A day went by and Rick went to meet with the governor. Merle decided to be an asshat once again. He told Carl that his dad's head was probably already on a spike. I wanted to go comfort him but he didn't seem like he really liked talking to me so I didn't. He then threatened Glenn. I stayed inside my cell and waited for Rick to be back.

I looked at my stomach which I hadn't gotten around to since everything happened. I was a lot meatier than before. The clothes finally fit me right and I was happy to know my body was being taken care of.

I noticed one of my many scars from the fire on my stomach and put my shirt down. I didn't like to think about it to much. It was a hard time for me and I wanted to keep it to myself as long as possible.

Soon after Rick came back and we all gathered around. I stood next to Beth with Michonne behind me.

"So I met this governor." Rick said as he looked around. "I sat with him for quite a while.

"Just the two of you?" Merle asked. Rick nodded lightly. Merle started walking to the back. "Should've gone when we had the chance bro."

"He wants the prison. He wants us gone. Dead." Rick said as my heart raced lightly. I knew what was next and I didn't want to listen. I didn't want to fight people. I knew it was gonna happen, but I wasn't prepared, not like this. I didn't even know how to shoot a gun and if I did, I wouldn't want to use it.

Rick walked or and Carl left too. "We should attack first." Michonne said.

"I agree with the samurai. He won't know we're coming." Merle added.

"We should just leave. If we are on the road he can have the prison and we won't have to fight." Carol said as Hershel nodded.

"We don't have to leave." I said looking to them. I was going to propose my answer from earlier. "We hide. We make it look like we are gone. We get them inside and we end it." I said looking to them.

"I'll talk to Rick. See what he thinks about it." Hershel said as he hobbled out.

We had two days to figure it out. And for two days most of us sat around and waited. Something was off. I didn't know what was holding Rick back from making a decision.

We headed out to block off as much as we could. Michonne thought we should make it even more difficult for them to come in then it should. It was good plan since Rick only told us that we were fighting. We blocked up obnoxiously as much as we could.

"Want to learn to shoot?" Carl asked looking at me.

"I guess I should." I sighed slightly.

"We can't use too many bullets so I'll give you three with a silencer." He said as we walked to the gate. "You can practice with the walkers or munchers." He said as I smiled lightly. "You'll have to learn to shoot something moving." He said looking to me. "Do you know how to hold it?"

I looked to him. I put the gun up proplerly. "My dad taught me how to hold it. He would never teach me to shoot it." I said looking at a muncher. I shot at it as it let out a quiet whistle.

The bullet went into its chest and the gun, which was a pistol, kicked back. It didn't hurt but it felt weird. "When you aim, aim a little higher than the head. The bullet goes down when you shoot. Make sure to stay steady. Hold it forward more like this." He said as he adjusted my arms. "It'll keep the kick back from hurting." I looked to him and he looked to me before backing away.

I aimed at the same one with the instructions he gave me and I put my weight on the gun. I shot it and the muncher fell. "Hmm." I sighed lightly. I aimed for another with my last bullet. It went straight to the ground.

I held the gun down and looked to him. "Thanks for the lesson." I said without much emotion.

"You don't seem that thankful." He responded looking at me with his eyebrows raised.

"I am, I just don't want to kill people, you know?" I looked at the munchers outside walking around.

"Well when someone tries to hurt you you can't just let them kill you. You have to fight back." He explained.

I nodded to him. "You're right. It's just weird that this is what life is now." I shrugged lightly.

"It's the apocalypse. What else are we supposed to do?" Carl replied to me as I gave him the gun.

"I don't know." I shrugged as I saw Rick running out.

"Have you seen Michonne?" He asked looking to me.

"I last saw her in the C block." I replied to him worried. "What's wrong?"

"Merle and her are gone. Daryl's going after them." Rick said as Daryl ran out.

"She wouldn't leave without telling me. What's going on?!" I asked loudly looking at him. He looked just as worried.

"Meryl took her to see the governor. Her for the prison." He said looking to me. "Daryl is going to go get her back." He said once more.

"What?" I asked looking at him quietly. "She-"

"He'll find her." Rick said slowly looking at me. I couldn't contemplate what was going on or what to say or do. I took a few deep breathes and I ran away towards the back by the dumpster. I sat in a corner.

Michonne was family now. And I didn't want my family to be taken away again. It couldn't. I knew there was nothing I could do but I wanted to.

"Meeting by the bleachers." I heard Rick say as I walked over. It must've been about finding Michonne. I sat down fidgeting with the end of my flannel.

