A pang of pain from a happy moment
in the past
A future daydream
that never became a memory
A friend group split apart so suddenly
But fell apart so sadly
We were never the friends I
Once thought we were
You were a beautiful snake
Disguised as a dove
When you leave distance creates
a cushion for gossip
Like my feelings don't exist
because Im so far away
I always imagined us to be
What everyone else only dreamed of
But now we seem to be
Someone's worst nightmare
I realized this knife in my back
Was placed there long ago
without my knowledge
I just never noticed it until
I took a few steps back
And drove a couple miles south
Taking everything with me
And gaining the wisdom
To know your sincerity was fake
And that our friend group
Was walking on thin ice
That I just so happened
To break
After testing its durance.
