*****LATER AT THE DANCE****
"STARSHIPS! WERE MEANT TO FLYYYYYYYYYYYY! HANDS UP AND TOUCH THE SKYYY! LET'S DO THIS 1 LAST TIIIIIIIIIIIIME! HANDS UP... WE HIGHER THAN A MOTHAF!!!!R!!!!!!" We screamed.
We danced and danced (even our special Starships one :D).
"OK guys... time for a slow song..." the DJ announced.
Dododododododo/ We'll do it all/ everything/ on our own/ we don't need...
"Nononono.. Not this song... not Chasing Cars" I thought." I'll start crying"
I walked over to the tables to sit. I couldn't stay and look. I sat down with my back to the dance floor. Right next to Cody.
"Hey." he said.
"Hey..." I replied.
I knew he wasn't OK. He always sent me this song with sad faces and teardrops. It made me think of him.
"If I just lay here.. Would you lie with me and just forget the world..." I murmur-sang.
"Forget what we're told.......... before we get tooo old........ Show me a gar-den that's bursting into life..." Cody and I murmur-sang.
I looked at him. I saw the hurt in his eyes.
"He's thinking of Massie.. Oh and Rachel..." I realized.
****CODY'S POINT OF VIEW****
I looked up at Taylor. I could see the tears forming in her eyes. I couldn't figure out why.
" She's over Justin.... And she dumped Mark... So why is she crying?" I thought, perplexed.
"Come here Taylor." I said as I grabbed her head and pulled her close.
The song ended. Taylor sat up. Her face was turning a bit red and there were still tears rolling down.
"Sorry... She mumbled as she sat up. "Thank goodness no one can see me but you..." she said.
"It's fine Taylor, really." I replied.
Hey There Delilah came blasting through the speakers. The tears came flooding out of her eyes. I grabbed her and held her close.
"Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City/ I'm a thousand miles away but girl tonight you look so pretty yes you do..." I whisper-sang into her ear.
"She does look gorgeous. And so does Massie... but Massie's a b!!!h. And so is Rachel but she isn't here. So glad I don't like her anymore." I thought.
We sat there, motionless, until the song ended. As the song ended, she sat up and wiped under her eyes.
"Crap... my mascara's running..." she mumbled as she wiped and tried to fix it.
"Calm down... you look fine." I replied.
"I'm so sorry Cody... Sorry I did that..." she said as she bit her lip.
"It's fine Taylor. Don't worry about it." I reassured her.
"Are you OK?" She asked.
"Yes I'm fine." I replied. "Are you?"
"I'm... better." she said.
"If I'm allowed to ask... why did Hey There Delilah make you cry?" I asked carefully.
"Because... It was the only 'slow song' they played at the last dance when Mark and I were together and he didn't dance with me and so I went home and listened to that song and cried and now after what I've done to him..." she said in a shaky breath.
"Shhh... Taylor... It's OK...I'm here." I said.
"Thanks..." she said before she walked over to dance for the last song of the night.
"Oh wait... do you want your glasses back?" she asked.
"No... Give them to me later." I replied.
She left to dance for the last time this year.
*************************************TAYLOR'S POINT OF VIEW******************************************
"I'm not surprised he doesn't want them back." I thought. "Considering I was just crying on them... and his shoulder."
I skipped over to the dance floor as if nothing had just happened to join my other friends, Ella and Alli and the others.
"I wanna dance. And love. I wanna dance and love again." sang J-Lo as we all danced the last dance of the year.
"Here are you glasses." I told Cody.
"Thanks." he replied.
"Text me when y'all get home" I told Ella and Cody.
"K" they replied.
I left our last dance of the year full of emotions and confusion.
