Jaeden

The party was tonight. I was really hoping Wyatt will come since he said he might not be able to. But he seemed pretty excited on the way home from school so I'm sure he's thinking about it.
I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my notifications. I saw a text from Sophia.
"Hey! Really hope you can make it! I'd love it if you were there😉😊"
I chuckled slightly at the text and reply.
"Well then I guess it's your lucky day! I'll be there😉"
Was I trying to flirt? I honestly had no idea.
Suddenly my mom peek her head through my door which was ajar.
"Hey honey, can I talk to you?" I froze. That couldn't have been good.
"Uh, Yeah, sure." I said. My voice was shaky from being nervous.
"Ah, relax, Denny. I'm just gonna talk to you about that nice girl at church!" She said. Denny was my mom's personal nickname for me. Most people called me Jae, or Jae-bae. But she wanted to be different. She used the last letters of my name to make it. Den, or Denny.
"Oh ok." I say. A feeling of relief washes over me.
"So, I invited her and her family over for dinner on tomorrow night!" I smiled.
"Sounds great! But why?"
"Oh, because I don't know she's a nice girl and I think you'll like her if you get to know her." I thought a minute. Was my mom seriously trying to set me up with someone? Weird.
"Ok, well, thank you for being so thoughtful. She does seem nice." She smiles.
"Well, hurry up the party is in an hour." Oh right.
I get up and go to my closet. I push passed the clothes looking for an outfit. I decide to wear a grey jumper and some black skinny jeans with holes in the knees. I grab my black vans and run downstairs.
Once I get down there I check the clock. I still had thirty minutes. My mom was in her room so I went to the living room and watched Naruto for the remaining time.
"Alright, Jae!" I hear my mom coming out of her room. I press the power button to turn off the tv then walk with her to the kitchen.
"Ok. Grab the secret Santa gifts on the island and then we'll go." I nodded, picking up the small packages that lay on the island.

Wyatt
I was so nervous for the party. I'm very introverted so I rarely go to things like this. I was just glad Jaeden was going so I could see him again. We had to bring a gift that was $20 or less. Of course, me being me , forgot a gift. I decided that I would just sit out of the game then join in when they were done.
I slipped on my black beat up converse and headed out the door. My mom was waiting in the car. She was so sucked into her phone that when I got in the car, she didn't even look up.
My mom's job revolves around her phone so she's not ignoring me on purpose.....
Right?

The car came to a stop causing me to look up and around. My mom put the car in park then took her keys out. Implying it was time to go inside.
I didn't want to.
I have major anxiety and ptsd of public places. Especially parties.
But it was a church party with adult chaperones so nothing too crazy could happen.
We get to the door and I open it slowly, nervously looking around for Jaeden. But he was no where to be found. I found that pretty odd considering he's the pastor's son. I really hope he comes.

Jaeden

Me and my mom arrive at the church. I instantly see Christmas lights on the windows and a huge Christmas tree in the lobby. I was so excited. One reason was because I could see Wyatt again. Another reason is because, well, it's a party.
I see Wyatt walk through the front door. My heart flutters. Why?
A nervous expression settles on his features as he eyes the room. Who was he looking for?
His eyes settle on me and he smiles. I walk over to him.
"Hey!" I say chuckling slightly.
"Hey." He says. I can hear the nervous shakiness in his voice.
"You good?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I just don't like public places. Especially parties." I give him a comforting smile, and pat him on the shoulder. He winces under my touch.
"Ahh! I forgot a gift! I forgot to tell you." He says throwing his hand in the air out of frustration.
"Dude, no worries. I brought two gifts! You can just use one of mine."
"No no no, you don't have to do that!"
"I insist." I saw holding out the present. He smiles and takes it. I love that smile.

The adults were doing their own banter while the students stayed in the party room.
No chaperones.
I looked over at Wyatt who looked pretty nervous. He turned to look at me.
I swore I saw his face go red.
"Hey, Wyatt, ease up! It's a party have fun!" Students left and right were dancing and cheering. He nodded gulping. We walked towards the crowd, Wyatt staying relatively close to me. I didn't mind though.
"Alright everybody listen up!" Sophia was stood on a chair.
"It's time for some real party games!" Everyone cheered. I didn't know how this was gonna end but I was intrigued. Sophia got down and told us all to sit in a circle.
I immediately knew where this was going.
"Spin the bottle time!" She said holding up an empty root beer bottle. Oh no...

