she'd convinced herself she looked best barefaced and thinking she looked silly when she had it on. "Thanks."

"No problem," Debbie smiled back at her, pulling her hair round to the front of her shoulder. Kylie smiled in appreciation and held up the lipgloss, "want some?"

She accepted it allowed the girl to paint it on her lips, happy she was looking out for her today. Debbie then picked up Fran from the bed as the three got ready to head back over to her home.
Kylie took her time as she'd decided to be brave today and wear her first pair of proper heels to the event. They belonged to V, but she'd managed to convince her that she was able to function in them. They'd spent the night prior walking around the living room, V helping her get the hang of the shoes as let the girl cling to her arm and mark her floor.

Okay, so she didn't allow it but she couldn't really do anything to prevent it.

"So who's Tyson?"

Then Kylie tripped in her heels.

Debbie grabbed onto her before she hit the ground and save her from going down anymore. "How do you know about Tyson?!"

"He's been blowing up your phone for like 20 minutes? Are you guys sending each other nudes or some shit?" She confessed pulling her up.

Kylie straightened her posture and walked up the porch steps, snatching the phone from Debbie's hand. "No, we're not sending each other nudes! He's just a dude from my class. . ." she explained, looking at her nervously, "and he's like, super hot."

"You kissed him already?!" she yelled.

"It wasn't a kiss," she shook her head like she'd done a bad thing.

Debbie starred at her until she said more.

"I can officially say I've done it—"
"I dare you to say on a teacher's desk—" Debbie finished for her, looking at her in anticipation.

"I DIDN'T KNOW DEBBIE! But it's fine, right? Cause it was Miss. Vinson's classroom and nobody likes that bitch, right?"

"Oh my God! I can't believe you!"
"I can't believe me either!"
"Neither can I!"

Both Kylie and Debbie screamed in excitement at the teen's juicy scandal— I mean the door wasn't even locked!
Franny jumped and winged at the sound so Debbie began rocking her, calming her down.
"Are you serious?!" she whisper-yelled.

"Yes!" Kylie told her, walking inside the house. "But I swear— you can't tell anyone. It sounds so slutty." She looked down shamelessly, "at least out loud in front of V."

Debbie acted a zip closing her lips shut, "you got my word. God! I feel like a teenager for once!"

Kylie smiled at that. "Good!"

"I still can't believe you though. OH MY GOD!" She squealed again.

"ME NEITHER!" She squealed with her.

* * *

The Gallaghers— minus Debbie– and the Fisher-Balls were all backstage at the wedding, preparing themselves for Fiona to make an entrance. V and Kev were with her in the back whilst Kylie kept a look out to the crowd- trying to recognize as many people as she could.

Sean's son, Will, was there, looking like a little cutie in his suit. Ian's new boyfriend was there too, as well as Dom who stood at Carl's side.
Kylie couldn't help but feel bitter as she looked her up and down, thinking about how she looked so good so effortlessly with not even that much makeup on.

But then Debbie's words from earlier had relayed in her head, calling her the 'hottest bitch in Southside' and she immediately felt better: confidence was key.

And I mean, what are friends for, right?

Kylie wished Debbie would have come. She was still in two decisions on whether to show up last minute but she didn't know if to go through with it. Kylie was hoping deep down she would because she didn't know who the hell she was going to talk to at the after-party and everything.

"Kylie! You look so good, girl!" Dom surprised the girl as she approached her by the steps backstage. Carl awkwardly followed behind her as his date hugged the girl, holding her arms as she glanced her up and down. "Where did you get your dress?"

"Oh, somewhere in the back of my closet—" Kylie lied, knowing she'd found it in a 2nd-hand store for $14. "You look great, too." She threw her a compliment to be nice.

"Why thank you," she grinned, holding a little clutch bag.

She looked at Carl to see if he would say anything, but all she received was a raise of his eyebrows and a subtle nod, almost as if he gave a nod approval of her look.
I mean, you can still pay a compliment to a girl.

But knowing him, it would unintentionally come off too vulgar.

