Piercing bright white lights. My vision is blurry, unable to see clearly. As the world comes into focus, a deep, throbbing pain in my chest suddenly appears. “What the hell is going on,” I think. Looking down, I see a surgical knife lying on my chest. And then I realize, I’m being operated on. Wait, not me, my host. A man in a doctor’s mask leans over me. “Vitals look good, accepting fluids properly,” he says, reaching for the knife. “Oh hell no,” I yell, “If you think that’s going to go back in me, you’re fuckin’ insane buddy boy.” The doctor’s eyes open wide as he reels back in terror. “What the hell is happening!” he yells. “Oh God, help!” As I rip out of my host, he leans over and vomits. “Dude, that’s so gross,” I say, looking around. Realization dawns on me as I look back to see my previous host’s body. A large, gaping hole, starting from his navel and running all the way up to his jaw, riddles his body. His blood spattered all over the wall, and intestines strewn across the floor. “Aww, come on man, I thought you were supposed to be a surgeon, you aren’t supposed to be queasy around stuff like this, I mean, you see this crap every day.” The doctor looks up at me, and then I remember, I’m not in a host, he can see me exactly as I am. “Sorry buddy, but you got to die. You aren’t supposed to see me.” Reaching over to the tray, I pick up the scalpel. “Don’t worry,” I say, “It’ll only hurt, a lot.” Flicking my wrist, I sent the scalpel end over end, right through his throat. A spray of red erupts from his neck, his hands flying up to his throat. His eyes, wide with surprise, feel like they are staring holes straight through my soul. As he slides down the wall, I notice the scalpel embedded halfway into the wall. “Damn, Xaq, nice shot.”