Wyatt

I was having a panic attack. There were no parents, and we were about to play spin the bottle...

*Flash back*

"Alright everyone! Sit in a circle!" A tall blonde boy stands in front of the room with his hands cupped around his mouth.
"It's time for spin the bottle!" I walked and sat next to my friend Cameron.
"Alright, the rules are whoever the bottle lands on, those people have to go in the closet for at least 7 minutes." He said smirking. I instantly felt my palms start to sweat.
The boy, named Jason, spun the bottle and it landed on a pretty brunette girl. She blushed hard, and Jason smirked. They went into the closet next to the living room.
They came back seven minutes later. Jason's hair a mess, and the girls lipstick smudged. They both were blushing hard.

Soon it was my turn. I spin the bottle and made sure it spun fast. It came to a stop. It landed on a boy named Nathan whom I had never really talked to. Everyone giggled and a dark crimson color appeared on both our cheeks. We got up and went to the closet.
There was awkward silence. Mostly us just looking at our feet or fingers.
"So.." I started before being interrupted by Nathan smashing our lips together. The kiss started off innocent but soon got rough as I brought my hands up to tug his hair. After a good makeout, we pulled away.
"I'm so sorry!" He said. He rushed out of the room. I'm pretty sure he was crying.
I came out to everyone looking at me.
"What did you do to that poor boy?" Jason asked laughing historically. I focused my gaze to Cameron. He was laughing too. My own best friend was laughing at me.
I ran outside in the rain crying. This was all my fault.

*end of flashback*

"Jaeden this isn't a good idea." I say tugging on his sleeve.
"Come on,Wyatt! Live a little!" He said smiling. I wasn't smiling though. I couldn't play this game. Too many memories.
Sophia spun the bottle causing everyone to watch in anticipation. It landed on Jaeden. That same familiar feeling came into my chest when they both blushed and got closer. It was only a peck but it hurt me. I don't know why. But it hurt.
Jaeden was next to spin the bottle. But before he could, a girl named Hannah spoke up.
"Alright Jaeden, whoever this lands on. You two have to go in the closet for seven minutes!" My heart sank. The memories all came back.
The bottle spun fast. It started slowing down. It looked like it would just land on Jaeden and no one would have to go in the closet. But it landed on me. Shit. Everyone ooo'ed. We both looked at each other blushing. How can I get out of this. Sophia's features contoured into a look of disgust. We slowly got up walking to the closet. This was no big deal. All we had to do is stand in a closet for seven minutes. No big deal.
We reached the closet and Jaeden closed the door behind us. We just stood there.
"Some luck huh?" I said laughing.
"Yeah." He said laughing.
"So do you want to-?"
"I mean do you?"
"Um..."
"We don't have to." We both looked down.
Suddenly I felt a tug on my waist. And before I knew it, Jaeden's lips were on mine. I was shocked but eased into it, putting my hands in his hair. The kiss was slow, but nice. It lasted for about 10 seconds before we both pulled away. My face was hot. Like, really hot. He scratched the back of his neck.
"I have to go." He said pushing past me.
I had the same feeling I did that night at the party.
I screwed up. I felt hot tears in my eyes as I walked back into the party room. I looked around. Jaeden was gone.

Jaeden

I had to leave. I had to get out of there. I had made a huge mistake. I kissed a boy.
I'm not supposed to do that. That's gross. The worst part is, I'm still questioning if I liked it or not. I walked home. I didn't care what my mom thought or said. As I walked along the pavement, I felt hot tears roll down my face. Wyatt hates me.
I can never show my face anywhere ever again. Especially church. I hate myself.
I got to my house and ran to my room, slamming my body into the bed faced down. I let out a loud sob. I had screwed up. And nothing will ever be the same again.