Kylie looked at Dom again, thinking what Carl saw in her— I mean her looks may have been enough for him, but what about her personality? Her interests were the exact opposite of everything he was into— Carl wouldn't last another week pretending to know who Shakespeare was and she wouldn't be able to keep up with his boisterous behavior.
Kylie couldn't even imagine them deciding on a movie— they'd end up arguing over what genre to watch because there was no way in hell Carl would allow himself to watch a Rom-Com. Kylie couldn't even stand a Rom-Com, she didn't want to think about him.

He could only go for so long.

"God Carl, fix your tie." Dom furrowed her eyebrows as she went to fix her tie. She passed Kylie her clutch to hold as she fiddled with the bow, and Kylie felt like she'd infected the crystal purse with Southside filth.

Carl sighed as she fixed it, and Kylie watched him boringly. "Kylie."
"Carl."
"You clean up well," he answered in a monotone voice.
"I always clean up well," she responded with cockiness.

"Guys, c'mon." Dominic chuckled, "no fighting on the big day. Y'all better just be playing."

"We're just playing—"
"This is—"

Kylie and Carl caught each other's eyes and sent each other the same, threatening look- one for not being honest, and the other for telling the truth. In the middle of squinting her eyes Kylie's phone buzzed like Debbie had claimed earlier, and she looked down to see who had texted her.

"That your Romeo?"

Kylie furrowed her brows at him as he looked at her proud of himself. Using Shakespeare's work in front of the girl who loved Shakespeare— talk about suck up.

Dom's brows raised, "you have a boyfriend?!"

"No." She shot down, hating how everybody was suddenly so nosey.

"Pfffttt, yeah she does. His name's like Toby or Rex or some shit like that," Carl screwed his face up as she began listing the first few dog names he could think of.

"Tyson," Kylie corrected, scowling.

"Yeah. Or Tyson, that's it." Carl rolled his eyes- like he cared, anyway.

Dom was pleased to hear the news, "damn, he hot?"

"Please, is he hot?" Kylie scoffed, "he's nothing like these white boys in Southside," she commented. "But he's not my boyfriend."

"Pssh. Yeah right, 'cause what happened up in Miss. Vinson's room was so friendly—"

Kylie pushed Carl to shut him up, "how do you know about that?!" she rushed, furrowing her brows down at him. If he knew then who the hell else knew?!

"Jeez, who doesn't know?" Carl played with her as he looked off into the distance.
He'd be looking off into heaven when Kylie knocked him out for not explaining anything further.

"I don't," Dom spoke up, interrupting the two. "Why, what is it? What do you mean, babe?"

Her cluelessness made Kylie feel about 0.1% better, but that was all.
"Nothing important. I'll fill you in at the after-party," Kylie said, distracting the girl with direct eye contact as she began to walk away, stomping on top of Carl's foot so he made sure to keep his mouth shut.

She was completely shameless at the time of the event- and even until she spoke to Debbie she didn't really care.
But maybe it was the sight of Dom coming across as classy and strong with her nice girl act did Kylie begin to feel like Southside scum.

But I just couldn't help myself! God! Where was my self-control?! She argued in her head as she stormed away. Why did she have to freakin' sit down THERE?

Suddenly, Fiona made an appearance at the entry of the doors, dressed in the most stunning, white gown Kylie had ever laid her eyes on.

It was made for her.
The dress complimented her figure beautifully and made her seem so innocent and elegant against the white. The look on her face was enough to make Kylie's heart melt as she realized that this was really Fiona's happiest day; a turning point.
And she was ecstatic for her.

Kylie shuffled in between Veronica and Svetlana, being a fellow bridesmaid, as Kev, Dom, and Ian's date, Caleb, took a seat.
Kylie's eyes also landed on two familiar faces in the crowd and she gave a wide smile at the sight of Debbie and Franny.
Yay!

She didn't care if Debbie's excuse to showing up was for a petty reason- if all she came to the wedding was so Franny appeared in the photos, then she was sure Fiona would have been happy for that.

"Now who will be giving the Bride away?" The priest asked, looking around the room for someone to answer, and Lip and Ian both raised their hands in response.

"Father. . here I am. Father of the bride," the unexpected happened, "where do you want me, Padre?"

Frank walked in.

Frank, fucking, Gallagher.

"No, absolutely not!" Fiona argued as Lip and Ian made a quick attempt to try and escort him out.

He was not ruining her big day.

