they kept it secret. they kept it confidential.
no one knew but them.
they were arguing, like all couples do. wait no, they're friends, of course they're friends! haha, no wonder teddy had to keep reminding himself every time he just wanted to give jamie a quick peck on the lips or cheek. or when he wanted to wrap his arms around jamie and stay like that for as long as they could.
but they were arguing. yes, like friends do. because of the christmas post. teddy respected that jamie wanted it taken down but he did want a full reason. only jamie wasn't giving him one.
"teddy, listen. it doesn't matter why, i just didn't like the comments." jamie insisted on not telling him the full truth.
teddy didn't know why, he could only dream of getting an answer out of jamie. he was a stubborn little prat when be wanted to be. the older boy usually laughed at it but now it was becoming a bit of a nuisance really.
"it matters to me!" teddy had to semi-shout back. everyone was getting excited for the new year's count down as it was less than a minute until the new year. and teddy could barely hear himself think, never mind talk go jamie. nevertheless, he carried on. "and it's partially obvious for me to see that you don't want the comments up because they're about us possibly da-"
"shut up!" jamie exclaimed, shocking teddy into silence. there was a sudden pause before teddy recollected his thoughts and turned them into words.
"excuse me?"
"i said, shut the fuck up... before i make you." jamie glowered at teddy, making his mind run haywire with scenarios in which jamie would make him shut up.
"oh yeah? what are you gonna do to me jamie?" he challenged, titling his head. jamie stared at him, appearing breathless; his chest was rising and falling rapidly and teddy hoped it had something to do with him.
the countdown then started from ten, startling both boys. it painstakingly got down to five, and then one. and then there was the tradition. a new year's kiss. they both looked back at each other and teddy didn't think twice before pulling the boy opposite closer to him so their lips brushed together.
"happy new year, jamie." he whispered, blaming his impulses on the intoxication from the amount he'd had to drink. teddy ignored that he didn't remember having anything to drink. he pretended he had lots, just as an excuse to kiss jamie.
and so he smashed their lips together.
the kiss ignited a spark inside teddy with sent flames running down his spine. he brought jamie closer to his body as jamie pushed his lips against teddy's. they moved in response to each other; teddy leant down more, and jamie responded by grabbing the back of his neck and pulling him down further, wanting to be connected at every inch.
their lips parted, and they took a step back. breath came out in soft pants from both of their mouths. they just stared at one another while celebration surrounded them. jamie's cheeks were weasley red. and teddy couldn't stop touching his thumb against his own lips.
jamie came forward and pushed up on his tiptoes to give teddy a kiss on the cheek. he settled back down on his feet before he was whisked away by louis and fred.
teddy's gaze lingered on him retreating with his friends. but his mind was still processing what actually happened. he'd kissed jamie. teddy lupin had kissed jamie potter.
and it was the best decision he'd ever made.
