Chapter 20
It was getting closer to the time Kyle was supposed to pick me, and I was beginning to get restless. I hadn't been to a carnival in years! Mum used to take me every year, where she would buy me heaps of candy, and make dad spoiled me with won toys. How I missed those days...
We had made our way to the climbing frame, where we were sitting on the metal flooring.
"What's it like?" Clay said out of the blue. I cocked my eyebrow "what's what like?" I asked. "What is having a mate like?" He replied. I smiled sympathetically at him and took in a deep breath as I attempted to put all the magical feelings into words. "Amazing. It feels great to have someone made for you; someone that understands you. Who feels your pain, and can most of the time know what your thinking or feeling. To me it feels like your caged with one person - like you share a body - and you will never complain about it. It is purely magical." Clay nodded whenever I finished a sentence. "Can you feel him now?" He asked, almost sounding jealous. I nodded "I can feel him here" I put a hand to my heart.
"Not all mates are like you two." He blurted. My heart quickened at his sudden outburst - and the sudden point of knowledge. "How so?"
He rubbed the back of his neck and said "sorry, but some mates aren't as... in love as you two. Hundreds of wolves find their mates, but one would do this thing called 'reject thy's Lycan'. It's written in the sacred book of True Lycanthrope. But basically, a wolf would reject their mate - weather they were in love with another wolf, or if they could not risk falling for a lower class wolf." My heart broke at his factual words. How could anyone reject someone as important as their true mate? "That's horrible..." I said sadly, mostly to myself.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up. I just... I just wanted you to know how it is." He apologised. Something inside me clicked and I asked "Did Juliet reject you?" Clay's eyes darted to mine. "What?" He asked, somewhat shocked I said such a thing. "Did Juliet reject you?" I repeated. His eyebrows knitted together, his face full of sadness and hurt. He almost looked... broken.
"Yeah." He chocked, a silent tear escaping his eye. "She thought I wasn't worthy of her love. She despised me, the only thing keeping her to me was our parents and our shitty arranged marriage." He hung his head and turned away from me.
"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned it." I hugged his back and rested my head on the back of his neck. "It's fine..." he said weakly. I regretted ever saying anything right now. I felt like a horrible person. I should have known he'd get upset...
I hadn't pulled away from my hug, i knew he needed it. I closed my eyes and just sat in silence.
"Jade?" I heard my name being called and my eyes shot open. Kyle was standing in front of the pole that smaller kids would use to exit the little boxed area we were in on the climbing frame. I removed myself from the hug I was giving Kyle and went to Kyle. "What were you doing?" He said quietly. I could slightly see the hurt in his eyes. "I was comforting my best friend, nothing more than a hug." I made sure to look honest, which was no challenge. He looked over to Clay, who was still hanging his head. I nodded to Kyle, knowing he wanted to talk to him.
Kyle POV
Jade went to give me and Clay some privacy, by sitting on a neighbouring swing - which I was grateful for.
"What's up, buddy?" I said, wrapping an arm around his shoulder after I climbed into the small box, trying to brighten the mood. "The sky." Clay mumbled in response. I smiled and I could tell Clay was giving in to my humour too. "Did the nasty Jade bully you?" I said, with a fake pout. Clay shook his head and shrugged my arm from his shoulder. "If you hugged me any longer, she might think we're gay..." I laughed at his comment. He turned around to face me. "C'mon, you can tell me. Man to man." He half smiled. We were just talking about mates and then I revealed the fact that Juliet had rejected me..." I frowned. "Aw man, that's rough." I said. He nodded his head half heartedly. "You don't need that bitch though. She was obviously blind and stupid. There are plenty more gals in the world, and everyone would be lucky to have you." I said matter of factly. He nodded and said "Thanks, I appreciate it." He held up his hand and allowed me to shake it.
"Are you guys finished making out yet?" Jade shouted, trying to lighten the mood. Me and Clay both laughed as we left the box. "Yep!" I replied. "My butt was getting numb in there anyway..." Clay said with a wink.

Jade's POV
I entered my house and went straight to my room. I made sure to avoid my Dad, as he might have a heart attack when he see's me walking perfectly without my crutches. Kyle wiated down stairs for me to get changed.