"When I met with the governor, he offered me a deal. He said- he said he would leave us alone if I gave him Michonne." Rick said as I looked up to him with tears welling up in my eyes. "And I was gonna do that to keep us safe. I changed my mind, but Merle knew and took Michonne to fulfill the deal. Daryl went to stop him but I don't know if he was too late." Rick said as I felt anger inside me.

I wanted him to feel the pain I was right now. I could barely even understand what was going on. I was taking deep breaths trying to calm down.

"I was wrong not to tell you and I'm sorry." He said looking at me and then everyone else.

"How?" I asked looking at him as he stopped. "Why would you do that?" I shook my head trying my hardest not to cry as I walked over to him. "That's my family and now that asshole is taking it away!" I pushed Rick I don't even know if he even flinched, but I didn't care. I ran past and went up to the overpass. I couldn't stop the flow of tears.

I took out my knives and threw them at the other door. Each one landed perfectly inside of it making gashes. I was so pissed. I took them out and stayed there crying.

Everyone sucked.

And I know it sounded like some stupid teenage thing, but it really did. Michonne might've been dead and Andrea too. The first people I found to be my family were gone and right now I was so- so pissed.

I heard the door open. It was probably someone trying to comfort me but I didn't care. I just wanted Michonne back.

"Lyla Rose." I heard as I turn. It couldn't- It was.

"Michonne." I said standing up wiping my face. My eyes were blurry with tears but I knew it was her voice. I immediately hugged her. She hugged me back. We both held on tight. "I thought you were gone. I thought the governor-" I started.

"I'm here. Rick said you got mad. Almost pushed him on the ground. Made him stumble a bit." She said looking at me as she wiped my face off.

"Really? He actually almost fell?" I asked surprised as I sniffled.

"Yeah." She chuckled lightly. "Probably deserved it too."

"I just- I want you to know that you're my family." I said looking to her trying not to start crying again. "I don't want to lose you. You're the first one to help me and accept me and I don't want that to change."

She hugged me again. "You're my family too." She said holding unto me. "Now let's go get ready. Rick agreed to your plan."

"I might as well be the boss huh?" I jokingly asked her.

"Definitely." She responded as we walked out. I went to my room and got all of my stuff ready, which wasn't much. I was going to hide out in the woods with Hershel, Beth, Judith, and Carl.

I had everything that was mine ready to go. My blanket, my knives, and a pen. The medicine Hershel had so technically it was with us too.

Carl was pissed too. I wasn't sure if it was because he couldn't help or because he just was because he was a teen too.

We got the car to the woods and covered it after a while. We heard gunshots and Carl exclaimed how he should be there.

"Is that why you're so upset?" I asked genuinely looking to him.

"Part of it. I don't get why your not still mad." He said looking at me.

"Because I got Michonne back. I'm still angry at Rick but I'm not gonna let it affect everyone else." I shrugged lightly. "What's the other part?" I asked as he looked at me. He looked away making sure no one was coming, gun in hand. The shooting stopped.

Not long after it started again. We eventually heard the truck vrooming again but I didn't know what was happening because we were too far to see. Not long after a teen not much older than me and Carl showed up with a rifle. Car and Hershel put their guns up. I stayed hidden with my knife just in case while Beth held Judy.

"Drop your weapon son." Hershel said holding the gun.

"Yeah okay. Here take it." The boy said willingly. It didn't sound like he was trying to hurt us but they still had their guns up. I heard nothing and I looked up to see the boy with his gun away towards Car to grab when all the sudden Carl shot him.

I took a deep breath and turned around. My eyes were wide. I couldn't- how could he do that. He was surrendering. I mean he probably just shot at the rest of the group but- Oh that's why. He shot him just in case he shot one of the others. But still. I couldn't wrap my head around killing another person.

"We should get back." Hershel said looking to us.

"Carl why did you do that?" I asked looking at him as he put the boy's rifle in the trunk.

"He was threatening us." He replied.

"No." I replied simply. That's definitely not what had happened.

"Last time I didn't kill someone when I had the chance they ended up hurting someone I cared about. I can't let that happen again." He said closing the trunk. He got in the front seat while Beth and I sat in the back.

I looked to her and she knew what I meant. What had just happened shouldn't have. She went back to caring for Judith. Hershel seemed just as worried in the front. We headed to the prison and went inside after realizing they were gone.

We walked in and Carl went to Rick. I didn't pay it much mind as we all stood there.

Not long after, Michonne, Rick, and Daryl all left for Woodbury. The rest of us stayed. I wanted to go but Michonne fed me some crap about how it would be best if I was here to protect everyone. Whatever was next, it wasn't good.