Kylie watched the scene go down in front of her, allowing herself to take a seat on the step of the stage as a fight broke out between the majority of the men. "I have a duty! To walk my daughter down the aisle and give her away!" The grown man argued as two of his sons did all they could to remove him from the building.

Kylie couldn't help but feel stupid for expecting everything to run smoothly- it was a fucking Gallagher wedding, of course, something like this was going to happen.

"Just go Frank, you're not wanted here," the groom himself called as the man was dragged down the aisle.

But Frank seemed to be triggered most by Sean's statement and began debating him in the middle of the venue. "Why, Sean? Why am I not wanted here?" He asked, "am I a disappointment? Have I disappointed you, Sean?!"

"This is getting old," Kylie whispered to Debbie, who only nodded in agreement.

"No, it's because you're a massive fuck-up who makes everyone around you miserable every chance you get." Sean spat from the stage as he looked at his potential father-in-law.

Like a lightbulb shining above his head, Franks's face seemed to radiate the look of coming up with a great idea as he approached the perfect comeback. "Well, no one's perfect, Sean. Isn't that right?"

There was a venomous undertone in his voice that made people like Kylie brace themselves for what Frank was going to say next.

"Oh, my loving family. So judgmental– all without faults. He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone. That's basically the
gist of it, isn't it? John 8:7." He began with a sarcastic tone to his voice.
Kylie could see people like Ian and Carl with dates become embarrassed and ashamed for what was going down in front of them for being the first time they'd brought their significant others around the family.

Fiona was begging him at this point to leave, tears clouding her gaze. "Please, please, Frank. This is my wedding day. Please don't fuck it up."

"I love you, Fiona." He said, interrupting her, "my little girl. I always accepted you for who you are, with all of your faults. Accepted all of you for who you are– even when you couldn't find a place in your heart to accept me for who I am." He said, turning to address them all. "We're human. We make mistakes. Have faults—"

And then the savagery hit.

The man began listing all the flaws of his very own kids right in front of everybody, a reflection as to what kind of parent he truly was.

"Lip's drinking his breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ian's a bipolar queer." He began to list, holding his arms out to each person as he spoke.

"Debbie is a 15-year-old with a baby on her hip! And Carl thinks he's a brother. . . with a foxy fucking girlfriend— I'm not sure how you pull that one-off," he scratched his head, "so we'll throw in the fact he was nearly a dad himself at thirteen with Kylie."

Kylie's eyes almost popped out of her head as the comment left his mouth. She looked to Carl and then to Dom- her eyes even flying to Kevin who looked like he was hearing the news for the first time!

Carl and she both mocked the same facial expression as Dom stood next to him with her jaw nearly on the floor, "YOU TOLD ME YOU WHERE A VIRGIN!"

Kylie panicked and looked around, wondering how the hell she got brought into his fucking diss track.

But Frank continued on, slagging and down talking everyone in the room- going as far as practically slut-shaming his own daughter as he contrasted her legs to be a freeway, and how so many men drove up then that she would need an exit sign down there.
Kylie's heart was beating out of her chest for her, biting her lip to almost stop the tears from coming to her eyes, she felt so guilty and sorry for the girl.

And then he finished with Sean.
Talking about a little discovery he'd made whilst snooping around in his office: he'd come across a little box, full of needles and a spoon— and a little bag of brown powder.

"—I mean, how many did you think it was gonna take you to get through all this wedding shit?!" He laughed, officially putting a stop to the wedding once and for all.
Tears fell from Fiona's eyes as she turned to address Sean, her heart shattering in front of everybody.

"Is it true?" she asked, but Sean didn't reply as he left her at the altar and ran on to chase after his son, Will.

And the room was left in silence.

"You are a fucking asshole, Frank," Kev announced, breaking the atmosphere.
Everybody stared at the pathetic excuse of a human being and scowled his way.

"That I am. Never denied it. But at least I'm an honest asshole." He clapped back, turning around to face him.
And then the punches rolled in: Lip and Ian being the first to jump at their shitty dad and beat him down to best they could.

Kylie felt like throwing herself on top to join in, but she felt like had bigger problems to deal with now. . .

. . .  she always had to get dragged in to the Gallaghers' mess.