I couldn't help but feel slightly bad fro upsetting Clay earlier. It broke my heart to see him like that... but as long as he's ok, I suppose I could get on with life.
I racked every inch of my wardrobe for a nice looking outfit. I tossed and shoved pretty much every piece of clothing in the wooden box until I layed my eyes on my White floaty, knee high dress. I loved that dress, and I couldn't believe I had forgotten it! I took it off of the hanger and placed it onto my bed. I fished out a pair of nude coloured pumps, before returning to my bed to get changed.
I removed my current clothes and slid the dress over my head. The material gently brushed my skin as it made it's way down my body, until halting. I brushed my hair out of my face before looking at my mirror. I looked really good, to say so myself. It hung to my body and didn't reveal to much of my chest. I smiled as I placed one of the pumps onto my foot. I am sure I would get a few odd looks when people see me walking with a cast on my foot, but I suppose I will have to ignore it and enjoy my time with Kyle.
There was a slight knock on my door. I told whoever was knocking to come in and stood confused in the middle of my floor as a young medical nurse entered. "Um, can I help you?" I asked her. "Oh, I'm sorry. Kyle told me to go straight up. I'm Melony, the Kyle's Father's pack nurse. I was told to remove your cast for tonight and replace it with a specialized walking boot." I was slightly taken aback by her response, but chose to go along with it. "Ok..." She lifted a small suitcase which was waiting in my door frame and opened it, to reveal a series of medical equipment.
Melony pulled out a small hand held mechanical saw, with a rounded blade. She plugged the cable into a socket which was by my bed, and gestured for me to take a seat. I sat on my bed and pulled out a stool for leverage for my foot. Melony smiled at me before turning the saw on. My stomach began hurting as I began feeling insecure. The roar of the saw was all that could be heard, and I was glad my Dad wasn't here.
Wait, if dad saw I had no cast on, wouldn't he suspect something? "Wait, my Dad might notice and suspect something." I spoke out my thoughts. She was centimetres away from breaking the shell of my cast. "Oh, don't worry about that. Your Dad knows your cast is being removed because we made a quick call to him and told him your bones have healed perfectly. Though a walking boot will still be needed." She informed me. I nodded my head in understanding, and allowed her to continue with her work.
The saw's teeth broke throught the cast with little struggle, and it was soon removed from my ankle. I slowly wrapped my hands around it and thanked Melony. "It was no problem." She said with a warm smile. She handed me the walking boot and allowed me to strap it to my ankle. She told me not to get it wet and that I can remove it when I go to bed.
Melony packed her things away and left my room. I thanked her once more before she left completely. I walked down the hallway and down the stairs after looking once more at my reflection (after I added a swipe of mascara and eyeliner. As well as a pale coloured lip gloss)
Klye was at the bottom of the stairs. He was wearing a white dress shirt and black jeans. He must of gotten changed while Melony was removing my cast. He looked at me and his eyes widened in surprise. "You look... stunning." He said. I blushed lightly and smiled back at him. "Thank you." I said before planting a small kiss on his lips. "How's the boot?" He asked, looking toward my foot. I nodded and said "It's good. Definitely more comfortable than that cast." We grinned before leaving my house. My Dad was just getting out of his car and was slightly surprised when he saw me leaving the house in my favourite dress.
"Hey, where are you two going? Did the cast removal go OK?" I smiled at him before answering his questions. "we are going to the carnival, we'll be back around eleven o'clock. And the cast removal was fine. I got this boot now." I kicked my booted ankle slightly so he could see it.
"OK, be safe. I'll see you soon." He kissed my cheek before entering the House.
Me and Kyle were once again alone. Butterflies fluttered around in my stomach as excitement took place. I loved the carnival.
"I called the taxi earlier, he should be here any moment now..." He looked up and down the street, a secure arm snaked around my hips, pulling me to his side. It felt right to be in the position. His warmth radiated onto my body, making the slight chill wash away. I couldn't be more happier to be with anyone other than Kyle Walker.
Just as Kyle had said, the taxi was soon in front of us. We got into the back an told the guy where we wish to go. With a grunt, he began driving.
